Ive already sent the MR in just a waiting game but will definately take it further if declined again

Legofigure · 03/07/2022 10:50

I’m being backdated £1303 then get £150 a week due to my son receiving HRC

You won’t get an extra £150 per week on top of the standard child element due to HRC. You can see the amounts here. For 22/23, the disabled child element is £3545 per year and the severely disabled child element is £1430 per year on top of that, so that’s £95.67 per week.

Bournecrazy · 03/07/2022 18:46

@Legofigure maybe they are including everything in the total to get the £150.

I currently get £104 a week tax credit, if we did get DLA and got the little extra we'd get around £170 a week in total for tax credit.

Starting to get nervous that my boys application will be declined, he’s 15 at the end of this month so not even sure it’s worth putting myself through all the stress for a year, I’ve sent as much evidence as I could, his EHCP that states he has 1-1 support all the time and has to be escorted in and out of the building, his last 2 letters from the CAMHS psychiatrist which includes diagnosis, his sleep problems and the amount of extra support he needs at home and school, and his care plan from the early intervention team so don’t think there’s much else I could have done

40anddoingitagain · 03/07/2022 20:56

@FightingForMyBoy i know it must seem pointless but it will help him apply for pip when he’s older. He clearly needs additional support. Good luck with the application x

doadeer · 03/07/2022 21:02

If you get dla is there anything else that you can apply for? Cards for my son to show he has a disability or anything?

Hammers91 · 03/07/2022 21:45

@Bournecrazy @Legofigure yeah i meant all together not extra, before DLA I was getting £56 a week now increased to £150

Legofigure · 03/07/2022 21:51

Hammers91 ah I understand.

Doadeer You can apply for carer’s allowance, and if you claim UC or CTC they increase. It also means you become exempt from the benefit cap. You may also be entitled to an extra bedroom.

HRM automatically qualifies for a blue badge.

If DC is over 8y/o and you go to the cinema there’s a CEA card.
Look at disabled railcard and a concessionary travel pass.
If 2y/o you can get free early years funding.
If 3 or 4y/o and the child attends an early years provider they can apply for disability access funding.
Some councils use DLA or carer’s allowance as proof for a carer’s grant.

There’s the max card and access card. Some places use them for ride access passes or free/reduced carer tickets, although for most places neither are essential as organisations usually accept the DLA letter, especially if you get HRC or HRM, or a medical letter as evidence anyway - one notable recent exception is merlin if DC doesn’t get high rate care or mobility and doesn’t have a blue badge.

Unrelated to DLA there are many different charities offering various grants. And, if you need your home adapting the disabled facilities grant may be worth investigating. You could also look at the Water Sure Scheme.

FightingForMyBoy · 04/07/2022 07:17

@40anddoingitagain thanks for your kind reply, I don’t know about anyone else but I found the forms really upsetting to fill in, it took me 2.5 years to actually fill them in

kinzzzz · 04/07/2022 08:05

Yeah i feel you it isnt nice but it helps them out in the long run x

Amberb83 · 04/07/2022 08:12

Does anyone know where they are up to with dates?? Scanned April 27th had two letters now 'sorry you've not heard yet'

Mummy2boys1520 · 04/07/2022 09:45

Just been on the phone they changed my decision after doing a mandatory decision, he now gets higher rate care and higher rate mobility and he has no diagnosis hope this helps

Bournecrazy · 04/07/2022 09:50

@Mummy2boys1520 thats great, what was the previous decision?

ToniFreddie · 04/07/2022 09:50

My scan date was 13th April, been with a decision maker since last Tuesday and still waiting. I rang this morning and the guy said I should hear today (won't hold my breath) but if not then ring back Wednesday. Not quite sure what they can do Wednesday probably tell me to ring back Friday 🤷‍♀️

Mummy2boys1520 · 04/07/2022 09:58

@Bournecrazy higher rate care and lower rate mobility

kinzzzz · 04/07/2022 10:57

Thats brilliant news 🥰 glad fhey have sorted you x

Mum2Two91 · 04/07/2022 11:14

@Mummy2boys1520 Congratulations!! Fantastic news! When did you send your MR back? And sorry if this is being cheeky but what evidence did you send in with MR? It’s been nearly 3 weeks since I sent my Sons MR back and sounds similar to yours. It’s so amazing seeing others get their children the awards they deserve! So happy for you.

Mummy2boys1520 · 04/07/2022 11:22

@Mum2Two91 i sent it on may 24th, I sent a letter stating why I didn't agree with them that's all and then the decision maker called me Saturday and I said why I think they was wrong and where they could fine the supporting evidence in what I had already sent them and they have awarded it me now

doadeer · 04/07/2022 11:54

Sorry @Legofigure I just saw your reply so helpful thank you.

GerriJnr · 04/07/2022 12:35
