I'm not sure who normally starts this off, so apologies if I've inadvertently offended any of the usual MN posters Smile
What a week! Had a lovely weekend with family, saw my Dad who was over from Canada for a flying visit. I wake up at 4am on Monday morning in THE MOST HORRIFIC PAIN (seriously it needed the caps lock for emphasis!). Pain in my LHS kidney area. DH was up at that time to fly off to Germany got three days, so I asked him to get drugs, water and hot water bottle. He left about 4.20 quite worried. By 5 am I knew that the pain wasn't settling down and that I needed to go to hospital urgently. I managed to get him on M25 before he reached Heathrow. He came straight home and my Sister was mobilised to take me to A&E.
The pain turned out to be a kidney stone. It was worse than childbirth, and I've had 4DC! It passed 18 hours later, the size an apple pip.
I was so full of Tramodol that I couldn't do anything until Wednesday. I really don't understand why people take opium based drugs...... Shudder!
DS3 had a general anaesthetic yesterday, and that was the usual stress regardless of it being the 29th time that I've taken one of my kids to theatre. I will never get used to that shaking feeling you get after you've left them prone on a bed.
I am really looking forward to tomorrow, as I have my Maths GCSE lesson and then a girls dinner out with my best friend. Hopefully there won't be any dramas between now and then!!

Blimey sally what a week! Hope you and your ds are ok now?

Been a bit crap here - but nothing as bad as yours!! Been back to GP due to - wait for it! - a mini menopause triggered by the hormone meds I was on. She has taken me off them, but I still feel like roadkill. Taken some bloods so will see what happens...

Went to a funeral yesterday..the mum of an old friend. I am at that age now where I go to more funerals than weddings Sad

Going to a memorial tomorrow for a young guy in knew at school...pretty depressing week all round.

Ds1 is doing well. He is glad that its the hols though Smile

Hope you have all had a good week x

signandsmile · 30/03/2012 18:55

Hi sally, who ever gets there first starts the thread, so no probs there at all Grin.

Sounds like a &^%$ of a week! How was your ds after the anaesthetic?

Hi everyone else, the week at chez sign has not been the week at chez sign! Hmm Cos (cue drum roll) I have been away, Grin Grin it may have been only Butlins, but it was fab, all alone for 3 days, Grin and then my sis came to join yesterday (cos it was my Birthday) DS sang me happy birthday down the phone Grin, never thought I would hear that! so proud.

oodles of college work to do over the fortnight off, but ds and I are off on an ASD family break with an organisation called 'through the roof' in the second week of the hols, so I am looking forward to that.

How are you all this sunny Friday evening?

signandsmile · 30/03/2012 18:56

Bec cross post, sounds like a tough week, Sad

Becaroooo · 30/03/2012 18:59

Just...sad, you know? Makes me very grateful for what I have.

Oh, and the Rev at church wants me to join the parish church council....hahahahahahaha...if only they knew what they were letting themselves in for....Grin

signandsmile · 30/03/2012 19:01

oooo do it! Grin

Becaroooo · 30/03/2012 19:02

I am tempted...verrryyy tempted!

HolyCalamityJane · 30/03/2012 19:12

Sally sounds terrible! Beca a tough week hug your family and have a lovely weekend.

Have had a lovely week went to a spa overnight with my Mum didn't want to come back it was great.

DD doing great on her vitamin/supplement regime had our statement review and school delighted with her progress 5 smiley faces on her chart this week.

Have a great weekend everyoneGrin

PurplePidjin · 30/03/2012 19:14

for those who need it.

This week I'm still out of work, had two interviews. Yesterday's went well but was told a decision would be made today. I haven't heard anything. Today's I just shouldn't have bothered with. I was surprised to even get an interview and I totally cocked it up.

Looking forward to sil, mil and the kids coming down for easter weekend. They'll be staying with a uni mates of SIL's who is (we hope temporarily) disabled so I'm looking forward to a day of clearing out her spare room with/for her - depends how much she feels able to do - ready for the visitors! Dniece proofing someone else's house will be interesting, her chewing preferences seem to change on a daily basis Grin

Wine ignores necessity of peeing on a stick tomorrow

SallyBear · 30/03/2012 19:14

Bec you should!!! I have spent the past year standing up at MK Council Cabinet Meetings fighting to save our local council day nursery service. I won, and we secured a buyer. It was brilliant to see that your voice can make a difference to people's lives. Parish Council's do brilliant things, and it's ALL about Localism! Go for it! Grin

Sorry to hear about the sad business if funerals and memorials. I to am getting to the age when I must go to at least three a year. Sad

Signandsmile. Happy Birthday, and I really hope that you enjoyed some quality grown up you time. It's so important to remember that we may all be mums but we are also interesting, charming and funny women!Grin

SallyBear · 30/03/2012 19:18

I hope purple that you get the job that you want. I haven't worked since 1999 and the thought terrifies me!!!!

