Great work everyone! I’m dreading weigh in tomorrow but I also know I need the kick up the bum to get back on it, I’ve had better days yesterday and today but my heart isn’t really in it and I feel quite deprived that I can’t have chocolate (when I’m properly on it, I don’t feel deprived because I don’t even want it)

not sure if it was on here but I have been listening to a podcast by Jessica Cooke- it’s very very straight talking diet advice, she’s quite firm but everything she says is true. She’s worth a listen if you fancy some straight talking motivational listening. Much better than that wishy washy sw pod.

Kidsaregrim · 03/04/2024 20:21

So had my third weigh in
Starting weight 16st 3lb
1st - 5 1/2 pounds
2nd - 3 pounds 1/2 pounds
3rd - 2 pounds
11lb down
Target 12 1/2 stone

i I have had to put in some serious planning and money into this to keep it going but feel like I am getting somewhere! To be fair most of the money is probably savings from wine and convenience food!

loving the updates from you all!

Testarossa44 · 04/04/2024 07:49

@Kidsaregrim that's fabulous! Well done. I made a crustless quiche yesterday, I'll be having it for lunches this week. Really quite tasty!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/04/2024 18:38

I’m supposed to be weighing in tonight but I just did a little ‘check in’ on my home scales and i was up 6lbs!!! In a week!! A combination if being due on, eating too much, and starting a new workout (can definitely feel muscle soreness today which is water retention) - but I’m tempted to skive off group because I know that’s not ‘true’ weight gain and I don’t want a 6lb hit on my already meagre weight loss. I’m really annoyed, I know bodies are weird but seriously- yes, I have had a few extras but I don’t deserve 6lbs on !! 😡

I hate it when this happens! It can really knock your dedication! I’d rather not weigh in and lose the momentum than weigh and emotionally eat through disappointment. Sounds like you are doing a great job with the workout!

Ah I love quiche - have you got a recipe? Mine always come out like omelette!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/04/2024 20:03

@Kidsaregrim well I’m half there- I did the comfort eating in frustration but not the weigh in 🤦‍♀️ and dh just came home from Morrisons with 2 twirl Easter eggs and 5 creme eggs and red wine.

damn hormones. Anyway, today’s ruined. Tomorrow is a fresh new shiny day.

OverTheRainbow2023 · 04/04/2024 21:33

Hi all. I've been super busy over the past few weeks so haven't had a chance to check in. Hope everyone is doing ok. Lost 4lbs this week bringing my total loss to 2st 1.5lbs. The big loss this week is just what I needed to keep my head in the game after a couple of disappointing small loss/maintain weeks.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/04/2024 06:37

@OverTheRainbow2023 wow, 4lbs is a great loss, well done 👏

TomWambsgansSwans · 05/04/2024 22:02

Well done on your weeks all.

Did you end up gritting your teeth and weighing in @thenewaveragebear1983?

I was so gutted with my weight gain last week. It has, if I'm honest, spurred me on alongside my high cholesterol blood test this week, made me dig deep and keep trying to get to target.

I'm going to go to weigh in but not stay to group tomorrow as I've got some family coming to stay. I've kept my Easter egg for post weigh in which is a flipping miracle for me. I haven't eaten any of my DD's at all and I'm quite proud of myself for that as in previous years I'd be sneaking a bit!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/04/2024 22:50

@TomWambsgansSwans nope, 👎 but I am going tomorrow morning. I reckon I’ll be up 4lbs- I’m just retaining so much water! I can’t even get my rings on! I’ve had a reasonable day today and have drunk lots of water but I still reckon it’s a hefty gain, and I am only going because I know I need it to draw a line. you’ll all have to talk me down off the ledge tomorrow after weigh in, especially as this is now the second time since September I’ve been 2lbs away from my stone award and then have had a bumper gain! It took me 10 weeks to lose my Christmas gain!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/04/2024 09:01

So I weighed in at home. I couldn’t face the 4.5lbs gain in public. At least it wasn’t 6!

determined to get my act together now and get back on plan, it’s…. 7? Weeks til whitsun when I go away so I’d really like to lose a pound a week on top of my Easter gains in that time. I feel like I’ve completely spiralled out of control (which isn’t technically true, I’ve kept up my workouts and most of my food is still ok, it’s just been a bad week) - I think I’ll feel a lot better once I come on and my hormones settle down tbh.

Just about to take my doggo out for a nice long walk in the wind!

TomWambsgansSwans · 06/04/2024 10:09

Well done for getting back on it @thenewaveragebear1983! Seven weeks until whitsun is a good interim goal. I'm aiming for a pound a week until I get to target from now on.

I had a good loss this week of -4lbs but I think that was mostly because I had put on +4.5lbs in the previous two weeks!

I feel much better than I was doing and a bit more motivated.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/04/2024 19:28

@TomWambsgansSwans 🤦‍♀️ ate a lot of crap for dinner 🤦‍♀️ 🤦‍♀️

I just don’t seem to be able to control myself. It definitely hormones but I can’t seem to snap out of it. There was absolutely no excuse today, I walked the dog, I drank loads of water, my meal was all planned…. I just went and ate extra stuff.

