bearing in mind I don't have any current school experience, I would go for gess opinion over mine, so maybe just e-mail her.

mummytosteven · 14/06/2007 23:49

I'd be asking lots of questions about Ratcliffe a) because its residential and you don't want that, and b) it;s EBD. Chelfham mixes EBD and ASD successfuly (and ASD across the spectrum AFAIK) - BUT they have an awful lot of ASD experience- I would want to be sure that experience was there before signing up to an EBD school.

Have you been to see any of the schools? We looked at 2 for ds1 and knew that one was wrong for him and one right as soon as we had our visit.

oh I had another post that has disappeared. Said it was hard to tell from millwater's website. Who does it cater for? I liked the stories! Oaklands Park has a good reputation, but I thought it catered for children more like my ds1??? Or does it have a unit for children with HFA? If so would think it would be good. It has a day unit as well doesn;t it?

remember you can say no - and if you're not sure say 'no' before he goes in & whilst you make sure you are happy- it is far far far harder to remove a child from a special school than a mainstream one - you can basically just take a child out of mainstream school, you can't just take them out of special school. The laws are different.
