@Jessica0 your situation sounds exactly the same as mine. He was put on a partial timetable but couldn’t even manage that. If I knew then, what I know now, he should never have been in a mainstream school and I feel so guilty for how much he’s suffered because of it. I gave up on homework, there was no point trying to get him to do it. He just ended up in such a state that it wasn’t worth it and at the end of the day, it’s only homework. He was getting detentions for being late and not doing homework and I spoke to the school and said I struggle to get him in and you aren’t helping.

I’m with you, whatever makes things easier and happier and healthier for them.

and don’t listen to the people who say they’re just getting away with being off school and just can’t be bothered etc. You know your child best.

Hope you get awarded. Let me know if you hear anything xx

Scan date 19/10
Had a missed call yesterday.
I just called them , 1 hour 45mins to get through. The guy was really nice, he isn't sure why they called but told me it was awarded yesterday, the back pay amount and amount going forward.
Been a horribly long wait for an answer, good luck to you all , I hope you get what your child deserves x

It's just heartbreaking to see them so distressed and I have the worry about her future because she's really bright but mental health comes first thank you good luck to you too hope you get an answer soon xx

Regarding carers. Is anyone up to date with the rules?

They take it out of universal credit. Pound for pound? And what happens with backpay? Is that ours or will they take that too. Im so overwhelmed with all this now. Thanks

WhereDidTheTimeGo888 · 16/02/2024 18:56

@Jessica0 my son’s the same but slowly just went downhill from the top sets. He’s so intelligent but failed by the system like a lot of our children.

Thank you, good luck with yours too. Xx

Hi all

Long time lurker here.
Scan date 20/10. Called today and they said was with a case manager, does this mean it's with a decision maker ? Or that it's in the pile to be seen.
He also " put a request in to have a text sent when it's been decided"
However he said it depends on DM, some people can some can't.

Also do they only text if it's awarded, if ur not awarded do they still text saying no award etc ?

Thanks x

Lisa3kids · 16/02/2024 19:40

I’ve finally posted my sons MR so I’m back in the waiting g game again good luck to everyone still waiting a decision

SarahJL12 · 16/02/2024 19:52

@LCB261 my scan date is 19/10. I haven't rang for an update this week, I'm praying it's atleast with a cm/dm at this point. I'm not 100% but I think a case manager and decision maker are the same thing. I've seen a few times on here people have had a text saying 'we have made a decision on your claim' rather then 'you have been awarded' which seems to mean it's a decline. But the majority of people don't get a text at all and only find out from phoning or money hitting their account.
Good luck to you, hopefully we both here something next week x

Emma2345 · 16/02/2024 19:54

@KateLouise123 hey hun so if you claim carers which isn’t through universal credit then they will take it pound for pound but claiming carer element through universal credit does not affect you and they will not deduct money and also back payment from either DLA or UC will not be deducted as that is what is owed they can not then deduct that from you hope this helps x

Thank you, so I've put that I'm caring for my daughter on UC. This isn't the same as carers allowance? X

Emma2345 · 16/02/2024 21:31

@KateLouise123 no hun carers element through UC will not affect your universal credit and you will be able to keep that hun ,, unless you have applied for carers allowance separately then UC will deduct all of what they give you I only no this as my friend has a son with ASD she also works and was in receipt of carers element & carers allowance and UC deducted all of her carers so it was pointless she even at one point contacted UC and explained her son had been put on reduced hours at school and if she quit her job & became his full time carer would that of made a difference & UC said no they would still deduct from carers allowance she canceled that in the end but she currently still claims the carer element from UC and is able to keep all of that with no deductions hope this advice helps xx

OP posts:
Emma2345 · 16/02/2024 21:38

@KateLouise123 it was actually much better for her to continue working and claiming carers element and not carers allowance as this way her wages wasn’t affected for every £1 carers allowance gives u UC takes the £1 off but caters element should not affect your money at all again hope this helps xx

Scan date 19/10. So I have a payment of £2290 going into my bank Tuesday! I think they’ve backdated it to when I phoned for forms 5/09, as it was scanned 19/10 when it was meant to be back by 16/10. I phoned Monday and they said it wasn’t with the decision maker and extra evidence was sent in on 5/02, which also had not been scanned Monday. This is for a new claim.

mumtumok · 17/02/2024 06:24

@Lisa3kids what address did you post your MR too please ? X

Chocolatebiscuit42 · 17/02/2024 06:50

Hi all,
First time posting, long time lurker.
Scan date 20/10
Called yesterday and was told my son has been awarded MRC. I am so pleased but thought he would qualify for HRC as he has prolonged periods during the night that require constant supervision too. Is this based on age? He isn't quite 3 yet so perhaps that's why? I am unsure whether it's worth a MR as I'm not sure what evidence I could use to show unless they'd like to come for a sleepover loool
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
Hang in there all waiting and fingers crossed your children are awarded the help they need! X

Gracie1909 · 17/02/2024 07:21

Hii, my daughter was 19 months old when i submitted her claim she has ASD and Pica undiagnosed no evidence i only had a referal letter for an assessment at the time. She was awarded HRC 3 weeks ago, its based on needs not age, for the night time i explained how she only sleeps 3-4 hours at a time then she will be awake for 5 more hours then back asleep, also during the night hours and day hours she would put her hand in her nappy constantly and try to lick her hands she also eat her poo! When i received the letter for the award it said something along the lines you have been awarded because you deal with bodily functions for prolonged periods during day and night.
