Hello. I’m new to this.
they received my youngest sons on 22nd April.
he is 2 in June and is non verbal, and being assessed for autism we are waiting for the final appointment which can take up to 1 year because of waiting lists. I’m so worried he won’t get accepted. I know he can’t get mobility as he is to young atm. I have been worrying so much.

my oldest son who is now 10 as ADHD, high sensory needs, anxiety and being assessed for autism also get it, he gets middle rate care and low rate mobility and is on 3 lots of medication but he was awarded this before he was diagnosed.

xx

Hi, my daughter is 5 months old and has bilateral microtia atresia with conductive hearing loss in both ears so has to have a softband hearing aid. Her dla forms were scanned on March 23rd and I rang them for an update last week and one minute she said our forms are with the dm but then in the next breathe said they were working on claims upto 7th march... haven't heard anything else from them but hopefully won't be too long! I'm so nervous though!

Shell2020 · 21/05/2022 08:51

Hi, my form was scanned (for a new claim) on 18th March. I called up on Thursday and spoke to a lovely lady. She said that my claim has not been looked at but I should hear from them with a decision in 1/2 weeks. She also said that sometimes the payment will show before any communication is received from them and that texts/emails are not always sent advising if you have been awarded or not so keep checking the bank for a back payment just in case.

I’m new to all this and just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone on here as this thread has been so helpful recently.

I will let you all know when I get my decision, good luck to everyone waiting!!

Bournecrazy · 21/05/2022 10:38

I'm well behind the rest of you, but I finally received my 'we've got it' letter, so I can stop stressing over it. It was posted on 5/5 but scanned 10/5 they say give it 8 weeks if I don't hear anything but I know its longer than that.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/05/2022 10:49

I'm trying really hard to not think about it too much (not sure this thread and the FB group are entirely conducive to that! 🤦‍♀️).

I could ring to update my bank details, as I've changed. Though that feels presumptive and like tempting fate. The money would be forwarded by my old bank anyway, so it's not even a real problem!

I'm crap at waiting.

Abbiec24 · 21/05/2022 12:02

My form for my son was scanned on 9th March, it's coming up 11 weeks and still heard nothing when I rang weeks ago to make sure they had the form he said it would be a 10 week wait. I recently received a letter off them about a delay so I'm hoping its not too long of a wait I just want a decision now. My son has speech delay he is the age of 4 starting reception this September and only I can understand what he is trying to say, I really hope he's awarded as it will mean I can support him alot more by not working as much as I need too and give him the 1 to 1 time he needs for his speech and language therapy homework and to buy him the things he needs and take him to places to help him as much as I can ill be devastated if it's a no as I can barely afford a day out for him nowadays and I work as much as I can to provide so I feel like I'm not supporting him as much as I could and I want him to be as ready for reception as I can get him even though salt told me to not be expecting him to be talking like his other peers in the class 😩

Masonandme · 21/05/2022 14:20

BoyMama1 · 21/05/2022 20:58

Hi everyone.
I hope you're having a nice weekend.

Can you give me some advice - if we get a decision for e.g middle rate care and we ask them to look at their decision again, and then submit even more evidence, to see if we can achieve high rate especially if we believe we meet the criteria for it, what are the chances of them saying 'No sorry here's lower rate', can they do that!? After saying they do believe the child achieves middle.

Also, if you ask for a decision to be looked into do you have to wait for the decision before receiving any sort of payment? Or will I be paid middle until they make up their new decision?
Hope that makes sense what I'm trying to say.

I found more evidence which is really annoying because the school have said how badly he struggles and I believe that information is vital. So I do want to get it sent in.

Nicky80catri · 21/05/2022 22:04

@BoyMama1 yes definitely send the school info in Hun x

Thank you! I will ring I'm very anxious about ringing as I'll be devastated for him if he isn't offered this support, nursery have concerns etc on his development so I've got all my fingers crossed on this as it will benefit him so much I'm guessing my decision letter is probably in the post now but I will ring, congratulations on your award xx

I think they can yes.

I think my daughter needs hrc hrm but worried about doing an MR

Ilovetea13 · 22/05/2022 10:20

Hi everyone, it's still moving slowly isn't it. I was scanned 31st of March so judging where there upto(11 March going off this thread) I've got another 3-4 weeks wait yet 🙄 driving me potty! Just want to know if I've been awarded anything at all now. Hoping for at least the lowest, I think she deserves higher but I was honest and didn't exaggerate on anything(my child has autism and a bone condition which makes her struggle with her mobility(can walk but is extreamly slow ect can't do typical things in PE ). I rang for forms on the 28th of Feb so one good thing is the fact it will all be back paid. I had a good written report off somebody who knows the child from my child's school.
I'm changing my doctors this week due to moving area and hadn't got round to it yet, do I need to ring Dla to update which doctors we are at?

BoyMama1 · 22/05/2022 11:34

@Naomis121 it's disgusting that children/families are going without their higher award because we're frightened and settle for less then what we deserve.

I will ask when I get my award what consequences will I face if I ask for an MR, and whether they will stop payment until MR is made. And if I do go down the MR route will they penalise me and lower the rate out of spite - because that's what I seems like!
You can one minute read the form, then think middle, read the form with the same words and think low it's outrageous. Most people claim this benefit because they NEED it for their child. Now I'm a massive sensitive person anyway and filling in these forms broke my heart and I was reduced to tears because picking my child apart and admitting what is wrong with my child was so HARD because as a mother I'm sure we can all agree on here we just adapt to them and get on with it.xxx

I understand exactly what you are saying, it doesn’t make much sense for them to say yes middle rate awarded and then because we think it’s wrong, they would possibly lower it! Honestly makes no sense.

i want to call tomorrow and ask for an MR on her mobility for really worried to do so x

BoyMama1 · 22/05/2022 14:06

@Naomis121 bless you. I truly understand your fear. Definitely speak to them as the person on the phone is actually an adviser and their job is to advise us on the conditions of their service. So if you want to ask, do it, it's all coming from a place of care and love for your child. I was always told to get the name of the person you speak to as a reference, and I write down everything that's said to me xx

SareyJ · 22/05/2022 14:23

Hi,
I sent my sons new claim off 8th March they received/scanned 9th March- called repetitively since end of march to make sure they got everything and to see what's going on to be told so many different things! Apparently his is with a decision maker, coming into the 11th week now and my anxiety is going through the roof to say the least. Last person I spoke to Thursday said he'd sent an email to one of the managers chasing my sons claim as its coming into the 11th week and agreed its been with decision maker for a week already that it at least should've been looked at but hasn't! I will be ringing again tomorrow as he advised me to do so for any update so fingers crossed 🤞the stress of all this is making me ill. Has anyone received their decision yet from March?
Thanks

Sarah3587 · 23/05/2022 01:23

I wouldn’t worry about your sons speech he’s not even 2 yet. None of the boys in my family spoke till they were 3-4 years old. I thought that was normal for boys? Have you sent any other supporting evidence? as they may use his age as a factor in things.

BoyMama1 · 23/05/2022 09:42

Morning everyone
My scan date was 15th Mar
Got a decision today of HRC & LRM

I am so glad it's all complete and I can now provide a better life for my son.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do now for universal credit, as I'm not sure what to do now!
Thank you to everyone on this thread, sharing their highs and their lows because without checking this page everyday I would of felt so alone. You've kept me in the loop with where their office workload is at and helped me keep calm.xx