Holy - a spa?! You lucky, lucky thing!!! Very Envy Wink

signandsmile · 30/03/2012 19:20

purple stick peeing? anything we should know?????

thanks sally, and calamity that sounds a good week Grin.

PurplePidjin · 30/03/2012 19:33

Any job would be good tbh, although more care work would probably kill me.

Last period started around 6weeks ago, but I'm very irregular since I ditched the pill and the anti-d's last summer. We've been playing roulette a bit with the contraception and this month I lost track of my days. So, precautionary peeing!

If I am, I won't be bean-spilling on here yeah right

SallyBear · 30/03/2012 19:33

Sorry sign. DS anaesthetic went fine. He was cross and then calmed down to a quietly angry boy before we left Oxford and returned home via McD's. He was so much happier after a Happy Meal! Smile Thank you for asking.

SallyBear · 30/03/2012 19:36

Purple - how many DC have you got? I have 4 and that's enough for DH, though I would have another if I was younger and less knackered! Wink

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 30/03/2012 19:48

sally, dd3 generally feels better after a happy meal too Grin good to hear ds was ok after his ga, and no more glasses! Hope you're feeling better.

becs, sorry to hear about your friends, think we must be a similar age Sad

sign, big yay for some time away Smile well done to ds and happy birthday, although I shan't be singing unless you have ear plugs handy!

holy, spa sounds fab Envy and well done to dd Smile

Becaroooo · 30/03/2012 19:50

Oh ninja so sorry to hear that Sad

I am 40 this year and its starting to dawn on me that many of my peers have already lost parents/immediate family Sad

SallyBear · 30/03/2012 19:51

Ninja! Oh crap! I am so sorry to hear your news about your BIL. Have they caught it early enough. Saying a little prayer for you all. ((hugs))

OP posts:
PurplePidjin · 30/03/2012 19:58

Sally, no dc but 6 years experience in SN plus a dn (in law) with severe ASD mean this lot put up with me popping in and out Wink

Happy birthday, ninjagosling3. Hope BIL is treatable

I've been to way too many funerals, more than weddings, and I'm 30 and haven't been to one for a few years. Mostly grandparent-generation, a couple the same age as my folks, and one friend (we were teenagers at the time)

DameHermione · 30/03/2012 20:07

Hello All. Sounds like a bit of a crap one for lots of you this week Sad (BTW tis I, AYC, LadyFingers, etc etc). I really need a new name I can stick with.

Both DDs have been ill all week with the cold and cough from the very pits of hell. DD2 does not react well to illness at all.

But it is now Easter holidays so NO SCHOOL FOR 2 WHOLE WEEKS!!!!!! So no battling and arguing to get her there. phew!

It is DD2s birthday today too. 14 whole years! seems like yesterday she was a lovely snuggly pink baby. and now she isn't (but is fairly lovely in lots of ways).

So Wine [beer] Gin [coffee] [ribena] all round.

Chundle · 30/03/2012 20:10

Hi all!! Been quietish week in the chundle house! Got confirmation of dd2 pre school place for September today! Eeeek!!! She currently only sees a pead as portage were quik to discharge her as soon as she could do their puzzles etc so unfortunatley we will have no help on entering nursery :(
So at start of next term I shall be going in to see nursery teacher! Luckily dd1 teacher is the senco so that helps!
No way will dd2 cope with 5 sessions so need to arrange a gradual start.

Also got dd2 pead app on April 16 and if no joy we have decided to go private.... Off to London we go....

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 30/03/2012 20:11

thanks ladies, still early days so we don't know what's going to happen yet. They thought he'd had a stroke originally so are handing him over to the oncology lot to have a look at, it's sounding relatively positive so far, fingers crossed.

becs, I'm marginally older than you and have lost both my parents already, life can be cruel.

I'm certainly looking forward to a couple of weeks without the manic morning rush Smile The dcs have all been ratty this week so the break will do them all good.

signandsmile · 30/03/2012 20:15
