Well done groovee

BasinHaircut · 21/02/2017 20:25

OH MY LORD I've just had this tandoori coriander and lime chicken for dinner. EPIC! And completely free.

Served with rice, peppers, onions and mushrooms.

Hi all, I joined last week and had my first weigh in today. 3.5lbs off, I am well chuffed with myself, however I hardly synned at all. I am looking to lose a stone to a stone and a half so a good start.

madein1995 · 21/02/2017 20:29

Well done what Smile

BasinHaircut · 21/02/2017 20:36

Good work what! But do eat your syns, otherwise you might start to feel deprived. I was only looking to lose a similar amount to you and I have all of my syns. I've lost a stone in 6 weeks so it does work. Don't be scared to indulge!

ButterChicken · 21/02/2017 20:41

Here to update... Had my first weigh in today and lost 4lbs! Happy with that as I wasn't mega strict in the last week as I just wasn't prepared enough so just ate lots of jackets potatoes and boiled eggs and bananas and cherry tomatoes Grin

Have 2 more stone to go and would like to be there by August..... If before then stay there by August!

Well done everyone.. It's taken over my life in a week but in a good way....

ALemonyPea · 21/02/2017 20:44

Well done losers.

That looks and sounds delicious Basin.

Just a heads up about mashed bananas, if anyone was to do them, they are a synned food as fruit is no longer free if mashed, juiced, cooked or puréed.

ClashCityRocker · 21/02/2017 20:45

Oh man, Cajun chicken skewers are one of my all time favourites.

You guys with your stone awards are all making me feel the pressure for Thursday! I'm at 13.5 so only need 0.5....it's been an odd week though. The usual over-indulgent weekend (but, on balance, not as bad as previous weekends) coupled with being ill means I have no clue what the scales are going to say. Mind you, I never bloody do.

basin looks tasty!

Well done what
I was wary of Syns when I first started (although I do tend to look at them on a weekly basis, which my consultant was distinctly unchuffed about) but they really do help you stick to plan - plus it gives you something to blame on those weeks when the scales aren't your friend Grin

lemony what's Cuban hash? Sounds exotic.

ClashCityRocker · 21/02/2017 20:48

lemony our consultant was on about that this week.

Apparently grated apples are synned - I didn't know that.

I asked if grated carrots were synned and got a Withering Glare and said of course they aren't.

This is part of what I love about group...

Groovee · 21/02/2017 20:53

Well done everyone on losing x

harderandharder2breathe · 21/02/2017 21:11

Hmmmmm.... I'm not a great or adventurous cook so I would be the one who gets in a flap over basic food and the others feel sorry for when they burn everything

Starter - ham and melon balls because melon IN BALLS!!! Shock

Main - my current fave is bacon, sweet potato and butternut squash stew

Pudding - mango and melon mullerlight with tropical fruit

Groovester · 21/02/2017 22:13

Well done on all the losses. It's nice to see people getting their awards. Well today is my birthday and it heralded my third meal out this week. Although I will hit the gym tomorrow and Thursday before class, I am not hopeful for a loss this week.
Tonight was the Chinese buffet. I wasn't ridiculous but not angelic either.
S - big plate of salad, pickle and some sushi.
M - noodles, chilli spiced chips(!), chicken and mushroom, beef and black bean sauce, chicken curry and sweet chilli chicken. All small bits but a big plate all together.
D - vanilla ice cream and a whole load of fresh fruit.

Was great though!

OwlinaTree · 21/02/2017 22:18

Stayed the same this week Sad. Better than a gain I suppose. Think I just ate too much at the weekend. I definitely ate past feeling full!! I just love food and hate leaving is when I'm enjoying it. I'll have to put less on the plate!

I used to love watching come dine with me, pre kids I used to watch them all on a Sunday afternoon.

Starter smoked salmon and Prawn salad.
Main maybe some sort of jambalaya?
Dessert fruit and meringues.

There would be a few syns in that though.

madein1995 · 21/02/2017 22:29

Food has been quite good today
B - Banana
L - Lovely chicken and mango salad (2.5 syns) with lighter than light mayo (0.5 syns) and some chicken. Loads of speed and mango chunks to follow.
Cup of tea with semi skimmed milk (some of Hexa) and 2 sweetner tablets
1/2 tsp of nutella (0.5 syns)
T - Tesco finest beef burger (2.5 syns) in wholemeal roll (Hexb) with 20g reduced fat cheese (hexa) and some more mango salad (1 syn) and ketchup (1)
2X citron vodka (6 syns)
1tsp nutella (1 syn)
2x slimming world meatballs
Bang on syns at 15!

