anyone had family who refuse to accept a dx and still think your being neurotic? My parents basically think there's nothing different about ds and the doctors and I am wrong and stressing over nothing. Starting VB soon and I know they are going to have problems with being consistent as they want to indulge him at every opportunity and they are not very open minded and are very prone to sensitivity. Live very very close to them...

babyheave. I've decided it's a lost cause too. If anything it will take them longer to accept. We just have to get on with it. Its reassuring to know it's a common situation, although it hurts like hell as it wasn't another complication that I expected. Oh well, I'm sure well get through it.

Just saying it has made me feel better. Crying in the car on the way home and DH was saying to rise above it, but its not that easy is it when its you're parents.

I can't fault the relationship they have with DS. It's brilliant. They love him to bits; they've taken him on holiday, they love having sleepovers and I do understand that they don't want to accept that there's anything at all wrong with him I really do, but my god its getting hard to take.

ASD or not, he's still the same boy that they love. G'ah!!!!!!

Ask them if they would accept the teachers punishing him for not following an instruction because he didn't understand it?

Ask them if they would accept his peers ignoring him because he can't follow their games?

Ask them if he should miss break time because he was too slow to complete a task?

If you can get them to look at it like that they might see where you are coming from and support your drive for information and support.
