Honk!

Well done on the offer of a school place, fantastic!

Feeling very gloomy here, so I will curl up in the corner with a blanket, some wine and peanuts and just listen to the chatter if that is ok.

Great news indeed re your DD. I hope she will be very happy at her school.

May I just have a soft drink please. Ta muchly.

This week has not been too bad overall chez Meerkat although have received the date of the annual review (meh!). Hopefully it will go as smoothly as it did last year, am taking along my best advocate aka Mr M so he can talk and run rings around them!!.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 14/09/2012 15:54

Have brought along some apple pie for you all. There is also some Ben and Jerrys Red Velvet cake ice cream along with their Peach Cobbler ice cream (all very delectable indeed). Only wish it was available here.

lisad123 · 14/09/2012 16:05

Congratulations in the school place well done.
Dd1 seems to have settled well into new school however, dd2 not so much. She's falling over a lot and very upset and had quite a few meltdowns.
I could seriously do with wine even if it's early Smile

StarlightMcKenzie · 14/09/2012 16:09

Yay unchartered!

Well done to you. We all know these places aren't just handed out! Smile

2old2beamum · 14/09/2012 16:09

Well done unchartered re school AND within walking distance Envy
Open Wine ++
Not good here DD2 managed to fracture 3 bones in foot now in plaster I have 3 to shower now.
DS5 having seizures at school (dread 'phone ringing)
DD5 waking at midnight makes a hell of a din still awake at 06.00 getting up time.
But we are all still here largeWine tonight!!

StarlightMcKenzie · 14/09/2012 16:12

I bring 'decorate your own gingerbread men' as that is what we'll all be having for dinner tonight if DH doesn't get my message about stopping off at the supermarket.

UnChartered · 14/09/2012 16:18

i haven't heard a peep from DLA, i posted it 2 weeks ago. i was a bit worried that they hadn't rec'd it so called the helpline, spent 20 mins pressing buttons and on hold only to get cut off by the person on the other end because she said she couldn't hear me

it's a little bit of a double edged sword about school though, lots of you lovely people are feeling the backlash of frustrations from your DCs attending school....

intothewest · 14/09/2012 16:49

Hi all
I'm Envy of the walking distance too.DS has rather a long journey on the bus.
Hazey-sorry you're feeling gloomy.
2old-you've got your hands full then!
(scoffs ice cream) I have a tiny bit of gin(hmmm...shop's not far)
Well DS is happy at school, but he's not been clean and dry at school like he's been at home .Oh well. keep on trying Smile

Badvoc · 14/09/2012 16:50

Great news unchartered!
Ok here...ds2 poorly and ds1 seems to be coming down with it too :(
Ds1 has started to make a Greek trireme for his half term project....not stressful at all! :$
Have painted the hall, stairs and landing yellow.
This was a mistake.
Dh will divorce me if I tell him I dont like it :(
Have started painting the kitchen mint green which I do like :)

Lolaismyfavouriteandmybest · 14/09/2012 16:55

I came home to a DLA letter confirming that we can keep LRM MRC until 2022! Grin Yes I know the benefit reforms will plunge us into poverty long before then as I get DLA too Sad but it is still a relief in the short term!

For those of you waiting I only had the letter to say they had received the forms as of 30th aug. can't believe it's sorted already! (sorry if I'm rubbing it in)

On the down side I now have to pay the lady who fills the forms in for me (used to be free through a charity but she got made redundant and is doing it part time now working for herself and charges 2 weeks DLA if successful) I have a form phobia so I would never have applied left to my own devices so I really am grateful (until the bit where I have to find the cash half way through the month....).

Grin to U-C and Sad to the many with bad weeks.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 14/09/2012 17:03

Ha, I painted the living room terracotta back in the 90's. I though it would look rustic and ethnicky. It looked......orange, Blush badly 1970's orange and it was a bugger to paint over.

Glad it's mostly good news so far. I might join Hazey on the sofa, though. Boys are with their dad and it's getting to me this weekend. Pressure is on to get DS3 a secondary school place. He's not Dxed but pretty quirky and we are in a crap catchment. He's got to take the 11+ to keep some options open, but he hates practising and doesn't want to go to an all boys grammar anyway. Trouble is, the alternative doesn't bear thinking about.

It's all so minor compared to other people's problems, but I'm struggling with it all this week. Better crack open that gin. Wink

Lolaismyfavouriteandmybest · 14/09/2012 17:05

Aaaaaaaagh just found out that dd has saved 1034 screen shots of the disney faries onto my iPad!!!! Anyone know how to delete them in bulk? I can't only do it 1 by 1 and have carpel tunnel problems as it is!!!

Badvoc · 14/09/2012 17:07

It really is very yellow.....
Very.

UnChartered · 14/09/2012 17:25

i think the yellow will grow on you, it'll look fabulous on a cold winter's night, all warm and sunny?

i've just rung DLA, they have rec'd forms after all

anyone need a top up yet?

Wine

Evening all.
Excellent news on the school.place.

DD has been to school every dsy since term started.

That is all 7 days.

Which is chuffing smazing.

Even more amazing I haven't had to shout/argue/bribe/cajole/cry to get her there.

We no longer eat plain pasta. I shsll add bourbons to the table.

And no Wine as I'm working nights.

Honk! I haven't crashed a friday night thread in ages.

intothewest · 14/09/2012 17:28

I'm painting at the moment too-ceilings so far, which I hate
Years ago I painted a room in my parents' house peach, with battleship grey doors (it was very 'in' at the time) Blush

I'll join you in the gin ,Ellen.DHhas gone to get me some more Grin It has been that kind of week !

Badvoc · 14/09/2012 17:28

That's true!

alison222 · 14/09/2012 17:30

Glad to hear the mostly good news so far. 2old - Sad for the broken bones and lack of sleep. I hope this weekend allows you all to catch up a bit.

Scared that things seem to be running a bit too smoothly here. Just waiting in suspicion for the hammer to fall. DS seems to be settling into high school. HS still not doing everything they should but at least they are communicating. Got through cookery with eggs (allergy alert) by making something different,
Just been to see DD's teacher to see if he was even aware she is dyslexic. He is now!!
So I am planning to have a relaxing weekend. Off to bake cake to add to the table so egg free sticky gingerbread cake anyone?

UnChartered · 14/09/2012 17:31

i might have had some curtains in those colours into - with birds of paradise emblazoned on them Blush

HONK! for Sheela's DD going to school

if you are the same MNer, Sheela, how did you get on with DD and her mint obsessions?

OP posts:
OverflowingMum · 14/09/2012 17:34

oh god. sorry haven't been on in ...well forever- and sure you all don't even know me.... but two weeks into new term and want to pull my hair out already.
2 years of fighting for statement...finally issued in march...school still haven't met with me... still not giving input as in statement....sooooo tired of fighting all the time...not to mention actually dealing with dds special needs in the mean time.
am honestly convinced that having to deal with school is having SUCH a negative impact on my mental health. cant change school for lots of reasons...considering going back on anti d's just to cope with it all....really...does it all have to be soooo hard...
sorry all...in reality I know what I have to deal with is not a lot comapred to some, but I feel as if Ive reached my limit right now.....
off to refillWine

UnChartered · 14/09/2012 17:34

how did DD2 break her foot? Sad

OP posts:
hazeyjane · 14/09/2012 17:37

would you like a side order of raspberry and apple crumble with that, 2old2be? before I crawl back on the sofa to snoffle more peanuts and glug more wine....
