Evening everyone, fri night chat virgin here.. hope all ok and wine is flowing..

Sounds like the soft play would be great fun! Not close to me but hope anyone that went had a fab time!

DD in bed and ds and dh playing on the Wii.. Been crap week.. but hey - better than last week!

DD came out of hospital after H1N1 and pneumonia, with lots of impacted poo and an NG tube! Been very stressful but the poo responding to Movicol finally!! Lots to come overnight I suspect!

SALT here today to do swallowing assessment on dd. DLA renewal forms need doing but can't face them yet!

Tomorrow ds birthday party but at a soft play place who throw in party bags so quite easy for me.. be nice to get out! How sad is that!:)

Going to put ds to bed in a bit and then go to bed to watch telly with a cuppa and dark marzipan chocolate.. with the odd spell on here before that I should think!

What a start to the year, it can only get better. Hope you all have a good weekend doing nice stuff if you can..

OverflowingMum · 14/01/2011 21:18

djangel gosh sounds a very rough week ...hope next week is better

dayshift totally brilliant re sock explanations LOL

auntevil yes, I am pleased I have got what I want...now have 2 weeks to decide whether to go ahead with appeal against LEA refusal for SA...or , now I've got what I wanted, maybe wait and re-apply for SA when it all falls apart again...sigh...LOTS of meetings and letters quoting SENCOP to get this far,(dont think LEA realised what they were taking on LOL)but at least DD will get more of what she needs this half term!

Wine now flowing...
Hoping I wont regret it tomrrow as have DD4 bday party...sigh...Wink

bigcar · 14/01/2011 21:19

djangel, that doesn't sound fun, hope she's ok

OverflowingMum · 14/01/2011 21:26

Oh , and djangel...I LOVE marzipan and dark chocolate...yum! ENJOY!

StartingAfresh · 14/01/2011 21:30

Well the odd socks were found Grin

It was lovely to meet lisad and her family.

The place was big and noisy and busy but quite good fun if you like that sort of thing. Couldn't figure out the bar thing, think you just buy a can of beer from the cafe. It didn't really feel right drinking alcohol there though so we didn't.

Oh Startingafresh glad you had a nice time... a can of beer from the cafe sounds odd though...shame no nice chilled wine LOL
I think I need to be braver and take my brood out more...always so scared of dds meltdowns though...plus managing at least 4 others....sigh!

DayShiftDoris · 14/01/2011 21:41

DJAngel What a week - you definately deserve that glass of wine!

Thank you - I have created something rather unique with my DS Grin

Glad the soft play was good - sounds fab

Overflowingmum - sounds like that would be the place to go and that no one would bat an eyelid at a meltdown!

StartingAfresh · 14/01/2011 21:43

Oooooh justa, do come down for half term. We can hang out....Grin

StartingAfresh · 14/01/2011 21:47

oh there were kids having meltdowns all over the shop. I don't know if I'm just used to it or what but the 'meltdowns' all seemed to kind of sort themselves out as no-one felt obliged to jump in and prevent upsetting anyone elses sensitivities, so they were able to get on with it and get through it, almost in a calm way.

purplepidjin · 14/01/2011 21:57

Evenin' all

{{hugs}} to those having shitty weeks

{{YAY}} to all those having good weeks

I had a meltdown a week last Sunday, doc signed me off work for a week, was back in yesterday and today. Still very very tired and drained, but coping with 12 hour shifts - there's a lot to be said for an over-active fight or flight response Wink

At least I've found something useful to do with all my free time - crocheting hats, booties etc for prem and stillborn babies. Will send a parcel off to charity when I've done a few Grin I have a weighted blanket to start on tomorrow, and one which is all packed up but still waiting on the dosh Shock ordered before Christmas ShockShock

moosemama · 14/01/2011 22:04

Evening all.

Just tried to read the thread and failed dismally, as I my head is killing me. Did notice the odd socks theme though - dh started this trend in our family. I bought him quite a few mad/bright matching pairs for Christmas, then mixed them all up and wrapped up lots of odd pairs Confused iyswim.

Dd has some tights made by a company called 'Oddsocks' which are brightly coloured spots on one leg and stripes on the other! Grin

Hi DJAngel, great to see you here, hope you have a good weekend and ds enjoys his party.

