It's Friday night folks..

Had a totally mad week really.. The whole household has been in some state of the flu thing... We dsed a random chappy today. ( it's a bit like being tiggered!) who couldn't believe the stress we lived under constantly.
I have worked really odd hours..
Haven't decided what our pumpkin will be yet.. But I have just about sorted out the theme for Xmas and the cards.
But if we are all feeling up to it I'm taking the dc's out in their wooly warm wrap ups, with wellies and going beech combing and fossil hunting.
( love cold windy beeches.. As they are empty for ds! And there is nothing better than a hot soup and chunky home bread picnic!)

so what about you lot?

Gah .. Hope the back gets better soon!

And yes the dc's choose the Christmas theme.. This year they want a fully edible ( decorations) tree... And gingerbread house and train.

So I'll do something along those lines for the cards..( it'll be photo shoot this year involving a lot of fun and food)

TACC.. thats funny, comparing an afternoon with your ds to being tiggered.[hgrin][hgrin].
Despite feeling ill, down and knackered I wish I was going away tomorrow. Still have a pead appointment for Dd3 on monday and had a lovely letter from the salt yesterday which also went to school. So here's to half term.
Oh and I have a job interview on Friday[hgrin].

TheArsenicCupCake · 22/10/2010 18:43

I don't even want to know what a 'dead germ' looks like.. Let alone a dead one!

Oh and good luck with London... Well do our trip in a few weeks...time :)

Hi all. [henvy] at those of you with a beach nearby.Good luck Ineed for the interview.
Not a bad week here but glad it's half-term and a week off. Mind you , I usually look forward to going back to work for a rest after every hol Grin.

HelensMelons · 22/10/2010 18:50

Haven't planned very much, have hit brick wall of tiredness!

Ds1 asked me when we are putting our halloween decorations up?! (we don't have any, I am a horrible mum!) I will get a pumpkin or two, however, and let all three dc's carve out some random faces and maybe make pumpkin soup!

Apart from that my goal is to go to one of the local forest parks, it's quite near ds2's school and he goes there for Nature Club so I thought it would be good for him to show us about and maybe see some squirrels!

Don't have anything organised for Christmas yet, although, got a lovely catalogue through the post today, fell in love with loads but it's too expensive!!!

TheArsenicCupCake · 22/10/2010 18:51

:) fighting.. I'm like that !

Thanx, We are also hoping to take Dd3 out a couple of days as Dd2 is going away with Dd1. At least 2 teen free days, aaahhh bliss[hgrin].

PolarEyes · 22/10/2010 19:24

evening all Smile

DS1 has been on top form this week both at home and at school so that is fab. he has made a friend at school and DS1's TA gave me a photo of them together that they'd taken during the week DS1 is beaming away much like this Grin. DS2 has been unwell and a demon child bit grumpy.

Got my mum coming to stay from tomorrow until thurs, debating whether to tell her DS1's dx or not. It is a v. long story why she hasn't been told so far so I shan't break the internet by trying to explain it!

ouryve · 22/10/2010 19:26

We've had a poorly week, too. I've had the kids home with stuff coming out of one end or the other every day this week - DS2 is currently on the floor by my feet, sleeping off some 24hr (fingers crossed) pukey thing.

My poor washer dryer is threatening to get its union onto me.

We have a pumpkin from the garden ripening on our kitchen windowsill. I finally cleared all the unripe tomatoes off there and conceded that I did need to make chutney this year, after all. I was in the middle of that when DS2 was brought home from school, yesterday. I had mess everywhere and had to tidy it all up. HINT: never ever try to towel dry a food processor blade with handcream on your hands. OUCH!

Anyhow, I unwittingly knitted a hat for our pumpkin! (click on the top picture to get it all)

redhappy · 22/10/2010 19:33

Haha northernsky can we have an update please! Grin

I was sposed to go out tonight, dp has a gig and dss was going to babysit, but theyre staying at their mums tonight now. I so rarely go out, I had got ready and everything :(

Am going to let myself off all housework tonight instead, face it all tomorrow!

TheArsenicCupCake · 22/10/2010 19:36

Polar that is fab news on the friend!
Ouryve.. That is a very mad pumpkin hat!

TACC - when my washer isn't quite so overstretched (and I've given it a clean out!) I'm going to try to felt (shrink) it a bit. I do have a huge head, but not that huge!

TheArsenicCupCake · 22/10/2010 19:51

Ahhhhhh ... Felting.. Now that makes sense! :o

OP posts:
ouryve · 22/10/2010 20:07

It wasn't designed to be felted, but there's bamboo in the yarn and it just grew and grew with handling. It tightened up a bit with a wash and block, but even then, I could feel it hanging and loosening. The slightest gust of wind (and I live near the sea, too, so we get a lot of that stuff) and it'd be off my head and everyone would be able to see the state of my hair first thing in the morning![hblush]

DS1's gone to bed now, so I'm going to put my laptop away and get on with the sweater he's asked for but doesn't know he's getting. It's his birthday in 5 weeks and I've lost a lot of secret knitting time with having the kids home, this week.

Well my kids are asleep, Poor DD1 is poorly with cough that sounds like croup. DD2 is lovely as always. Had takeaway and now cant find anything on TV!!
Have nothing planned for weekend, but loads planned for half term!

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 22/10/2010 20:19

have i killed the thread already Blush

OverflowingMum · 22/10/2010 20:19

hello, can I join you all...(feeling a bit shy!)
have posted a little bit on this forum, but for those that don't know, my 6 yr old dd3 has Aspergers. I have sort of been in denial about this for a while...but am acceptinhg it more now, and dealing with it, including seeking support where I need it.
I have had a truly horrible week! All 6 DC, and me and DH have had a stomach bug. This in itself has been horrible, but then the aftermath of an overtired, out of routine dd3 has been very hard to deal with! Add to that parent review day today (where we have to go to appointments with the teacher WITH our DC) and dd has just gone into total meltdown. Have finally (fingers crossed) got her settled, and have opened the wine.
On the positive we are going to a local support club tomorrow, for only the second time, but she oved it last time, and I have today posted her request for a Satutory Assessment for her Statement...finally...
so ...deep breath and calming thoughts...and here's to a good weekend for all[hgrin]

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 22/10/2010 20:23

welcome overflowingmum and of course you can join us :)
Sounds like a hard week, and glad you have wine at the ready :)
What sort of support group is it? just parents or does she go? sounds fun.
I have alot planned with the AS girls group, so looking forward to it.

sumum · 22/10/2010 20:25

wow fab hat!

my week has been pretty quiet as ds has been away on a little holiday with my grown up dd2.

They have had a fab time and will be back tommorrow.

Can't quite believe just how quiet it has been given I still have 3 kids here including very small baby, mind you she has been keeping me up at night so I am still very tired.
