Evening all, how's the week been for everyone ?

I'm not sure where the week went... I can't believe it's Friday again... Grin College is going well, but the work is piling up... ds is off to his second birthday party with school friends tomorrow, am a bit nervous, (it's pottery painting) but I can whisk him away if all goes to pot Grin Wink.

I think I have finished the Christmas present shopping, and wrapped most of them, (sorry I know that is really sad Blush)....

Hi sign

Ds1 has had a great week Smile

Just met up with an old friend from school who I havent seen since we were 14!!! Was good Smile

Helping out at school refreshment stand tomorrow and another friend coming to see us, so busy day.

I have almost finished the xmas shopping but keep buying more bits for the dc...dh will go mad Grin

coff33pot · 11/11/2011 17:52

Hi all :)

Getting in early before the mad tea rush! Glad college is going well sign Hope your DS enjoys the pottery party I know mine would be thrilled to get messy with paint!

As for (bah humbug) Christmas............I havent as yet got a single pressie bought or wrapped Shock My deadline day for panic is next week when DH birthday arrives then I know I am officially on countdown. Toying with a new DSi XL for ds as he has worn out the two he had given him, they were second hand from his sister though. Think the bigger screen might be better. the 3D one is on offer in Game if you trade in a dsi you get it for £69.99. But I am not sure due to damaging his eyes. Shame they cant do it for anyone of the models! Middle dd is getting an ipod as her main pressie. Big DD bless her has asked for a years prescription payment card every year as she cant afford them all on her wages plus smellies and xmas socks and clothes.

Bec Bet you had some natter with your friend to catch up Grin and yes another reason I leave shopping so late is that I have a tendancy to add on and on and on Grin

All ok here this week, just had phone call from OT and DS has his assessement and to go over his profile scores next Tuesday so finally I might get some sort of report to help add weight to the proposed statement amendments. Should be able to cram it in in time heres hoping! Whole list of appointments the following week so my feet wont touch the ground and nor will DS feet but needs must. Everything else been relatively normal and thing I am going to chill out tonite and watch Australia on channel 4 dont know if its any good but if it isnt I will get a good nights sleep! Grin

signandsmile · 11/11/2011 18:07

Hi Bec sounds like a good week Grin. I'm the one who says 'ds doesn't need any more presents' in our family, Grin.

I had a friend drop in today, which was fab as she had passed her driving test, and I was her first solo visit. Grin

I'm busy making earings from the 'left over' beads we made during the jewellry course (paid for carers centre) Earings to be sold for funds... really ought to overhaul the 'to do' list as well.... as i know there is stuff I 'ought' to be doing instead... Grin

Hi All,

Sounds like you've had good weeks. Me too. Everything fairly relaxed. DDs parents night was on Tuesday. She's doing fine. A plodder, but generally gets work correct and behaviour is good.

We have DSs review meeting on Monday and hopefully that will be fine. I think everything is fine and so hope there will be no shocks. He's in a great Unit in a school, so would have expected to have heard if anything wrong.

Been doing craft work and have made a few small boxes to put cracker type things in instead of crackers. DS doesn't cope with the bangs.

DH has just called me for my meal. Back later.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 11/11/2011 18:20

Hi all:)

coff33pot, my DS has a 3DS and he really enjoys using it. If your DS likes Super Mario there's a new Mario game only for the 3DS coming out soon. My son uses the 3DS mainly for Pokemon games, driving games and Mario.

Have done some online shopping for Christmas presents. None of it is wrapped.

Christmas for the Meerkat family this year will be spent in Florida so no ILs (yay!). Last year I ended up with a really bad chest infection so practically all the pre season stuff planned got shelved. One tradition that has evolved over the years is that DS and I travel up to London to visit DH's workplace (a very different world to mine!) because its the one day family members are allowed into their inner sanctum. We can sit at DH's desk and just take it all in quietly bewildered by it all.

Received post annual review stuff today and that looks fine.

Voidka · 11/11/2011 18:26

Evening all,

This is my first friday evening thread, am I allowed to join in? Feeling a bit bruised after this week and DS has given me a thick lip.