Speaking of parties, I am mid-birthday cake decorating at this very moment - having momentarily collapsed onto the sofa. Its dd's second birthday tomorrow and she wanted a Gaston the Ladybird cake (from Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom). I've finished the actual ladybird (used a 3d spherical pan and am quite pleased with it actually) but now have to ice all the grass and make a selection of icing bugs and flowers to dot around. The latter part is because I had to make a separate gluten free cake for ds1, so have baked a 12" gf madeira for the ladybird to sit on top of.

I am waaaay too tired for this. Why do I always end up decorating birthday cakes late at night?

Fortunately, she only wanted Mummy, Daddy, ds1 and ds2 to come to her party, so that got me off the hook. Wink She did however want a picnic - in January! So I've bought some red and white polka dot fabric off ebay to act as a tablecloth and some matching party plates and cups and we're having a picnic in the sitting room. I've bought a sun-shaped helium balloon and some mini flower-shaped ones on sticks that I'm going to stand up along the window ledge to make it seem more summery. Grannies and grandads are just coming to do cake and presents after we've had the picnic - phew!

We've had an up and down week. Mostly down, but with a couple of hopeful moments. We've had the breakdown of ds's WISC, had a series of bullying incidents to deal with at school, found out our lovely EP can come to his Assessment next Monday and also that he has been allocated a 1-1 inclusion teacher to work on his social skills and help build a circle of friends.

I am soooo nervous about Monday, just want it to be over really - but then we have a TAC meeting on Thursday of the same week, so no time to sit back and deal with whatever Monday brings.

Wednesday me feeling weak son off school daughter a pain to get to school and 2 little boys to school, wait for any news of blood results.

Son 6 with ASD soils.

Same kind of day Thursday although daughter somehow manages to wake up with a temp.

Friday managed to get all 4 into school woohoo - only to go in the aft myself as a parent helper..

Daughter has had the "worsest" day at school ever and its all my fault and shes never ever going there again...

4 year old son has got through the week without saying no to a teacher or hitting them - yeah...

Still feeling weak and tired but yeah thats its Friday!!

LollipopViolet · 14/01/2011 22:07

Glad this week is over!

Stress of uni assessments and this possible relocation later in the year have tired me out!

Still, I get a day to chill tomorrow, and then see my hockey friends on Sunday, before ANOTHER mad week culminating in ANOTHER assessment at uni!

And I get to see my best friend on Sunday, haven't seen her since New Years' Eve!

lisad123isasnuttyasaboxoffrogs · 14/01/2011 22:11

yes was lovely to me you too. and love the odd socks Grin
It was a good time although DDs hated that noise from bumper cars and the noise that you get as you walk in the front door. Everyone seemed pretty calm until it was time to go and then all melt downs began.

I managed to find some friends from a support group i used to use so wasnt completely lonely :)

Herecomestheninkynonk · 14/01/2011 22:27

Hello all, hugs and alcohol to all those having a bad week, and well to those having a good one too!

Mixed here. Confirmation from arseholes work that they won't let me go part time (have recently name changed). So now appealing.

Docs all really happy with DS and we may even ditch the saturation monitor in a few months.

And today we both had a flu jab, stupid old cow that I am, got mine done in my right arm (I'm right handed) so typing with my left.

Also thrilled I knew the makaton for frog!

intothewest · 14/01/2011 22:49

Glad the soft play was good- PURPLE,are you better now? When Ds was born he had some little hats in hospital that kind people had knitted. DJ hope things are calming down for you now- I expect your ds is looking forward to the party

devientenigma · 14/01/2011 23:09

Again, big hugs to those who had a crap week and hooray to those that didn't.
My week has been spent prisoner in my house as ds won't go out until dark.
A bit fed up of playhouse disney and beauty and the beasts christmas, however he's just gone to bed.
Hubby is reading him a story............beauty and the beast.
I now have all the houswork, ironing, laundry etc to catch up on due to being full time carer!!
Need to email OT RE objectives and basically why there's been no input lately.
Also going to put in for funding for an all terrain buggy.
Positives this week. A plan of action is in place to get a home tutor and I got my new motability car!!

purplepidjin · 14/01/2011 23:31