Wilma55 · 06/04/2024 21:10

Have you tried the latest SW podcast:- How to bounce back after a setback.

Not listened myself so don't know what it's like. Hopefully once the hormones settle you will be back on plan. Good luck.

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/04/2024 15:34

@Wilma55 I don’t really listen to the Sw podcast. I listened to one and it was a bit dry so I never went back!

I’ve had a better day anyway, I think I just needed a firm word with myself. I’ve been for a slow run and a dog walk - horribly windy here!
my meals have been ok and we have roast pork for dinner tonight so I’m going to really bulk mine out with lots of veggies. Shopping order done for tomorrow.

and I’m going to Do some positive thinking:

  • I did 5 half hour hiit workouts this week
  • I’ve done total 45km in runs and dog walks
  • Averaging just over 13k steps a day which isn’t bad when I wfh
  • I’ve hit 100g protein every day 💪

my goal is to get more sleep though- average bedtime this week was 11.30 which is waaaaay to late! I’m getting around 6hrs 40 a night and I’d love to get that up over 7hrs. So that’s my non-scale goal this week!!

TomWambsgansSwans · 07/04/2024 22:13

@thenewaveragebear1983 @Wilma55 I can't abide the podcast either. I do listen to the odd episode if the topic is good so I probably will give it a go but it's definitely not in my weekly listens!

I like the SW leader (Anna) but Claire really grates on my nerves - she isn't very nice to Anna (there was one episode where she openly mocked Anna's pronunciation of a fruit and I thought it was really rude of her!).

More sleep is a brilliant goal for the week!

Wilma55 · 09/04/2024 20:39

I think the best SW podcasts are where they have guests!

WI today and a pound on,still in 🎯 range but only just.

Was listening to a Michael Mosley podcast about the health benefits of olive oil. Should have 20ml just over a tbs) a day. 6 syns though. Something to think about.

Sorry have absent for a little while. I'm changing careers, so have been applying for jobs and attending interviews, so my head has really been elsewhere! I weighed in Monday and had lost half a pound, which I was amazed at, seeing as I was not thinking SW at all last week!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/04/2024 21:50

That’s great @Testarossa44 , and good luck with your job search!

I’ve had a good few days, but I don’t expect a loss tomorrow at group, however I expect/hope my Easter gain will have dropped from 6lbs to around 3 and hopefully that means I’m still in the 10’s and not crept up to the 11’s again. I might try an SP week next week for a bit of a boost.

I need to have a think about what I want to do going forward. Everytime I’ve ever done SW I’ve reached this annoying plateau where I lose/gain/lose/gain the same few pounds over and over and I can’t be bothered with it to be honest. I don’t lose quickly enough to cover a weekends gain and life doesn’t allow for no social plans or events or treats and I just end up in a cycle. So I think I’m going to give it one more countdown, that takes me up to whitsun(ish) and I want to be half a stone down by then, or I’m changing my strategy.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/04/2024 19:07

So I weighed in, and I’m up 1.5lbs which considering I was 6lbs up last week was excellent and I will take that and run! I really am dead set on a good week this week, as always, I guess. So I’m planning a healthy dinner, no weigh in day treats, etc etc and long may it continue.
And I got my Gold body magic shiny ✨

Wilma55 · 14/04/2024 11:26

Well done @thenewaveragebear1983 & @Testarossa44.

How far from target are you @thenewaveragebear1983 ? Are you near and plateauing?

It's my last WI on Tuesday before my holiday and had hoped to get to lower end of target by then, but not looking likely. Had a good weekend so far. Last night shared 2 SW frozen meals with OH (Vietnamese beef and salt and pepper chicken) and made some SW onion bhaji. We both enjoyed. Today its roast chicken so no reason why I should go over syns.

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/04/2024 14:46

@Wilma55 my interim target is 10.9 and I’m currently 10.12.5. I think my optimum target would be 10.0 but my realistic target is 10.3/10.5. But I think even that will be hard to get to without cutting carbs or doing intermittent fasting or similar. I just lose weight very very slowly, and can regain it at alarming speed (eg 6lbs over Easter weekend 🤦‍♀️)

it’s weird because I actually look really quite slim now, I am down a dress size comfortably and in unforgiving high waisted no stretch jeans. But the scales do not budge. And I also think I need to be realistic about end goals because no matter how light I am, my skin is wrecked from giant pregnancy gains (I have had 3 10lbs babies and 2 c-sections) and I will never be a waif (although I grew up in the 90s so obviously that is ingrained in me)

Wilma55 · 16/04/2024 11:23

My target ìs 10.7. When I first joined WW 30ish years ago target was 9.0. I would like to get to healthy bmi so need a few more off but at the moment I need to get back to target and try to maintain. Obviously I'm older now and don't think I would look good at 9 stone.

Weighed in this morning at 10.8, pleased with that but probably last weigh in before cruise on 26th.
