How many years are claimants being given once decision has been made. Im really looking for claimants in a similar situation to us. NC over 5 years old. Just wondering how long we'll have to relax once we get our decision. My son is 6yrs old, suspected adhd, pda and autism, scan date 28/9. Long wait!

Midlifemumma2026 · 27/10/2026 10:19

Morning all! Seem to get a different response each time I call. Told Friday was in queue for a DM , chased this am told system had update now can’t see progress only when decision made! I am scan date 21/8 - I’ve seen earlier in Aug claims receiving an outcome, think I’ll give up calling as a waste of time! Perhaps I’m a long way off, said they had massive backlog.

They often award for a 2 year period initially where assessments are still ongoing.

I wouldn't worry or expect any news yet. It's taking 10.5-11 weeks from scan date for most people and there's not much they can tell you other than it's in the queue. I would call again on November 4th and it should hopefully have been looked at by then or be with a decision maker.

Scan date 24/7 was told with a case manager yesterday. Still not heard anything - no pending payment ect. Fearing the worst now after a long wait!

Thanks so much!

Does anyone know what I should expect first of its positive news. I see a lot of people reporting a pending payment. Is this always the case? Or do some people see the payment immediately without it being scheduled for a future date?

PurplePenguin22 · 27/10/2026 18:47

Hey guys, scan date 17/9. Have been reading through this thread and feeling hopeful but goodness me, the fear of rejection is real 🙈

It depends on your bank. I can't see pending payments in my bank account but if you can I believe you can see it from the day before. The first I'll know is when the payment actually goes through. My son's SD is August 14th so I'm hoping to see a payment by the end of this week.

With my daughter's (NC earlier this year) the timeline was:

Claim received 06/07/26
Claim scanned 08/07/26
Claim awarded 01/09/26
Back payment 04/09/26
Award letter received 09/09/26

Pending or payment into bank would be the first unless they text or call (they sometimes do if big back pay)

Oh ur date is getting closer hope it’s just a short wait now

Hopefullyitcan · 28/10/2026 08:52

Thanks for your responses. I hope to see the pending payment soon. It's been a long 14 weeks and I don't think I'm prepared for a decline. I suppose what will be will be. They said it was with a case manager on Monday and I've heard nothing so I'm anticipating the letter anytime now.

MrsB97 · 29/10/2026 08:36

MR - 01/07. I called yesterday and was told it was with the case manager so hopefully hear something soon. It’s been so hard to try and estimate how long MR’s are currently taking.

OneMintPombear · 29/10/2026 09:56

NC 11/08 had a payment in my bank account this morning so he’s been awarded 😊. Now just to wait for the letter to see what rate and how long the award is for.

That's great news! Can I ask, reading on your previous comment, you said they called asking for more information. What sorts of things you provided? I'm so worried I haven't enough to back my sons claim up 😕

He’s on the pathway to be assessed for ADHD but I didn’t send a letter as I don’t actually have one as it’s all done on an app called “my care bridge” so she asked me to print off screenshots of his details from the app which I did. She also asked some questions about his night time care whilst on the phone.
My elder son has been receiving MRC & LRM for 5 years but has had diagnosis for things since he was very young so I wasn’t certain about my youngest as he doesn’t actually have diagnosis yet. We did have a strong letter from his teacher at school which I think must of really helped.

I called again today. First person super grumpy and after giving names and DOB she made a few grunts and I suddenly went on hold - the next person picked up the phone and told me I was speaking to the winter fuel allowance team!

Anyway, after being sent back again to a new person, I was told they were "awaiting a reference number to be assigned before the decision can be finalised", but it sounds like a decision had been made. Anyone encountered this before / know what this might mean? I'm curious if they would create a reference number if the decision was no...

Just called again (option 2 not 4) and she said there was no new information.

With a SD of 01/07, I don't understand why this is so much longer than everyone elses!

Ooh I see, my son is on the pathway to be assessed for autism. He's only 20 months old but is showing severe autistic traits. I have sent printed emails from the health visitor stating an EHA is now in place and obviously written in detail how my son's behaviour is on a daily basis and how it effects him and everyone else. I'm just hoping it's enough 🙏 congrats again on your sons case being accepted 😊

Does anyone feel like the threads and groups have been quiet the past couple of days?😬
