Yeah I think this is most likely @fishfingerbutty I don’t know if this will helpful to anyone but am happy to share my story here. I use WLI now but still ‘identify’ as a Slimming Worlder! I don’t regret my time and the money spent on Sw over the years as I learnt so much and there are so many great recipes that will stay as family favourites forever and lovely people I’ve met in group along the way.
So I’m on WLI now after a long history as a Slimming World member and rebounder. Classic yo-yo. Cannot even count how many times I joined and rejoined SW, must be at least 15 times in 15 years. First time was the best, got to target in under a year and maintained for over 6 months then fell out of target and it crept back on. Regained most of the weight. Re-joined a year later and lost a decent amount of weight but not to target. Regained what I lost plus some. Had 2 DC and weight increased to its highest and hardest levels of obesity especially after 2nd baby. Re-joined SW each time following pregnancy/post pregnancy gains and times in between, each with diminishing returns in terms of amount of weight lost and ability to sustain the losses.
The last 2 times I rejoined SW I struggled to lose anything at all. Mostly maintained or had tiny losses that were quickly swallowed up with bobbing up and down. Fought to lose a stone. Like many of us life circumstances stepped in and we had family difficulties related to health and bereavement and I was hit with severe illness combined with peri. I couldn’t manage getting to group anymore - my friendly, supportive group with a lovely consultant (I drove 30 mins every week to get to this particularly good group). Quickly gained the stone lost and more. Very discouraged and could not lose any weight even back on vlcd shake plans I had done previously. Got depressed and finally a friend shared they had done the jabs and had great success losing when other methods hadn’t been successful. Her positive experience gave me the courage to try Mounjaro when I was skeptical / unsure about it. I have now been on it for over a year and lost over 3 stone. A modest loss for some on WLI, but for me it is miraculous as someone who battled and battled to lose even a pound before.
It has helped rebalance my system where health and hormonal changes had become a barrier to losing, even when following the plan and other diets as strictly as I could.
It is not without it’s downsides, I get occasional gastric side effects and the medication is expensive, but I feel it’s worth it to be where I am now. I have more to lose but it feels different this time, that it’s possible, within my reach and control. I’m no longer anxious about falling off plan/ off the wagon and regaining hard fought losses.
Anyone remember when mullerlight yogs were syn free and the Rocky Road Hi-fi bars? Loved them!
Wishing you all the very best with your onward journeys and here’s to a slimmer, healthier 2026 x
