Well.

After a very embarrassing 20 minutes on dd's new just dance game on the xbox one (which recorded my pathetic attempt and played it back to me Blush ) I was gasping for breath and completely aghast at the size I have reached.

I have text my nearest slimming world consultant and will be going to my first weigh in on Jan 6th.

I'm stunned at how bloody fat I am - really really upset with myself.

Confused

Right - I did it, I'm in! Like op I was shocked at the number on the scales - at first I thought it was the 24 hour timeBlush.

Today though is good eating day, feeling chuffed with the breastfeeding extra healthy extras - thanks for the heads up tickettyboo.

There was a Davina dvd mentioned upthread, has anyone got any other good exercise dvds that you'd recommend?

Badlands · 24/01/2014 18:14

Well done everyone with losses, we are up to 3st 1lb as a thread total! Welcome to anyone jumping on our wagon. My weigh in is tomorrow, hoping for a loss of course!

SamHamwidge · 24/01/2014 18:39

Can I join you please? Started beginning Jan and just got my 1/2 stone award. I'd like to lose about 7 stone which is doable if I can do 2lb/week.

SamHamwidge · 24/01/2014 18:41

For a year, meant to say. :)

FirConesAtXmas · 24/01/2014 20:07

Has anyone tried the chocolate cake in a mug?
It's on the sw website & FB page.
You need a microwaveable mug, 1 sachet options hot chocolate, 1 egg, & 4 tsp of sweetener ( I just used 2 & it was fine)
Mix the 3 ingredients in the mug, & microwave for aporox 90 seconds.

I had a muller Greek cherry yogurt with mine, & with a lot bit of imagination it was nearly a Black Forest type pud.
I wonder what would happen if you added a teeny square of dark chocolate to the mix?

Steffanoid · 24/01/2014 21:36

I did it lovingly for my dp (read tested on an unwilling participant) he spat it out and asked why I gave him chocolate scrambled eggHmm

FirConesAtXmas · 24/01/2014 21:58

Yh, I've just spotted a separate thread discussing the recipe. Everybody seems to hate it.
Tbh mine wasn't too bad, the cake was like a chocolate pudding, and the yogurt definitely helped.

Sangelina · 25/01/2014 07:53

You're all doing really well!

I've got a couple if questions for the experienced bods.

  1. I accidentally ate six Jaffa cakes yesterday. I'd already had my syns for the day. What can I do to repair this? Have no syns today?

  2. can anyone recommend a quite easy excercise video suitable for someone who us returning to excercise after a break? I've got all if Jillian michaels DVDs but they'll be too hard just yet, I need something more general aerobic-y.

Sangelina · 25/01/2014 07:54

Where are my manners? Thank you very much !Blush

Shaxx · 26/01/2014 12:20

Sangelina I'd go with having no syns or really low syns for a couple of days though I'm no expert!

Exercise videos - Davinas are good and I also like Tae Bo. I really need to get back into exercising.

I'm a bit down today as I think I've undone all my good work. I just don't know what gets into me but it doesn't take much to throw me off balance and then I lose all self control.
I had friends over on Friday night so I did food for the kids. I had good intentions and had something ready in the fridge for myself. However by the time everyone left and I sorted kids out for bed, it was really late and I just ate all the leftovers. I then carried on all day yesterday.
I'm trying to get back into it today again.
I think I just need to be a recluse for a while Sad

Please can someone kick my arse and tell me to sort it out? I respond better to that than to sympathy on how hard it is and we're all allowed to have a lapse here and there. That just makes me worse.

I'm hoping with no syns for the rest of the week and some exercise, I can manage a sts.

Badlands · 26/01/2014 18:07

Back on the wagon Shaxx! No excuses. Back on the plan from right now, no reason why not. No syns for a couple of days and lots of exercise and you can leave the transgression behind Wink

Sanglina I would agree, just go light on the syns for a day or two, I think Jaffa cakes are 2.5 each so 6 is 15, which you can have each day. So if you had no other syns, 6 Jaffa cakes is OK. quite why you would want to is beyond me however, Jaffa cakes, yuk yuk yuk

SamHamwidge we'll done on getting to 1/2 stone already, and welcome here.

I made cottage pie tonight and used vegetable stock for the mash and milk from my HEXA to add a bit if creaminess, was really nice. Brushed the top with beaten egg to make it extra brown and crunchy.

I was sts at weigh in which is a bit disappointing as I have been 100% on plan this week but think I had some post drinking water retention (lots of champagne on Thursday evening, but within saved syns for the week) or something because this morning on my scales I was 2.5lbs down from yesterday.... So hoping for a big loss on their scales this week (Saturday) My scales also do body fat and that says I have lost 3lbs of fat since last weekend which is really amazing... Though my %age body fat is still pretty yucky to think about. Still, going in the right direction I suppose on that front.

So thread total stays at 3st 1lbs.

Shaxx · 27/01/2014 19:42

Thanks Badlands! I've really tried today.
I need to do this! I have to this! I will do this!

I will be slim and healthy dammit. Just a bit of effort is all it takes and then I'll be who I'm meant to be!

Ahem. As you were....

WannaBeMarryPoppins · 28/01/2014 06:28

Second weigh in yesterday and I've lost three poufs so far. Slow start but I haven't stuck to it properly with meals out and a little too much chocolate.

