Its a new block bulit in the classroom, she uses it when I tell her too and the TA said she asked and went twice, no hand dryers, it maybe because theres no numbers on the doors or because they only drink at certain times and she is not being directed enough. Hmm...she drank today but they did PE and inclusion teacher stayed with DD all day. :)

What is chocolate beetroot cake????????

I love beetroot but....Hmm

Lougle · 01/10/2010 21:06

Arsenic - I am looking for you.

You know that all Windows Vista and Windows 7, probably xp too, have an 'ease of access centre'?

You can set it to narrate the text on screen. It also has a built in voice recognition system which is very good. It learns from you, and you can use it to open programmes, select tabs, type, send emails, whatever.

Also, you can use an on-screen keyboard.

Anyho, just marking my place really.

TheArsenicCupCake · 01/10/2010 21:14

Ahhh lougle .. glad you were looking for me..

We already are using the vista screen reader and voice recog..
I'm more looking for a word or part word ( sound groups) touch screen key pad.. That will read it back or could just be used as a stand alone voice recog.

( there is a reason lol I'm not just totally nuts)

This chocolate beetroot cake! The beetroot makes it really moist, without being stodgy and the sourness of it makes the chocolate taste extra chocolatey. It really is delicious!

Beetroot cake is yummy. My mam used to make it years ago before she became lazy.

We have baked the past few weekends. Going to make viennese fingers this Sunday if I can find a piping bag.

Lougle · 01/10/2010 21:31

hot-virtual-keyboard.com/ What about this??

badkitty · 01/10/2010 21:32

Evening all,

No cake for me tonight, decided to start weightwatchers again (although I don't think liquid calories count at the w/e so still having a bit of wine...)

Anyone any exciting plans for the weekend? DH is on a stag do so me and DS are left to our own devices, not sure what to do as weather forecast is crap and DS doesn't like to be cooped up inside at the moment, keeps heading off to the front door!

woolytree · 01/10/2010 21:39

MMMMMMMMMM Ill try the recipe. :)

Not up to much DH is working (as usual) so me and the DCS will probably bake or glue or paint or something! I might get the parents round as Im discovering the joys of my new slow cooker!....I know Im soo sad! Grin

TheArsenicCupCake · 01/10/2010 21:42

Lougle that's sort of it :) thankyou :)

hi BK.. we have nooooo plans .. This is mainly because my wages have pretty much been spent already.. And dhs are stuck in the bank ( it's a long story that only dh could have caused!).. We are hoping they may be unstuck tomorrow morning.. or it might be a very boring weekend till he gets to the bank on Monday morning!

WordAloud is interesting - used for SEN and can be typed into.

ouryve · 01/10/2010 21:50

We have an uneventful weekend ahead. Just a bit of weekly shopping to get done and we'll probably not manage much else.

I need to get out into the garden, myself and perform mass caterpillarcide, at some point, since I'm tired of snipping the evil green buggers with the kitchen scissors. This is despite having the broccoli and sprouts covered with nets all summer.

I've banned DH from buying any brassica seeds for next year.

Lougle · 01/10/2010 22:01

I have been an awful Mummy this afternoon. A migraine came on thick and fast so Mum came and looked after the girls, so I was meant to get some sleep. But DD1 just screamed up the stairs the whole time that she wanted Mummy.

I got no sleep, and felt terrible. Later DD1 was saying 'I not good dD1 day Sad".

If elt terrible, she is a good girl, just has no self control and no awareness of other people.

At least it is just a dull ache now. Maxalt is good stuff.

PolarEyes · 01/10/2010 22:02

Evening all. We finally took DS1 & DS2's dummies away this evening. They are 3 & 5 4. I am expecting many night wakings tonight, so will be knocking back coffee.

Lougle you are a bit of a star.. I looked and couldn't find much... Tbh..

Ds2 has started working on a programme for SEN/SN children.. he couldn't find anything out there and I looked and couldn't find anything.
What you have found will give him a starting point to get going.
( new emerging obsession..)
he was worried about doing something that has already been done.

Good luck Polar...my DD just gave me hers one day! Hmm I never gave it back. DS has a tongue tie so never had one...kept falling out!...he makes up for it with night time waking! :)

Lougle, glad your head is feeling better.:)

What are brassica seeds? Confused

TheArsenicCupCake · 01/10/2010 22:10

Lougle maxalt used to work for me.. Nooo longer:(

Lougle, that not being allowed to be ill thing really sucks. I hope you get some decent sleep tonight.

PolarEyes, good luck with that!

Wooly - brassicas = cabbage, sprouts and other leafy green veg. AKA butterfly food. They're supposed to be healthy, but they're so much work to tend to that my back and hips don't agree. There's nothing healthy about barely being able to stand up straight or walk.

TheArsenicCupCake · 01/10/2010 22:13

Lougle.. Don't feel like a bad mum.. There is nothing you can do about migraines.. Ds2 now panics if I have one.. After I got ambulanced once :( so I end up snappily trying to get on with things and hide it.. When actually I'd quite like to quietly die!

5inthebed · 01/10/2010 22:23

BadKitty, liquid calories definitely don't count Grin

Lougle, you're not a bad mam, gosh you'd be crazy thinking you were!

Well egg custard tart went down a treaat , yum!

LollipopViolet · 01/10/2010 22:25

Hi all!

Not a bad week for me (see this thread)

So that's the really good bit. Also, the documentary is coming along well and I've got some great ideas for creative camera shots etc. Which is also really good.

Unfortunately, the Access Centre at uni have turned down my request to update my editing software (which THEY gave me) and have said they'll discuss with my faculty whether my disability warrants them spending more on me. Which begs the question, if it's necessary to meet to decide whether I'm entitled to an upgrade, why give me the software in the first place.

It's £250 to upgrade myself, which a) I can't afford and neither can the family, really and b) why should I when they gave me the original software?

If they say no it just means I lose the ability to edit at home, so nothing major they gave this lad who applied for DSA in second year the upgraded version so you know...custom and practice is it?

Grrr, but the good stuff outweighs that, that's just mildly irritating.

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 01/10/2010 22:27

evening all , can I join you?