Blueemeraldagain · 21/02/2017 22:36

I went! It was ok. The group is huge (I reckon about 35 people). Lots didn't stay (the consultant was a cover) but I found it hard to sit through the 15 or so people they went through in group. So that's a bit worrying for when there are 35 to get through!

Everyone was nice (I even made a friend!) and the scales only said 3 or 4 more pounds than I thought they would (still about 30 too many tho!)

harderandharder2breathe · 21/02/2017 22:36

Happy birthday groovester!

Lulooo · 22/02/2017 05:45

Ooh. I'll add my come dine with me menu later too.

I understand that some people want to stick to tge plan 100% just to be sure and I respect thst but personally I find I cant get over mashed bananas being synned if you're just having one. I don't mash a shit load and have them as pancakes or anything so can't see why it makes a fecking difference to the 'sugars' Hmmwhether I mash it with a fork before putting it in my mouth or whether my teeth and tongue do the mashing when I bite it. It's not as though I swallow the whole mouthful if banana without squashing it in my mouth.
I also don't get anal about cooked fruit. I chop an apple and stir it into my oats sometimes whilst it's still on the stove. I also sometimes take a couple of spoons of frozen berries and mash them with a spoon then microwave them to release the juices a bit before adding to plain yoghurt for a snack. I refuse to syn them.
Juices I can understand as it's easy to have too much but my consultant mentioned in group once that there's a science behind not mashing bananas and I just thought if there is some fecking 'science' behind it then tell me what it is to convince me. I'm sure my brain can handle it.

LavenderRains · 22/02/2017 07:46

I totally agree about the mashing lulooo it's ridiculous! Our consultant said it's synned because there is a tendancy to eat a lot more if it's mashedConfused I think just using your common sense about fruit is the best way. I'm addicted to mango, I eat treefulls of the stuff, but I've still lost 3 stone.
happy belated birthday groovester 🎁

weigh in for me this morning. Just need 0.5lb for my 3 1/2 stone certificate.

Groovee · 22/02/2017 07:58

Good luck Lavender

OwlinaTree · 22/02/2017 08:00

Good luck lavender.

Terrible night with the baby, she's up and down all the time at the moment. Toddler came into our room bright and early demanding breakfast as he hardly ate any tea last night. Going to be a tough day I feel!

PositiveAttitude · 22/02/2017 08:05

WI last night an a 1friggin lb GAIN!!! So bloody annoyed. It was grandsons birthday at the weekend and I made the cake and decorated it without as much as licking my finger, let alone licking a spoon, bowl or having a slice of cake!!! Angry I prepared food for 25 people and sat eating a bowl of sliced peppers, cucumbers and grapes! Gerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!
My bloody body does not cope with stress well and I have noticed over the past 8 months that the stressful weeks have been the weeks when I have had an undeserved gain. Not a lot I can do about the stress, though.

So, after making up for the "no cake" weekend I had a blooody massive slab piece last night. and then felt sick I bought one of the 3 month Slimming WOrld Journals last night, so I have filled that in this morning and I am going to write down everything I eat and keep writing the journal and I am going to get my butt in gear to losing again.

BasinHaircut · 22/02/2017 09:08

Missed loads of stuff last night but happy birthday groovester, good luck lavender and well done on all the losses.

My clothes feel big today. Felt like I was wearing someone else's coat this morning. Was a good feeling. We booked 2 holidays last week and I'm looking forward to buying some nice new clothes when the weather gets nicer. Just going to make do for now.

ALemonyPea · 22/02/2017 09:39

Happy belated birthday Groovster.

Oh PA, gutted for you. That's been me since November, on and off with weight loss. So frustrating. Hopefully you'll have a good loss next week.

Good luck for today Lav.

Happy birthday Groove

Well done Losers and well done on the Resistance Positive even if it didn't show on the scales.

Re the mashing fruit thing - I tend to take a pragmatic view. If it's one banana/apple/whatever (or the amount I would normally eat in a sitting for berries etc) then I don't give a flying fart what I do to it before it goes in my gob. It's not as if I'm a snake who dislocates my jaw and swallows it whole, FFS. I do chew! There is no caloric difference between a banana that has been peeled and eaten straight away, a banana that has been peeled and sliced, and a banana that has been mashed (assuming it is the same size banana of course!). When it comes to smoothies/juice, it's far easier to consume far more than you would if you were actually having to eat it which is why they need a blanket ban (because some people will liquidise a Mars Bar if they have to or are told it's free if they don't need to chew!)

Just need to lose half a pound tomorrow morning to get back in target...

Today's food (SP day):

B: Eggy muffins
L: Spicy butternut squash soup, apple, pear, satsumas
D: Bolognaise sauce and squoodles
HEA: Milk
HEB1: Ryvita (with cheese after work)
HEB2: Hifi bars
