DLA wait times 2023 Part 10

hi thought i'd start a new thread as the last one is completely full and won't let me post.

Well I've just spoken to a very understanding man on the phone who confirmed that my daughters application is with the decision making team and I should hear within the next 3 weeks which would take us up to 16 weeks.
I told him I would like to make a formal complaint about the inordinately long wait times and he assured me he would make that known and pass it along as soon as we were off the phone.

EB82 · 29/08/2023 14:32

It is @Muva306 its got to be anytime now 🤞

PLJ44 · 29/08/2023 14:59

@Muva306 ...oh thank you, you give me hope!! Had convinced myself today that we can't have got it, seeing as May dates are now being done... 😬😪😪😪
I did try calling 3 times and got cut off. Will try tomorrow when I have enough time to really COMMIT to the process LOL.
Good luck.... Can't be long now for you 🍀🤞🍀

For those asking about the dla payment on their UC claim, it comes as a backdate, so you get a letter on your journal with the amount and then it goes in via faster payments directly into your bank. It came on a random day, it wasn’t my payment day or anything 😊 I know it’s a nightmare waiting but all the time that passes by is extra payment that you get. It took them 4 weeks to verify my letter at the time ( 2 years ago) so I got this random payment of £400 and then the following UC payment date was my usual amount with the £400 disability and £160 carers.

CharleneD · 29/08/2023 15:08

Just to add, that was for high rate care. I think middle and low rate is £100 ish?

Soph194 · 29/08/2023 15:11

I called was on hold for 40 mins just got off the phone. It was a lovely man he said because I’m entering the 17th week my claim was still in the holding que so he has requested a case manager to look at it and should hear a decision this week. Anyone wondering my scan date the 4/5 so shouldn’t be to long for us may people 😂

Muva306 · 29/08/2023 15:12

Fingers crossed 🤞 @EB82 oh I’m glad I’ve given you hope @PLJ44 I was working and watching 90 day fiancé (guilty pleasure 😂😂) so decided I had some time on my hands to persevere the hold music 😂😂😂

No I’m going to phone tmrw morning at 9am x

WorseDecision · 29/08/2023 17:30

I just spoke to DLA and the woman said some people saying their claims getting pushed to the top for waiting so long are lying, she's seen it on the Facebook groups and said it's a load of rubbish. 🙈

She said it's now gone up to 18 weeks to go to a decision maker.

Soph194 · 29/08/2023 17:49

Honestly I called up cos I’m 17 weeks rhis Thursday the man was lovely and said it was till I’m holding que so he will allocate it to a case manager and within 20mins off phone she got awarded I think it depends who answers the call if they can be bothered to go all out for you x

Rebbit2013 · 29/08/2023 18:54

Hi, sorry I was just wondering if someone could explain ‘ scan dates’ to be, I sent my sons DLA forms off on 05/05 signed delivery, what would be classed as my scan date? I’ve received a few texts saying they’re still looking at my claim but that’s about it- thank you x

CoffeeLover90 · 29/08/2023 19:07

@Rebbit2013 It's the date DLA received the forms. So I was sent a letter saying they received them 30/05 - so when they said a 15 week wait they mean from the scan date. Although judging by the latest awards here (congratulations people!) it's still a 17/18 week wait

CharleneD · 29/08/2023 19:34

I tried to call today but after being on hold 1hr20mins it turned 17:06 and the call disconnected 😩.

For anyone waiting for a renewal I was told again yesterday by another lady I know that they’re working backwards for those, so they’re only deciding if your renewal is going ahead or not the day before your claim ends. It’s giving me so much worry that it’s going to be cancelled or left waiting for more info with the payments stopped!

I need to try and ring again at 9am, everyone seems to have better luck from calling first thing it seems?

I am honestly so worried, I use DS’s for his clubs and activities as he is not into age appropriate toys whatsoever so he’s only settled at home when he is doing jigsaws or domino / stacking type games, filling out word searches, that sort of thing.

Also he ruins the front of all of his trainers / shoes from walking on tip-toes and chewing all of his cuffs, he’s had 6 replacement school jumpers since last September and 5 pairs of school shoes despite only going up one size in that time.

Having the DLA helps with how expensive everything is and how he only eats certain foods etc etc. I also pay whatever it costs to park wherever we go if it’s closer, rather than driving a bit further for free parking as he randomly decides he isn’t going to / can’t walk anymore and we end up having to carry him or leave wherever we are despite him weighing 4 stone!

Praying for good news for us all! ❤️

CoffeeLover90 · 29/08/2023 19:47

Fingers crossed @CharleneD have you tried adidas tensaur sport shoes. They do all black, straps, perfect for school and the only shoes DS hasn't ripped to bits in a month! Check vinted or ebay if you want to give them a try

EB82 · 29/08/2023 19:59

Congrats @Soph194 🥳 @Muva306 and @PLJ44 I'm sending positive vibes, tomorrow is the day 🤞🤞
