It's going to all gradually get done over the winter. In manageable doses, hopefully. Oh, and we need to replace the kitchen roof, since that's the source of some of the damp! At least we got one big job over with, in the Spring, when our hot water tank burst, forcing us to replace the heating!!!

I was talking to our next door neighbour a while back and she said that every single problem they've had with their house has been water related, too! It's one of the perils of living on the North East coast. Everything is permanently damp.

Oh - and we replaced our car at Easter, too - 51 reg Avensis had done 1.24k miles and was starting to fall to bits and get expensive to repair and break down in the middle of long journeys. Hopefully we'll have no more car trouble for a while!

weird question, do you sometimes struggle to function in RL with "normal" people??
I find myself spending time with my SN mums than others and chatting on here about DH, as somedays its too hard in RL Blush thats very sad isnt it :(

TotalChaos · 01/10/2010 23:46

evening all.

Lou - can you not even take the mini-pill then - just wondering if there was not a way of avoiding period related migraines.....

lisa - sorry you have had a shitty week. yep, I tend to feel more comfortable with SN mums as well.

TotalChaos · 01/10/2010 23:47

in terms of the rl stuff - sometimes the "worries" people have can seem so minor that you just silently scream WTF>

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 01/10/2010 23:51

i was begining to think i was going a bit mad and maybe needed to go see GP. People ask how i am, how kids are and how DH is, but most of the time i know its just what they do, rather than intreste din the answer and also so few of my RL non SN get my DDs and see what i and pead see, its a PITA.

We should start a lottery group.....bout time we all got some good news! :)

I find it tough to talk to rl mums but I spoke to two mums who live on my street about DDs ASD this week and both were lovely.:)

Apart from my sister, I only know one other SN mum in real life. I don't see a lot of her and tend to talk to her sister a lot more, as she lives across the road from me. She's actually Lovaas trained and works with with families affected by ASD, so definitely knows the ropes. I am lucky that other people I talk to are remarkably understanding, anyhow. Even if people here have no real clue about the nitty gritty of my DS's actual special needs, they see them as people first, which is wonderful. I've had people push DS2's buggy for me while I struggle with DS1 in a melt down on his way home from school. Because of the whole village where word gets around thing, I've had a neighbour I've never spoken to before tell us all about the village fair and make sure bags of fruit were saved for the boys - and even brought them to our house when we ended up not getting there!

It sure makes up for the nasty damp air!

Bit late for this thread, but wanted to share a good day with you.

DS (ASD) invited 5 boys to his birthday party - and they almost all said they could come! ( Very cross with the boy who 'couldn't make it' because I'm positive it's an excuse and I know his mum well, and really how hard is it to send your kid to a party. ASD isn't contagious you know...)

After Claw's suggestion I spoke to the SENCO about getting the VI team involved (for visual perception problems) - and she thought it was a good idea.

And I got good things put into DDs IEP. Based on the precision teaching advice that Moondog and others have been raving about I asked that one of her targets be to be able to read 30 cvc words in 1 minute (currently she can do 15). Teacher was a bit put out. But SENCO thought it was a good idea. So they're going to test her now and in 6 weeks. Then me thinks I'll finally be able to start discussing with them whether or not she is actually making 'good' progress :)

Actually I'm really pleased about having this in her IEP. Because I'm positive she'll fail it and then hopefully good stuff will start to happen. (They're equally positive she'll pass - which is why the SENCO was happy to write it in.) ((of course I'd be even more pleased if she did pass the target - but you guys all know what I mean))