Found group quite motivating last night, did a healthy shop an hope I can stick to it better now. Made the super speed soup yesterday and will have that for lunch at work.

SumBex · 28/01/2014 11:27

It was my third weigh in last night and I lost 4lbs. Was a complete surprise but I think some of it was from the week before but hidden by it being totm iyswim? So I've now lost 7.5lbs and got my half stone award.

I know this is ridiculous of me to even notice, but there is a woman who joined the same week as me, she's very attractive and I'd say quite slim (not that I'm judging as I get told I don't look like I need to lose weight but I do as all my clothes are getting tight and I know if I don't nip it in the bud, I will end up back at an obese weight). Anyway, she's lost just short of a stone in 3 weeks Shock. How has she done it? I know it's not a competition but it's easy to feel downhearted at how well it seems to work for some people.

Badlands · 30/01/2014 09:14

Well done SumBex and MarryPoppins on losses! I think that makes the thread total a massive 3st 8lbs.

SumBex, who knows on how other people give up weight??? It's a mystery. It could be that she's never dieted before, so her body would shed more easily, or that she was eating loads of carbs and thus retaining water which she's shed quickly... Or perhaps she has dehydrated herself the day before or loaded her pockets with rocks on the first weigh in Wink who knows??

Whenever my consultant gives an individual their overall stats most people are 1/2 or 1 pound a week on average over time, which is a safe and sustainable amount, and also more likely to be fat rather than muscle or other tissue.

So tell yourself all that and stick with it!

Mrsmuddypies · 30/01/2014 10:54

Hello ladies...May I join you all ? I have joined SW yesterday for the 2nd time....I am now officially at my heaviest ever :-( 13st 5lb, BMI 33 and I am only 5"3.

I have been looking at the SW website....not that impressed TBH I cannot see me using it unless finding out syn values...and no forum?

Anyways....I have a big birthday coming up in the summer and I am going away for some sunshine with my lovely (slim) friends!! And really don't want to look like a beached whale.. So I have set myself a goal of 11st by mid June...is this realistic?

So, I need some help.... I am off to a restaurant on Saturday for my parents 40th Wedding Anniversary, we are going to a Chef and Brewer pub....and I have looked at the menu and have no idea what to pick!! Everything seems to be laden with cheeses etc and I cannot find anything on SW to help! I could have a grilled steak, but I am fussy with steak and only eat fillet.... But not on the menu!! I have also done dry January so would like to save some syns for a couple of vinos!!

www.chefandbrewer.com/Media/menus/pdf/2013-Main-Menu.2.pdf

Hope everyone is having a good day so far... And TIA

freyasnow · 30/01/2014 11:24

Hi. I joined SW three weeks ago and have lost ten pounds. I started at 13-6 and am intending to get to 10-6 by end of June.

MadMadamMim · 31/01/2014 10:58

Hi all - back again. Freyasnow - We've got a similar starting weight and similar amount to lose but you're losing a lot quicker than I am! I've been going since January 2nd, and I've lost 6 pounds so far (Weighed in last night and another pound off despite a VERY BAD week!!!)
How's everyone getting on? I'm glad I lost a bit this week as I was really naughty last week - too many nights out, plus a bad cold meant I just couldn't face salad! But I'm back on track this week - I want my half stone next week!

Badlands · 01/02/2014 17:35

Mrsmuddypies I would go for the tandoori chicken to start and either the chicken Caesar salad with dressing on the side (and don't eat it) or ask them if the gammon is grilled and have that if so with a salad instead of chips or ask for plain boiled new potatoes or veggies. Just no chips Grin

I weighed I this morning and as I had sts last week despite following plan all that showed on the scales as well as this weeks, so I was 5lbs down, got my 1/2 stone sticker AND was slimmer of the week! So really really pleased!

So I make the thread total 4st on the nose. Wow!

freyasnow · 01/02/2014 19:19

MMM, I can't work out how or why some people lose more than others more quickly. Someone at my group lost eight pounds in a week, while others who try really hard are hardly losing anything. I'm vegetarian so am only doing the green plan. I am eating a lot of eggs, veg and potatoes/pasta/noodles but not much fruit.

SumBex · 03/02/2014 20:22

Oops. WI today and I've gained 0.5lb. It was well deserved though. Done the food shop so back to it this week. Good luck everyone Smile.

Badlands · 04/02/2014 20:39

Well done for getting back on it SumBex! 1/2 a pound is nothing, you get it off by sneezing Wink. Good luck and hope everyone is doing well.

FirConesAtXmas · 05/02/2014 21:59

Oops, lost this thread somehow!
Great to read how everyone us getting on. Had a good week, and lost 3.5 lbs, giving me 10.5 lb loss since 1 Jan. Smile

Btw, anyone else got the new magazine? Looks like some good recipes to try.

MadMadamMim · 07/02/2014 16:10

I maintained this week Sad feeling a bit low about it but I'm trying to remember that it might all catch up next week. Plus I've had a few people tell me I look like I'm losing weight so that's a good thing Smile

Badlands · 07/02/2014 21:08

Well done Fircones! And MMM don't be disheartened, I sts the week before last and then was 5lbs down the next and was slimmer of the week! If it had come off evenly I wouldn't have got it Grin. But I did feel a bit peeved on weigh in day I have to say, when nothing showed. But just think, next week you might get a really big loss....

Thread total 4st 3lbs
