Brilliant- that was easy (usually its getting the LEA to agree that's hard). Congratulations- it will start t get easier now.....

oh good, at least that's all sorted now. have no words of wisdom re: the transition. presumably he will visit before he starts there?

Just remembered (!) that my mum's friends daughter went to a residential school for several years (think she had a degree of CP, but mostly quite severe learning difficulties), she was very happy there, good facilities, treated very well etc.

Really glad you got the school you wanted! Hope it all goes well and your ds likes it there. It will be nice to have him somewhere where they really understand ASDs.
