kmummy same here I can lend a hand as only bringing DS and I am used to running Grin

elliejjtiny · 28/10/2012 23:27

Did you include my 3 DS's on the list. They are 6, 4 and 1. I'll bring a few toy cars and try to dig out our plastic sheet with road markings etc on. Not sure if we'll last the whole 4 hours before Ds1 starts moaning that he wants to go back on the train, DS2 starts moaning about the noise and DS3 tries to escape out of the door but we'll be there at the start at least!

NoHaudinMaWheest · 28/10/2012 23:43

Yes ellie your three are on the list.

I have had an email from the new coordinator of MN local in Exeter asking if we wanted her to advertise our meetup on the local board. I emphasised that we were meeting for mutual support of parents with children with SNs and said I would ask what people thought.

I feel that an open advert on the local board feels too exposed but obviously don't want to be cliquey. I thought of saying something along the lines of we were meeting as parents of children with SNs giving time and date but asking people to pm me for location.

She would also like to pop in while we are meeting to introduce herself as she is keen for MN to be a source of community support. Thoughts on that too please.

zzzzz Actually you precisely reflect my feelings. I just felt that I had to be 'reasonable' about it.

I leave it a bit to get other reactions but will let everyone know what I am going to say before I say it.

Another hermit here :)

I am not sure but I have explAined to ds how many DCs will be there and mums etc so the thought of a lot of people turning up fills me with dread let alone if I tell ds as I can't really explain how big it's going to be with 2 days to go.

Maybe say this is our first initial meeting ands the DCs due to thei an have been prepared already. Say we are thinking of making it a regular occurrence perhaps and next time plan in advance? But by all means say she is welcome to come herself :)

coff33pot · 29/10/2012 12:46

Their SN silly phone x

moleskin · 29/10/2012 15:04

Ooh dd will like being the only girl amongst boys ;)

NoHaudinMaWheest · 29/10/2012 16:38

Right I will get back to the Exeter person and say
we are from all over the SW
we know each other from SN board but have made it open to anyone who uses this board so are not being exclusive
to accommodate our Dcs SNs we have already prepared them for how many people are likely to be there
so we don't think further advertising is appropriate.

Sent an email saying thanks but no thanks.

I feel exactly the same. There will be 8-10 mothers and about same number of children.

I agree. This will sound awful but I've never met other mums in my situation. Spend everyday as the outsider :(

Right I'm bringing three of my four. There aged 7, 3 and 1 - the 8 year old will stay with his dad :)
