It's Friday night folks..

Had a totally mad week really.. The whole household has been in some state of the flu thing... We dsed a random chappy today. ( it's a bit like being tiggered!) who couldn't believe the stress we lived under constantly.
I have worked really odd hours..
Haven't decided what our pumpkin will be yet.. But I have just about sorted out the theme for Xmas and the cards.
But if we are all feeling up to it I'm taking the dc's out in their wooly warm wrap ups, with wellies and going beech combing and fossil hunting.
( love cold windy beeches.. As they are empty for ds! And there is nothing better than a hot soup and chunky home bread picnic!)

so what about you lot?

Hi. I'm fairly new here as well, but hoping to join in. I am right now just relieved that :

  • DS2's harvest festival assembly is now done (it was this morning). Assembly makes him stressed and they've been practicing all week. He managed it without a meltdown or shut down, so I was relieved! (and I'm sure he was as well)
  • No school next week, so no worrying about school runs and transportation issues or morning meltdowns. Just a nice week where he is not unbelievably overstimulated all day (like he is at school), so he actually is functional in the evenings and can sleep better. (it does mean the first week back to school will probably be miserable, but we'll face that when we come to it).

We all had that stomach flu bug just over a week ago - it was dreadful! Hope those who have it are over it quickly!

Hi everyone, jut got back from our weekly Fri night IKEA trip.

Kids asleep, me drinking tea. Yay!

Hello everyone, and greetings from Germany Grin

Yes, we are on holiday, and I am currently one very proud mum.

We had to get up at stupid o clock this morning g for our flight (4 am Shock) but both girls have cope amazingly.

Dd1 was fabulous on the flight - sat with dh, in the row behind me & dd2, and was relaxed and happy throughout. She waited beautifully after, for passport control, and baggage reclaim, car hire, etc, and has settled well into our holiday house.

They went to bed tonight without a hint.of fuss, although dd1 did take a while to fall asleep (still very laid back though, just relaxed on her bed chatting through the day)

Tomorrow will be a challenge, though, as we are off to see dd2's godfather, who has planned a day out for us all - hopefully the girls will continue their fantastic behaviour!

TheArsenicCupCake · 22/10/2010 23:30

Sorry to have zipped off ( had a phone call!)
silverfrog.. Great everything is going okay.. And have a lovely holiday!

lisa .. Nice pics as well.. It is probably worth a few lessons in photography on the tech side of things, lighting, metering and composition etc... But the flare of talent will do the rest :)

and stop talking about ikea... :) I must go and do an ikea run again sooooon , but need to fit it in with everything else !

Lovey to see some new faces in here too :)

Argh, once again missed the Friday night thread! (fell asleep and dribbled on sofa at 8.30pm) not a good look Blush

for what it's worth, crappy week, ambushed by school we had hoped ds would go to, (he would go in 2011) horrible horrible meeting with HT,

would have posted a thread, but a) too upset and b) was scared I might have got told off for being so trusting by all you 'old hands' at this sort of thing...

But all is not lost, had Parent Partnetship woman and also our SLT and portage teacher, all of whom brill...

and HT did shoot herself in foot, spent all meeting telling him how professional they are how I must trust them, and I needed to go away and ask about to find out how good they were... and then asked question which displayed her ignorance of about 20 years of research and studies,Shock SLT shot her down in flames. Grin

School basically wanted statement changed so it fitted with what they could provide, felt he needed (after having him for half a dozen preschool sessions)

SLT bless her is refusing to cut out the bits that they want her to, (too bloody right, she actually gets him very well)

So all the plans for that that school, (with a unit) seem to have gone out the window and we start again...

Sorry guys that got a bit long... anyway hope you all had nice eves and will have good half terms, (and watch out for the 'dead germs' I loved that!)

5andahead · 23/10/2010 09:47

How fab SF! Hope you have a lovely holiday!

Goblinchild · 23/10/2010 09:55

DS has a GCSE Art project involving photography, so he'll be out and about too.
It's one of the few things that he and his dad can find common ground on, so I'll be waving them off to Brighton tomorrow, one digital, one B&W camera. OH has promised to show DS how to develop his own photos with B&W film.
There will also be Much Maths Occurring. I'm getting my pointy stick and restraints ready now Grin

TheArsenicCupCake · 23/10/2010 10:22

goblin.. Your ds will LOVE developing his own film.. 'tis tres cool :) .. I'm just tying to get ds2 into photography as ds1 only has a year and a half left of being my runner on shoots.. And he wants to progress to second photographer :).. So ds2 is just staring to learn the ropes! It's all maths and physics basically ( with a bit of arty farty thrown in).. So he should do well.

Signandsay .. Sound like a crap meeting.. Barring those who helped you out.. I guess I'm an old hand at it.. But even so all that means is I have a thick skin, I tell it how it is and I follow everything up on writing..

Barring that if you come across unhelpful educators .. They generally stay bloody unhelpful. IME
too stuck in their own ways!

DS is atypical Aspie. He is very arty-farty with some maths and a reluctant physicist.
Loves colours, textures and odd ways of seeing things, so his artwork is always interesting.
OH has a darkroom in the garage with various weird gadgets like enlargers and many bottles of chemicals.
I may not see them for a couple of days.Smile

childrenofthecornsilk · 23/10/2010 10:39

arsenic can I message you to ask you a question?

TheArsenicCupCake · 23/10/2010 10:51

Goblin.. I can just smell that darkroom smell :) ( I personally love it!)

I'd love to see his work when he's done .. I have this insane ability to do the whole colour and texture thing as well.. It's so hard to explain to anyone how I do it.. But your ds would just understand.. As ds2 does ( ds1 I've had to teach :))
I'm not on the spectrum at all.. But I am very sensitive to visual and sound ( I know where ds2 gets that bit from lol).. But that really helps in what I do in my career!

Of course you can corny .. If you want I'll pm you my number :)

' I have this insane ability to do the whole colour and texture thing as well.. It's so hard to explain to anyone how I do it..'

I love attempting to see the world through his eyes, it's endlessly fascinating.

TheArsenicCupCake · 23/10/2010 12:10

Goblin it brill isn't it :)

( I think I may have just blasted corny's brains with random information over the phone... Oooops!)

I always miss the Friday night too tired for threads. For some reason it always seems to be my night on for getting them all to sleep.
DH is away for a month - back for halloween though - so at the moment every night is my night for getting them all to sleep.
I've dreamt about 1 of my 3DS having some element of creative flare. All my side of the family do something - ceramics, photography, sculpture etc. Mine is textiles - so i love colours, textures - how they make you feel and can change your mood. I think it might be DS2, but I'm not sure - they're still young. I caught him taking photos of himself on the computer this morning and changing the frames and colours. He is 5. Close up of his nose - framed by roses was quite interesting! [hgrin]
