Hi All,

Hope you're all well.

My scan date is 8th April for a new claim. I called today just before 5pm to see where they are at with claims. I got a lovely lady on the phone who checked and said that mines not even with a DM yet. I asked what dates they were up to and she said they're no longer allowed to give specific dates but did said that by 10 weeks it's normally been passed to a DM. She went and checked with her team leader and came back and said it should be passed to a DM by the end of the week so to call back next Friday for an update which will be 12 weeks by then. Aaaargh!

Hopefully you all get some good news this week with your claims. Good luck all 😀

Hammers91 · 20/06/2022 18:30

@Kayla77 you’re the same scan date as me!

rang for the forms 7th March, took me so long to fill out as it was so daunting and constantly felt I was repeating myself😩

Boymama831 · 20/06/2022 19:54

@Amberb83 hopefully not much longer now for you 🤞🏽 that’s the same here in NI waiting lists are crazy, 3.5yrs for asd assessment, we have been waiting just over a year but they are providing the same support for him as they would if he had a diagnosis probably because it’s pretty clear he will be diagnosed so I’m not complaining but if you are not getting the help needed 20weeks is a long time to wait

Kell220781 · 20/06/2022 22:47

Hi everyone I’m a newbie. But had a read through the thread. My 4 year old son was diagnosed with ASD, developmental delay and pica (he’s also non verbal) in March I sent off claim form which was dated as received 4th April and received a text Friday 17th saying he had been awarded. Not sure what rates or when it will be paid but hope it might give others still waiting an idea on where they’re upto

gemma1988 · 21/06/2022 06:50

Hi my claim was looked at on Friday and I was told money would be in the bank today there is nothing there. Do you think I should ring or wait one more day ?

SickKid · 21/06/2022 08:43

@gemma1988 on the fb group people have asked this and it takes 3-5 working days, so will probably be in tomorrow, or Thursday depending on how late in the day it was sent Friday

NoWordForFluffy · 21/06/2022 08:47

BACS payments are 3-5 working days, so I don't think it's late yet.

gemma1988 · 21/06/2022 08:49

Thank you

Twinmummyanda7yearold · 21/06/2022 10:04

Anyone waiting for 12th April, caved and rang this morning, the lady told me it was highly likely that my claim would be looked at next week 🤞🏼🤞🏼 so I need to keep myself super busy now and promise myself not to ring again until at least a week today 🤣🤣

NoWordForFluffy · 21/06/2022 10:12

Thank you for taking one for the team, @Twinmummyanda7yearold! 🤣🤣

Next week though? Gah!

Twinmummyanda7yearold · 21/06/2022 10:48

@NoWordForFluffy she asked me when was the last time I rang... I felt silly saying Friday 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣 so 'justified' it with 'well it's been 10 weeks now' 🤣 so I'm gunna sit on my hands until Tuesday next week at the earliest now 😕

Hopeful110 · 21/06/2022 12:34

I rang this morning as its been 13 weeks tomorrow for my claim for my daughter, the lady was lovely to be fair and told me after the DM looking at her claim for a week the decision was made on Friday to award MRC, told letter will be with us in 10 days, awarded for 2 years...is that common with young babies to award for only 2 years at a time? Her condition isn't going to change throughout her lifetime as she has moderate to severe conductive hearing impairment which means she has 71% hearing loss so has a softband hearing aid as shes not got normally formed ears... my other half thinks she's entitled to HRC but I thought we did well with MRC...any opinions?

Legofigure · 21/06/2022 13:15

Awards range from 1 year to until the child is 16. 2 years is a normal award length. DD’s condition may be lifelong but her needs may change or change in comparison to peers the same age.

HRC is harder to get, although still possible, for younger DC as some night wakings/care is more expected in babies/toddlers compared to older DC.

Hopeful110 · 21/06/2022 20:51

@Legofigure thanks, yeah I guess by the age of 2 we will have a better understanding of her care needs throughout the day and night, so will be able to differ the needs from other DC her age by that point, I hope you all get the results you want for the kiddies :)

April202 · 21/06/2022 21:26

Anyone no how long took for carers to be done thankyou

Kell220781 · 21/06/2022 22:00

So little update I received a payment into my bank today from dla so guessing that’s the backdated pay. No matter how I try and work it I can’t figure out what rate my son has been awarded. Does anyone know how it works. I’m assuming payment was made Friday when I received the text. Do they just pay what’s owed or do you also get your first months payment included. I’m not sure if DlA is paid in advance or arrears
I know when I receive the letter it will explain it but I’m impatient 😂
hope that makes sense

NoWordForFluffy · 21/06/2022 22:13

When did you request your form, and how much was it, @Kell220781?

Kell220781 · 21/06/2022 22:21

I printed the form off had a letter stating they received it on 4th April. I received a text on Friday just gone (17th June ) confirming her had been awarded then received a payment today for £1013.60

Kell220781 · 21/06/2022 22:23

Sorry I didn’t request the form I just printed it from the website !!!

NoWordForFluffy · 21/06/2022 22:29

Potentially HRC, I think. Does your child have nighttime care needs?

Kell220781 · 21/06/2022 22:33

Yeah I’m up and down most nights with him can get up 4-5 times a night. Sometimes less (thank god)

NoWordForFluffy · 22/06/2022 07:55

You must be knackered!

Thankfully we don't have nighttime issues anymore. Used to, until DS was 4. He's taken to refusing to sleep alone though, recently, so has his sister's bottom bunk. She's not always that impressed!

I suppose the payment could be weird as it's a partial payment for part of the week. Or maybe it's because you maybe have one week at last year's rate? 🤷‍♀️

Twinmummyanda7yearold · 22/06/2022 09:33

Ok so I've just seen someone on the Facebook group get awarded from 28th April 😳 and they say they do them in date order 🤔 how do some people get so lucky? 🤣🤷🏻‍♀️

Kell220781 · 22/06/2022 09:40

It’s is but you kind of just get used to it don’t you my other son whose 9 has always had sleep issues could be still awake at 11.30-12.00 at night he was diagnosed with adhd in March (after 4 years ) and prescribed circadin which knocks him out by 9.30 so I’m only dealing with the little one on a night now.

Bizzlemizzle · 22/06/2022 10:20

@Kell220781 were the same!! 8 year old and he's on 10mg of melatonin and some nights even that won't knock him out. After school holidays they are looking to trial him with something else but I'm a little more concerned about it as it will lower his blood pressure but from what they said it won't be a frequent thing, it will just be there in desperate need.

Weve also found with the melatonin he might go to sleep by 11 but then be up wide awake at half 3.
