The Happy BOOM! Thread

Once upon a time there was a MNetter called Wilson.

She may have got drunk while MNing. These things happen and we mustn't judge.

While she may have been a teeny-tiny bit drunk she mis-read, or mis-typed, because who knows really and these things are often lost in the mists of time? another MN's idea of having a happy book.

And thus the Happy BOOM! was born.

Many, many MNers (like Ellen but this is a safe space so we'll get her later) took the opportunity to shout BOOM at poor Wilson the next day when her head was all poorly and sore, but she has risen like a phoenix from the ashes of her hangover to start the Happy BOOM! thread.

And now she comes among you to ask for your tales. Funny, sweet, happy stories of you and DC's please. Let's try and keep this one going so we have something nice to read on the tough days. And feel free to shout BOOM!

In my happy boom is a story I've told before, so sorry if you've already heard it.

On DS2's last day at MS primary school this year his class did a leavers' assembly. At the very end all the children were presented with a dictionary as a leavers' gift, polite applause as each child went up to get it.

When DS's name was called a spontaneous cheer went up from his class and some of the parents. I bawled! DS just took it as his due.

Awwww Ellen! BOOOOOOM!

I would like to add in this Happy Boom a school trip to the beach. There is the constant disinterest of DS peers and the mention from the school that his peers are now not trying to communicate with DS as a result. Which hit my heart.

However we walked down to the local beach with 34 kids one school day DS was my partner as he wouldnt go with anyone else. As we got to the beach there was a wall looking over and as the school line walked down and around the wall the path got lower and lower so the rest of the line was up above still walking.

WELL all the children down below started "hi Fred!" "Hi Sally!" and waving frantically at each other...........................ALL 33 kids waved up and shouted "Hi DS!" And he was waving back! My Boom moment!

Excellent BOOMs .

DS has had his hair chopped off. It was a kind of vague bob before, which he hated getting brushed. So for months I've been saying, 'its tuggy 'cos it's long, why don't we get it cut short?' Cue school haircut and DS sits down in the chair puts on the robe looks the purveyor of torture hairdresser in the eye and said 'I'd like short please!'

He then SAT STILL (apart from a bit of rocking out) while she cut it.

BOOM!

(of course Wilson then bawled her eyes out as the locks fell to the floor, and DH is in the huff and he looks all grown up and I hate it, but never mind that.)

I have a little aaaw.

Took dd to my friends house last week. her dd(2yo) and my dd(3yo) stood in the door way and hugged, and held hands to go play together.

The little steps are so important to me.

dd4 is now potty- trained !

She started back at school wearing her "big-girl pants" , not bad for a just turned 6 asd child i think !

i could kiss the person who decided to make peppa pig pants , dd4 doesnt want to wee on peppa pig !!!!

Awww, some lovely happy boom stories. Dry Peppa Pigs, short hair, cuddly friends, waving friends, cheering friends...

really good memories!

I have a couple of BOOMs from today! We saw a private OT for the first time - within 5 minutes of meeting him she had him in a hammock taking weight through his arms! Such an amazing sight to see from the little boy who practically hides his arms behind his back!

She was also full of praise about him and positive about his future development - such a lovely change from the negativity of the NHS!

I've had a very positive day! :)

Boom!

ds woke up early this morn . so stuck him in single bed with me in spare room. (head to tail as he is a wriggler).

Suddenly felt fingers on my big toe. Little voice from under the duvet as follows... (... are for the mumbled bits)

"......... market
...........stay home
..piggy......ro beef
......ha none
.....wee wee wee wee wee.... ALL WAY HOME!

Mummy I sing you song!"

A song, with actual words, sung 'for me'. boom indeed!

Well I had a big Boom this morning! Its my Birthday today and when I came downstairs DS was in kitchen holding choccies with DH & DD.

DS said "you dont have to share them because its your birthday but if you want to I dont mind"

Then he made me cry. Said "I would have made you breakfast in bed, but I cant make you breakfast in bed, I am not big enough to make you breakfast in bed but next time, in about 4 years I will be big enough to make you breakfast in bed so I will make you breakfast in bed, ummmmm with daddys help of course"

DH said what a nice thing to say DS and I just blubbered!

Happy Birthday Coff33pot! That's a lot of breakfast in bed.

A hammock and a song, it's all it takes on this board

Sign - do you have my DS? That is EXACTLY how he sings that song, with the same mumbled bits and everything (and no ' I sing song for you Mummy' at the end, sadly).

My BOOM moment is that DS can now wipe his own bottom! Quite efficiently too I might add, though our use of loo paper has probably doubled...

Sign - his language is coming on in leaps and bounds! I'm very impressed....

I know! the latest phrase is "mummy I missed you" dh taught him to say it to nanny (who lives in London so we see less often). but when I came down stairs one morning this week he said it to me followed by "big cuddle" He has also learned to kiss (with no teeth ) but it just consists of pressing his mouth against mine and leaving it there.... like it was super glued!

Dd2 is having a hearing day, not wearing her ears, and is joining in with little einsteins, Lap tapping, blast off (arms in air) and even said "blaaaass oo" (can't say/hear). BOOM. :o

Thanks for Birthday wishes! had a fantastic time seeing Horrid Henry with DS & DD and their cousin :) Big bunch flowers from eldest DD so well spoiled day.

DS has now learned some cool tricks for school uh o!

Ahhh lovely thread.

My story starts off badly but ends well!

Took DS (3) to softplay this week and met a friend there with her DD. DS loves friends DD and is his only friend. Unfortunately he is so obsessed with her he spent the whole time following her around rugby tackling her so she couldnt leave him and play with anyone else. DS last seen holding on to waist of friends DD whilst she tried to crawl away, with another girl stamping on DS to try to get him off.

It ended badly and friends DD emerged from softplay sobbing as DS had rugby tackled her one too many times and hurt her. I quickly put DS in pram and said we were going home.

Anyway - whilst walking home see friend running towards me with her DD also in pram still sobbing. Apparently her DD was so upset that DS had gone home she had to run to catch up with us!!!

AWWW bless her! See? thats a true friend there!

My daughter called me mummy today for the first time.
Wow! She's 3.2years. She even said it twice.
