DLA wait times 2023 Part 10

JimnJoyce · 21/07/2023 10:43

hi thought i'd start a new thread as the last one is completely full and won't let me post.

Well I've just spoken to a very understanding man on the phone who confirmed that my daughters application is with the decision making team and I should hear within the next 3 weeks which would take us up to 16 weeks.
I told him I would like to make a formal complaint about the inordinately long wait times and he assured me he would make that known and pass it along as soon as we were off the phone.

is anyone going through MR? on the phone the manager said around 3 weeks to be looked at. just received a letter saying up to 11 weeks 🙈

Lo89 · 28/07/2023 11:35

@nic00000 oh no don't tell me that haha I was told 3.5 weeks on the phone 😩 only sent mine off few days ago

Danleigh89 · 28/07/2023 11:38

Seems like long arse waits for everything.

Danleigh89 · 28/07/2023 11:44

What reasons did they give u for decline if u don't mind me asking? My 4 year old son got suspected asd waiting on complex communication and autism assessment up yo 2 year wait. He has social amd interaction difficulties and delay in all areas has speech therapy . He's so much hard work to take anywhere bless him. He goes on toilet for a wee but still wears nappies for number 2 I've tried allsorts for him. I also have 2 older sons. I defo see the difference. I just hope we get somewhere for him x

nic00000 · 28/07/2023 11:45

nightmare have you sent extra evidence in? i’ve sent it next day should of got there monday in going to wait a few more days and check it’s been scanned in @Lo89
been a long process

Lo89 · 28/07/2023 11:56

@Danleigh89 was that she doesn't have an EHCP which is stupid anyway

She doesn't need more care than a child her age in - personal care, behaviour and sleep which I provided more evidence about her condition and explained in detail why she has extra needs to which tbf I don't think I had done very well on the form

@nic00000 mine got there on weds so couple days behind you. 🤞🏽 let's hope we get some good news

That is stupid I've seen people on threads be awarded when they haven't got a echp. Honestly they don't have a clue what we have to do or how hard it is to have a child with additional needs my son starts reception in September the school qhev said they want to set up a meeting when he goes back to get ball rolling fir an echp. He currently has an iep. Dreading it now I'll probably get a refusal. Fingers crossed your Mr ges well x

Lo89 · 28/07/2023 12:22

@Danleigh89 I think it seems to be on which DM you get because so many people don't have EHCP as you said I've refuted it anyway with evidence of the level of support she's getting in school. So hopefully MR goes well. It's abit of an u fair system that it's awarded to some without EHCP but then that's used as a refusal reason for others

Hi!

just rang this morning! I’m none of the wiser.

it’s been done.::: but it’s gone to a manager to be checked, so they can’t tell me the decision until it’s been checked?
told me to ring back mid next week.

I presume I’m a random application that’s audited.

but I’m also presuming that it’s a decline due to if it was accepted I’d probably have a payment for her by then too 🥹.

I feel even more stressed now 😅🫣

If its just to be checked I reckon you'll hear from then before mid next week. Whys everything so loooong lol. Bet your sat on edge of your seat waiting for that text.

cherrymum23 · 28/07/2023 13:55

Would an iep fall under the same category as an ehcp? Or would they be less willing to accept this?

Kezj87 · 28/07/2023 14:10

Do you think I will still get a txt if it’s a positive? Im not sure I will.

it’s going to be a killer wait over the weekend 🫣.

have you rang today?

I'm unsure to be honest I don't know if it does. I've sent it anyway whether it'll be any sort of help I'm imsure. X

People that have requested a text don't always get one. Try ringing them back j before they close today see if they have had any updates if not just give them a ring Monday. Weekends the worst 2 days of waiting and can't call or nothing lol

Have those who have been awarded recieved a back date of disability element on uc? If so has it been backdated from 4 weeks or from the date DLA backdated from? TIA X

I don't know if you've received a reply to this because I haven't got that far through the thread yet but I also had the message on my UC account to say the decision for backdating the disabled and carer elements went to a DM, a week later (weds this week) the DM wrote on my journal to say a decision was made and that it would be backdated and they would get a case manager to do this asap, haven't heard anything else so don't know exactly how much the backdated pay will be (I haven an idea though) or when it will be paid but I'm hoping next week.