I have chippy chips to share :)

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 11/11/2011 18:33

attila, I'm liking the sound of your christmas Smile I'd love to see a bit sun, especially after the non summer we had this year!

sign, you can go right off people you know Grin took a parcel in for my neighbour earlier this week, on collection she said that was the last of her christmas shopping, how do you manage it?! Got a few bits, but still a long way to go. Grin

becaroo, I so need to be more organised, how come some of you are so sorted?!

coffe, hope OT goes well Smile

creato, have a few knitting things planned now Smile

been trying to get the house sorted this week, looks like a bombsite but not getting very far, I need a new back and hips, it's really slowing me down and I'm feeling crap about it Sad

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 11/11/2011 18:34

voidka, ooooh chips, I have gin if anyone wants to share Smile

Triggles · 11/11/2011 18:36

Was my birthday yesterday, so am going out and having a few drinks "with the girls". Grin Both boys will be in bed when I leave, so DH only has to listen in case one of them wakes up, which is unlikely (they tend to sleep best until after midnight, THEN wake up Hmm Go figure!!), and check on them a few times. Easy peasy. He'll call me if any problems and I'll come right home. (we're going just down the street, so no need for driving or taxis or anything Grin)

I'll pop in later if I can. Hope everyone is doing well!

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 11/11/2011 18:37

happy birthday triggles, have a fab evening Smile

Hello all, welcome Voidka, don't you have any vodka to share?

Belated happy birthday, Triggles. I hope things are going well for you.

Too many to catch up with. Justa, DS2 is very active, I've always put it down to hypo sensitivity rather than ADHD, could that be the case?

Anyway, I've had a busy and social week, lots of friends rallying around etc. Boys are staying at Dickhead's tomorrow night, and I've got a night out planned, mainly to keep my mind off it. Wine started. Anyone want to share?

creatovator · 11/11/2011 19:02

Triggles Happy Birthday! Have a great evening Smile

Ninja Glad you've got your knitting planned. I'm 2/3 way through my current item. I'm not organised for Christmas either. Like you... a few bits, but still a ways to go. Can't help with back and hips unfortunately.

Voidka - pass the chips this way please.

Ellen I'll have some wine Grin.

I've got some Cutie Liqueur here if anyone fancies some.

coff33pot · 11/11/2011 19:02

Atilla can you play ordinary DS games on the 3DS?? We got a stack of them here so shame to waste. Super Mario is his favourite plus cooking mama and the simpsons. AND I am soooo jealous of you spending xmas in Florida!

Triggles Happy Birthday for yesterday :) Enjoy yourself tonight :)

Voidka Welcome to Friday! love chips! Currently sitting here munching marmite & cheese on toast yummmmmmmmmmmm

creator Glad your school meeting went well. Isnt it nice to have NICE meetings! Grin

ninja I sympathise on the house work! My washing machine broke down twice this month first brushes then pump.......still trying to catch up and fed up of walking up the mountain of clothes and down the other side to get into bed! Grin Its holding its own now thank goodness.

justa You will have to play camping! have you got a pound shop around and get some cheap giant cushions to sit around on, then chuck away when you go :) Sorry to hear you are a bit iffy with the pead appointment. I guess it will be a wait and see approach, maybe a diary or two? Had he done the diagnostic test for ADHD? (forgot the name right now)

Ineedalife · 11/11/2011 19:03

I am fed up and sad, due to situation with Dd3 and DGD.

I anyone is interested I have a thread running about Dd1 and DGDSad.

If you are going out have fun, we had chippy chips too but ate them all so none to share, sorrySmile.

zamzamzam · 11/11/2011 19:04

(can I join in?)

ds has had a mixed week - had a huge strop at RDA but they managed it well, let him lead the horse for 10 minutes & then he decided he wanted to ride afterall and he didn't put his hands over his eyes everytime he was spoken to. We went to the park in the afternoon & ds went off the play with another little boy Shock they were digging for bugs & talking about dinosaurs Shock He was ill on Wednesday with horrendous diarrhoea all over my mum's car - never sure if it a bug or result of withholding.

