Well done though glad u got what lo deserved x

Sodie · 19/07/2022 11:00

@Bournecrazy been awarded for two years middle rate care and high mobility. Husband is saying to appeal the care but the mobility is what mattered to me because we desperately need a car that fits the wheelchair and other things besides.

kinzzzz · 19/07/2022 12:05

Aslong as u have put in extra care u provide for him as appose to a typical child of his age you should be fine... i didnt know this even after i sent the MR off but i wrote a typical day with my child so hopefully that was enough along with other letters ive sent x

Sodie · 19/07/2022 12:44

My daughter's was very straightforward. Basically the person initially contacted said my daughter is in a mainstream school, doesn't need a wheelchair, no mental health issues, sleeps/wakes fine. The reality is my daughter had two weeks in year 7 last Sept before she got ill. She has severe mental health needs and is waiting a placement in a specialist mental health day school unit. But is too unwell to go as she is only awake 6-7 hours a day. She uses a wheelchair from wheelchair services full time and can only walk a few steps. Yes we have put in a complaint against the medical professional they have spoken to originally.

Update!!
just phoned, scan date 22nd April,
my 2 year old son has just been awarded middle rate care for 2 years which I am over the moon about as I want to re apply when he is 3.
he dosnt start nursery until September and isn’t fully diagnosed yet.
good luck to everyone who is waiting 💙.

Kc1999x · 19/07/2022 12:51

Congratulations! When you say re apply when he’s 3, do you mean go for mobility? X

Eelcamomma · 19/07/2022 13:19

Just rang up again :(
We've been refused. Looks like we're going for a MR

Sodie · 19/07/2022 13:31

@Eelcamomma We have just been awarded after a MR. Went from nothing to mrc and hrm. It was about five weeks and I did it over the phone the same day we were refused then followed up with evidence. Good luck

kinzzzz · 19/07/2022 14:39

The good thing about MRs is its someone else and not the same DM that looks at it x

Kirstiiee · 19/07/2022 14:52

@Kc1999x yeah, the charity that helped me filled the forms said that he should be accepted as he isn’t diagnosed or in nursery yet xx

Kc1999x · 19/07/2022 15:22

see im in the same sort of position except my son is at nursery and his teachers think he would qualify for it, my sons award is until 2025 so im curious when mobility forms come should I just do both the care and mobility rather than just the mobility because I didn’t want to do an MR as i wanted to wait for all evidence from consultants that we should have august time but I know under SMI you need HRC, if that makes sense🤦🏽‍♀️😂

Poppysmum14 · 19/07/2022 20:19

Hi my daughters been awarded mrc, I’m just waiting for letter to tell uc, if I ask then to back date the disability and caters element will that be all deducted as I work? Also will I still have to work 16 hours? Or will I no longer have work commitments xthanks x

FoolShapeHeart · 19/07/2022 22:33

What's the name of the FB group please? (I've searched but comments aren't listed 🙄)

All elements are subject to deductions. You won’t be required to work.

Been lurking here for a few weeks..11yo ds awarded mrc and lrm. No text or anything but had packpay from end of April go into account today which prompted me to call. Scan date was 27th April.

Doea anyone know how long it takes for them to send the letter through confirming award etc?

Sodie · 20/07/2022 08:28

I'm hoping the letter comes by the end of the week. I didn't even have a text just had a high balance alert. We had over 3.1k backdated which was a lovely surprise. Especially after initially being turned down and having to go for a MR.

Chay123 · 20/07/2022 14:33

Hi everyone. Nervously awaiting word on dla. 7 yo son has been diagnosed with autism. I did the forms myself and sent a few different reports off, thing is I find the forms massively distressing, feels awful writing about him in that way. Anyway, all sent my scan date is 1st July, even tho I made the call for the forms on 25th may… will they use that date as that’s what I read? So nervous, I know I haven’t been waiting that long, but I never applied when awaiting diagnosis.. I didn’t realise you could until I looked into it after his diagnosis. Thank you lovelies xxx