Kezj87 · 28/07/2023 17:21

So I rang back before they closed!

the DM awarded hrc &lrm for 2 years which I’m absolutely over the moon for my daughter! (If she’s going to receive it)

But! After looking through my claim the call handler stated that, the dm has not sent a letter or generated a back payment or future payments.

dm is not in for a while now so the call handler is not sure what’s going on with my claim.
He’s sent the dm a message and told me to wait 2 weeks to see if I get a letter of decision 🫣.

finished the the phone call wondering what is actually happening 🤷🏻‍♀️.

anyone ever experienced this?

First of all fantastic news . 👏 I don't understand the other bit though as surely they have to backdate you and send a letter out. Arleast you know u have been awarded. Wait to see of owt goes in the bank next week.

CoffeeLover90 · 28/07/2023 19:24

@Kezj87 Sorry that's not good enough. Please ring back and ask for a manager. Sending a confirmation letter and backdating, is part of the process. Sounds like DM made an error there and if they're not in for a 'while' there's no reason why you should wait.

Muva306 · 29/07/2023 08:23

Well done @Kezj87 fantastic news that you’ve been given an answer!! But it’s just thrown up more questions for you!! Deffs call and ask to speak to a manager!! Surely they can’t 1/2 do a job and then go off for a while

Wow, firstly congratulations! It does sound like someone hasn't done their job properly though? Almost like they've not clicked a button to complete the process? I'd call back on Monday and query that, and look to escalate to a complaint if they don't have a satisfactory answer or timeframe. It should be easily sorted though surely! Sounds like a two minute job.

Mystic94 · 29/07/2023 22:35

My son was awarded last March mrc, his award ends in October and I sent the renewal and evidence first class recorded on Wednesday.

I haven't had a text from dla about receiving the forms, it was definitely delivered as it's been signed for. Shall I ring them? Or do you not receive an acknowledgment text? Thanks

Kirstyg111 · 30/07/2023 10:40

Hi there I sent off for dla for my 4 year old restricted at school for 1 hour 15 minites on his my 3erd report plan for his echp carnt talk well with slp in and oit school he's awaing his appointment for his his autism appointment can only se the toilet for a wee and in pull ups for the rest is very hard-work I can get called back after 30 minites after him being at school there's a lot more long to explane but its been nerlt 16 weeks I rang them on Wednesday said it's take 17 half weeks for a destion and can take a few weeks when retching the DM is disgusting how thay say 3 months on a form thay need to scrap that info the school won't him to intract with other children as he don't with his pears and dont have friends but he's not aloud in school for long but except u to game them out to learn to socialise with other toddler ls but carnt even make a distinction quockenuff to help with financial support to help ur child along so frustrating at this point hope evey one gets the answers and awards thay need and deserve.

Jt1985 · 30/07/2023 10:53

is any one going through a MR? My daughter was refused last Monday and was told to wait for the letter ( which I still haven’t received) and you only have certain amount time to do this. How they think it’s normal for my 12 year old to be excluded from main stream and starting a alternative provision is beyond me! Her melt downs are something else she threatens to throw teachers at staff! Runs out of school has to be restrained! At home she grabs knifes and threatens to stab us all! Runs away from home etc. she is on waiting list for peads, is also having anger management through Camhs. Also suggested she has odd! School suggested adhd also. Apparently this is normal behaviour the dwp think! I would love them to look after her for an hour! They would soon change there mind! Anyone else going through this process!

Hi sorry to hear your going through this.

Did you evidence it all in your application? They seem to be declining lots on the basis of no EHCP in place. Does your child have one?

Jt1985 · 30/07/2023 12:28

No she dosent have an EHCP however my son was awarded without one! I sent lots of eveidence from school( I rang up adding information on every exclusion 3 time in 3 months ) and the name of new school etc! I also rang them and told them she was being seen by west in school! Part of chams! School have put every intervention in place! They now can’t deal with her anymore! I do have a letter from peads saying they have accepted her so will send that in with MR. And ongoing emails from chams so will print them off and send them! Seriously I don’t know if they have looked at all the additional information I sent in and also risk assessment from school I sent in. But apparantly that’s normal
