That's all really, stays awake till about 10 or 11, hitting, spitting, throwing, scratching. He has done this every night for 4 months. I am soooo tired and tearful.

OMG he was asleep within 30 mins, and no nonsense at all.
So shocked, it must be the medicine finally working.

Really hope you have some good luck tonight, Jackster, and everyone else.

Once my ds is asleep he stays asleep. I really think its a behavioural issue rather than anything else. This makes me feel a bit of a fraud compared to all the things some of you are going through.
The other stuff, during the day, is more of an issue, and we are eventually getting people taking us seriously, but this sleep issue seems like a habit he has got into.

Asleep here too. Yay!

Sometimes sleeps through, sometimes doesn't.

Hope you are getting to enjoy some relaxation time, ilove.

I would ask for melatonin syrup if it is just a falling to sleep thing. It's short acting and is a naturally occurring substance so may suit better in the long term. I thing gPs are a bit reluctant to prescribe as I believe it's expensive!

iloveithere · 30/07/2014 21:09

Seems to be asleep within 45 mins tonight, hopefully.
Hope you are all ok.

That's good, ilove. Smile

Relatively ok evening here too.

iloveithere · 02/08/2014 19:23

Only gave him 5ml of medicine last night, it didn't work, didn't sleep till 10.30.
So this isn't really solving the problem, just giving us a few nights temporary relief.

iloveithere · 02/08/2014 20:20

Just dropped off. How're you doing, ilove?

iloveithere · 02/08/2014 23:02

Fine thanks, we gave him 7.5ml which seemed to work. Just don't really see the point, as after the course is finished we will be back to square 1.
Glad your ds is finally asleep jackster, hope you can get some rest now.

First night of no medicine. Everything else about his routine will be the same, but I'm dreading it. Trying not to show ds that my anxiety levels are rising as the minutes pass.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes. Thanks

Well, he has been in bed just a few mins, and is currently thrashing about, kicking the wall, which he didn't do on the medicine, he just lay down and went to sleep. So not looking good, but I'm hoping and keeping my fingers crossed.
How are you all getting on?

Just my tuppence worth - DD 4.5, ASD on melatonin and slow release melatonin, plus work with sleep agency etc. Took 10 days to fully kick in
and she's been sleeping 11 hours a night solidly almost every night. And she looks better, behaves better, seems more alert - and shes smiley in the morning. Made me realise Im not just drugging her up cos I cant cope w it. Its benefitting her hugely. I wish we'd done this earlier I resisted so long cos I felt bad about 'drugging' her. I wish someone had explained this to me properly cos actually now I see I didnt really get it.

Good luck tonight ladies and wish you real solutions/improvements soon xx

Firsttimer7259 · 06/08/2014 20:20

And Im so sorry iloveit, Ive been there and its awful.

iloveithere · 06/08/2014 20:54

Still wide awake, but calm and not fighting,so that is not too bad.

I wondered if my gp would prescribe melatonin, ds does not have asd so I'm not sure if he would.

And here comes the fight.....

OP posts:
iloveithere · 06/08/2014 21:09

He is trying to read a book. It's pitch black in there!

OP posts:
iloveithere · 06/08/2014 21:16

Now he is throwing stuff at his door and making up excuses why he cant go to bed.
