Opening early as I have a few bits to do tonight.

As you all know I had a crappy week.. But ds came home from his sweetyrun ( with ds1) lastnight and he had bought me a twix.. To cheer me up :)

He's such a darling and I love him to bits ( even without the twix lol).

I'll hand over now and pop in when I get the time :)

I was brave. I tried going outside to take photos of other people's fireworks, the logic being if I'm doing something I love (taking pictures) I won't be bothered by the noise.

Camera was being awkward though, and I was getting drizzled on so I came in. Couple of loud ones scared me, and bless my mum, she was all like "If you get scared, come back in" and "do you want me to come out with you?". She did come and stand with me too :)

I love that she's accepted my fear and is helping me try to get over it.

LV< my daughter is terrified of balloons, the standard rubber ones. She's very able, at uni and has to leave the room if one is present. Balloon modelling is a personal nightmare for her.
So good on your mum for being supportive.

LollipopViolet · 05/11/2010 19:06

Oh yes BALLOONS!

Balloons can go and disappear for all I care! Worst one is when a child has one on the bus and I'm nowhere near getting off!

Horrible, and when people squeak them and you're just waiting for the bang!

I'd totally forgotten about them.

Goblinchild · 05/11/2010 19:07

Sorry Smile

LollipopViolet · 05/11/2010 19:10

It's alright :)

I'm trying to muster up the motivation to do some more uni work this evening. But it's proving difficult.

ouryve · 05/11/2010 19:32

"And there is a bowl of ear defenders next to the nibbles"

You'll all need them. I'm at the point of singing lalalalalalalalalala very loudly because I'm sick of fireworks making me jump. Can't stand anything over my own ears, though. Can't even listen to music through headphones or earphones. I'm very sensitive about my earlobes.

LollipopViolet · 05/11/2010 20:24

I've got my headphones plugged into the Mac :)

I've just done the BBC Test the Nation IQ thing online. Did it when I was 15/16 and got 90.

Tonight, I've got an IQ of 72.

Is that quite bad for a nearly 21 year old, who is (as far as she's aware) completely NT?

I feel stupid!

purplepidjin · 05/11/2010 20:29

Linky please, LV, that sounds like fun :)

LollipopViolet · 05/11/2010 20:31

It's not! It's horrible, and I stupidly looked up "What does an IQ of 72 mean?" and did NOT like the answer!

However, if you fancy a go, the link is Test The Nation

TheArsenicCupCake · 05/11/2010 20:49

Oooh I'm back for a bit.. Sorry to all those who hate pops and bangs.. I hate jet planes.. Which was a bummer when I used to live in the land of the airshiw as a child.. I remember burying my head into my mum as they whizzed past and the sound rummbled in my chest like it was about to explode.. Thank the Lordy I no longer live there!

Dd has eventually gone to bed and demanded that the curtains stay open so she can see the fireworks... But she also hates the noise .. The dog however isn't batting an eyelid as usual!

woolytree · 05/11/2010 21:00

Well my DD is in bed, tried the Mr Men earplugs...didnt like them, now cowering under 3 pink blankets...'like a tent'...with the 'blankets'...curtains over the windows, ear muffs on and a 'flashlight'...were American sometimes. :) Well see if she sleeps as next door just started with fireworks...I asked her about school to she now says 'I dont like mrs ***' Grin me neither!

Got a large glass of Merlot and pizza, (freezer one due to funds)...ahhh. No DLA to do anymore so I may get a little tipsy to celebrate!

woolytree · 05/11/2010 21:01

DD hates balloons too...but is obsessed with 'UP'. :)

LollipopViolet · 05/11/2010 21:03

Oh see I like the idea of being able to fly my house around, but the balloons, ooooh if I was around that many balloons...

Well I wouldn't be! I hate in our local Matalan they've got a party bit now and I can hear them filling helium balloons and I'm waiting for the bang, but it never comes so I'm just anxious!

OverflowingMum · 05/11/2010 21:10

hello all...popping briefly again cause I've had enough. Had crp week quite frankly with one thing and another. Then had meeting with special needs person toady for dds (diagnosed with Aspergers) who told me she "wouldnt get a statement" in reponse to me telling her I'd applied. She really pi*ed me off. and then at end of session when I referred to her diagnosis of aspergers she said "oh I forgot about her aspergers diagnosis"???!!!??? and had spent age talking about dyslexia which is news to me!!!
So am totally Confused and Angry and Sad and just fed up

Have also had sh*te week with trying to sort childcare for other 5 kids, and life just seems too much right now.
Plus dd3 had to miss golden time to come to meeting with me and learning support person...and so is in total foul mood...and lets just say it's a good job I have whole bottle of wine to myself Wink

woolytree · 05/11/2010 21:19

Wine is my medicinal cure for everything at the moment! Grin

DD has a love-hate relationship with balloons..if its a helium one she freaks about it flying off...even if tied to her, gets very anxious but wont let go..hates the squeaking or popping but associates them with parties so must have them! ...she hides behind the table for parts of 'UP' but watches it over and over! :)

OFM - Sounds like a tough week, I hope the wine helps. :)

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 05/11/2010 21:23

Lollipop, that test must be wrong, you are extremely articulate. Maybe iq tests are just not your thing.

Am in bed posting on my uncle's new iPad, which I have been setting up for him, have to give it back tomorrow, will miss it!

woolytree · 05/11/2010 21:26

Fanjo, write to santa for one! Grin

I darent do the IQ test! :)

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 05/11/2010 21:29

Have asked Santa..he said 'no way!' Angry

woolytree · 05/11/2010 21:30

You must have been naughty then! Grin

LegoLady95 · 05/11/2010 21:33

Hi, I don't post often but I do lurk. As I am on the wine too I thought I would post. I had a good thing happen today, and a bad thing. Good thing: In Clarks geting DS1 (3.4 severe ASD) measured. I tell the assistant he is autistic and can't speak or follow any instructions (loud enought for the other shoppers to hear because I always feel less judged when people know). Manage to get shoes between chasing after him and DS2 (2.1). Shopper at the till next to me says 'I used to be a special needs teacher, and I think you are doing a brilliant job. By the way, he is beautiful'.
Bad thing: DS1 pulled half the soil out of my new floor plant and spread it all over the lounge carpet. DS2 joined in, I was washing up. A week before we put the house on the market too.
(Swigs wine)

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 05/11/2010 21:34

Or not naughty enough, woolly Grin

woolytree · 05/11/2010 21:41

LegoLady...you dont need wine to post...but its helps! Grin OOOOHHH naughty for the muddy floor! But YEY for getting shoes..my DD refuses to go in shoe shops so I draw around her feet and go by myself!

Grin @ Fanjo!

DeadlyNightShadeofViolet · 05/11/2010 21:46

Evening all

Sorry DD is not well Lougle :(

Well DS2 enjoyed the fireworks (he isnt fussed by noise), and he really loved the bonfire, but when the fireworks stopped he got really upset and frustrated and he bit his wrist and made it bleed :( :(

But we have had a good week overall, weighted vest is doing well and have sold enough stuff on Ebay tonight to buy a weighted blanket :)

LegoLady95 · 05/11/2010 21:59

Woolytree, drawing round the feet, that is inspired. I will remember that because I am sure I will need it one day!

WetAugust · 05/11/2010 22:01

This is where you're all hiding Grin