I got a few more ticks on his VB-MAPP, I think we've found a nice student to come & play with ds & dd for 3 hours a week. She's got a bit of ABA experience but not really a tutor - I'm hoping it will help them fight less & I can spend time with baby/do house work. I also went to a local home education meet up which was scary & hectic - I'd like to make some contacts but it is hard when all the other children are nt & can just run off unsupervised.

And the baby is teething.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 11/11/2011 19:10

Saw your thread, Ineed. Sad Didn't have any good advice, such a dilemma.

Hi Zam, how old is your DS? They are used to strops at RDA, I wouldn't worry. Teething baby, aaargh.

moosemama · 11/11/2011 19:14

Tonight ladies, I will be mostly worrying myself stoopid about ds1. Blush

He has gone off to his best friend's sleepover party, but has spent the last week in a state of constant anxiety about it. This morning he wouldn't let go of me in the playground because he knew he wasn't coming home again until tomorrow morning. He wouldn't even go and stand with his friend, which is unheard of. Sad

We gave him lots of chances to choose not to go - or just to go to the party, but not sleep over, but he's so scared of disappointing and therefore potentially losing his only friend and by extension becoming excluded from his peer group etc that he's literally forced himself to do it. Sad

I snuck up the playground to watch and see if he was ok when they left after school and he looked really awful, green/pale coloured with big dark circles under his eyes and was visibly anxious but trying to hold it together. In the end I decided to go and speak to him. Was all jolly 'have a great time' etc, but reminded him that he can get them to call us any time day or night if he can't cope. He went off with them looking all small and scared. Sad

It doesn't help that he was forced to eat someone else's lunch by a lunch supervisor the other day, after a huge kerfuffle because he found it on the floor and was putting it in the bin. Of course it was gluten and he has had headaches and a really bad stomach ever since and may potentially wet in the night if his bowel gets really inflamed - hence even more worry for him about tonight. Sad

Its so quiet here tonight without him as well. Now I know who makes all the noise around here!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 11/11/2011 19:14

Hi coff33pot

DS has told me that only 3DS games can be played on the 3DS.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 11/11/2011 19:17

Hi Moosemama

I sincerely hope that your DS gets on okay tonight and that the sleepover passes without incident.

moosemama · 11/11/2011 19:19

Blush Will try and catch up a bit, but am already hopelessly behind.

Hi Zam, I used to lead horses for RDA when I was a teenager and I agree with Ellen, strops, tantrums, full on meltdowns, over-excitement, tears etc were all regular events and no-one minded a bit. Smile

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRIGGLES! Hope you have a fantastic evening, you deserve to have some serious fun.

Ellen, good to hear you are managing to fit in a social life. Enjoy your night out, you are also highly deserving of some fun.

moosemama · 11/11/2011 19:21

Thanks Attila

Everyone says - 'oh he'll be fine once he's there', but sadly I know that's unlikely. Don't think the whole film night debacle last week has done anything to help him deal with the anxiety.

I am hopeless, I just want to wrap him up in cotton wool and protect him from all this, but I know he needs to do it sometime.

Dh was saying at lunch time that these situations are getting harder and harder as the gap between him and his peers widens and he is becoming more obviously different. Sad

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 11/11/2011 19:24

Why, thank you, moose. I hope your DS has a lovely time despite himself. Bit shocked by lunchtime supervisor. We have a list of allergies/intolerances at school so there should be no mistakes. What's their risk assessment like?

coff33pot · 11/11/2011 19:26

Thanks for that Attila I think I just might stick to DSi again for the moment then as DS wont be impressed with the one game thing. Unless I can rustle up another second hand one maybe. :)

Moose......I hope your DS settles bless him. He is a really brave lad at the moment trying to stick so much out. :)

Hi Zam extreme pity from this end with the teething! One thing that worked for mine when they were small was a thick cold peeled carrot from the fridge to cool the gums :)
