That's all really, stays awake till about 10 or 11, hitting, spitting, throwing, scratching. He has done this every night for 4 months. I am soooo tired and tearful.

I tried to creep away at about 915 but he heard me. Finally made it downstairs at 930. I sometimes wonder if I am being too indulgent, with all this sitting on the floor, but then I remember how it uses to be, and I can't go back to that. Glad your ds slept in his bed, jackster.thats progress.

I'm here! Ds just dropped off - actually in his bed not on the sofa which is progress. Are you still thee now, ilove?

I am sooooooo bored, sitting on the floor whilst dd builds a den out of sheets instead of sleeping.

Ds is asleep now, dh lay on the floor next to his bed for an hour.
Back home tomorrow, school on Thursday, so I hope we can get back into some type of routine. The weekend away has been fun though.

I'll let you know about the sleep plan. The clinic was questions about his routine from getting in from school, his room, its temperature, where it is in relation to other rooms in the house, the street, etc, who else slept in the house, and what we wanted a successful bed time to look like.
I found it quite helpful just to think about the ultimate goal, not just a vague 'go to sleep better' but specifics like what time I want him to have dinner, with who, what we wanted the bed time routine to consist of, what time we want to start it, and what time we would, ideally, like him to fall asleep.

Jackster, I like your plan about letting him stay up till he is ready. I know it sounds odd, but if it stops the upset, it might be worth it. The only reason we haven't tried it is that dd, being older, would then get upset that she didn't get to stay up later than him.

Would be interested to hear whether the sleep plan is of any help.

DS is watching a movie. We're so desperate now to avoid the horrendous bedtime meltdowns, that we're basically letting him stay up until he drops. Yeah not great I know, but we don't really know what else to do at the moment!

DH sent a video clip of a night time meltdown to his DM; she was horrified. Made me feel a bit better somehow, having someone acknowledge how hellish this is.

Sad

Hope things settle down soon ilove. More Wine.

Well, the sleep clinic was one hour of them asking us questions. They will write us a sleep plan and post it to us, with a review in a few months. So i don't know what will come out of it yet.
We are away for a few days, first night was horrid, didn't sleep till 12, after a 1.25 hour drive. Yesterday he fell sleep immediately, and tonight he is still awake. I think he is hoping for another long drive, but dh and I both had a glass of wine, so that isn't happening.
Hope things settle soon, jackster.

Hello! That sounds like progress, ilove. Smile

Things are shitty here, on the sleep front. We've been away on holiday but back now so I'm praying things will settle down. But with start of school coming up, I'm not optimistic about DS' anxiety levels over the coming weeks so we're in for a rocky time I think!

Let us know how sleep clinic goes!

Hi all, I just thought I'd check in and see how you are all doing. I'm sitting outside ds room, as usual, but usually only 20-30 mins these days, and no raging, just reading.
We have the sleep clinic appointment this week, which I haven't had the guts to cancel, I feel it could all go wrong at any time, so still want their advice.

one night out of routine and we are right back to where we began.
We had to stay at my mums on Saturday night, DS was as good as gold.
However, since then, back at home, he has been right out of routine, awake late, etc etc.
grr.

hope you are all doing ok.

Hey, anyone around this eve? Having a rubbish eve. dS is running round the house, alternating between crying, whining, and a sort of hyperventilating thing. Point blank refusing to go to bed. Arghhhh. We have had some late nights but not actually this distressed stuff for quite a few nights now. It's so disheartening. Sad
