Well.

After a very embarrassing 20 minutes on dd's new just dance game on the xbox one (which recorded my pathetic attempt and played it back to me Blush ) I was gasping for breath and completely aghast at the size I have reached.

I have text my nearest slimming world consultant and will be going to my first weigh in on Jan 6th.

I'm stunned at how bloody fat I am - really really upset with myself.

Confused

Went to my first class last night and was made to feel very welcome. I've got at least 3 stone to lose; I'm just planning my meals and shopping list for the supermarket. The plan seems a lot easier than weight watchers, which is the only diet I've done before. Good luck everyone!

MrsAbernethy · 03/01/2014 20:45

Smile Hello! I'm joining SW on Thursday next week - I've got about 5-6 stone to lose...I'm determined to get rid of the post-baby weight. Well, my youngest is 6 now so I think that I might have to face that it's not exactly post-baby weight anymore...! Not looking forward to weighing in, but confident that whatever weight I am today, I'll be less in a fortnight!

Badlands · 03/01/2014 20:58

We'll done Jaabaar! I am going to group for the first time tomorrow morning, 9:30. DH and I gave just my bike a once over (first time out of the shed in 2 years Blush ) and I will be cycling there... 5 miles. So hopefully they won't mind me a bit puffed out. My Christmas damage seems to be about 2kgs...

storminabuttercup · 03/01/2014 21:05

Could I join in please. I joined yesterday, had my first day on it today. I've not stopped eating! I've had 12 syns but I plan on seeing how I get on between 10-15 as I want something to play with if I'm not losing. If that makes sense.

The group was really nice and friendly Smile

jaabaar · 03/01/2014 23:12

Thank you!

I also did weightwatchers before. This diet is much easier to keep to and wastes much less time, eg calculating points etc. I'm very glad my friend pushed me soooooo hard to go.

I plan to loose 56 pounds till mid July! Let's see....

My bmi is 34.... Bad.

Castlelough · 04/01/2014 00:50

Mmmmmm I made the Hearty Chicjen curry from the current issue of the SW magazine (free booklet ) this evening - it was delicious!

I subbed in Fat free natural yoghurt for the fromage frais (because I couldn't find it in the supermarket) and it was really fab!

Have synned greatly though: my mother is visiting and I have eaten lunch out (soup & bread & butter) plus copious amounts of red wine......oh and cake Blush.

I had better start the day well tomorrow xx

chloeb2002 · 04/01/2014 11:49

Hello.. Slightly different for me. .. I'm joining online starting on Monday, but we live in aus so no meetings here.. Very determined tho! Loose the 20kg I need to and here there is only ww or jenny Craig. Sw has worked well before for friends and as a shift worker it will hopefully give me options to eat free foods over night or to pick at post nights! I just need to work out the rules as it seems to have changed from last time I looked at it when it was red and green days! Wink

Tallulaxx · 04/01/2014 12:10

First session today. Will join you lovely ladies want to lose 3 stone :( weighing in at 13st 10lbs lets do this!!

Castlelough · 04/01/2014 16:06

Good luck with your first session Tallu!

Chloe wishing you the best with the online group - and you'll have us too! It's harder to be good when you work nights/shifts. You really have to plan your meals in advance!

ArtyFartyQueen · 04/01/2014 17:47

Hi All. I'm planning on starting next Thursday as there is a morning meeting that's just started up that I can go to after the kids have been dropped off at school. Feeling nervous as I can't really grasp how it works very well but I guess that will all be explained at the first meeting! How is everyone finding it, fitting in with the family? I did Weight Watchers yonks ago but gave up as it was too difficult to fit in with the family - hoping it will be easier with SW. I'm in it for the long haul as probably half my body weight to lose Blush

MadMadamMim · 04/01/2014 18:20

Hi everyone signing in! This is my third attempt at SW - I know it works as I always lose but in the past I've lost enthusiasm. This year though I want to lose three stone before my wedding at the end of May which will take me down to 10st3lbs. Might be a bit ambitious though!

I went to my first meeting on Thursday, and feeling very dedicated at the moment! DP is doing it too, and I know it fits in well with the kids. Tea for tonight is SW chips, syn free ham and syn free fried egg LUSH! :)

MadMadamMim · 04/01/2014 18:20

I use too many exclamation marks Blush

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 04/01/2014 19:15

I've just made the Turkey and broccoli gratin (recipe on the website) I only had chicken and put loads of extra veg in it, I'm full as an egg now!

TheOnlySevenSleighbells · 04/01/2014 19:59

How is everyone finding it who has started?

My first meeting is on Tuesday, this week seems to have gone so slowly!

Badlands · 04/01/2014 20:11

I went today but didn't get weighed as I have a current online membership, so apparently I can swap that for group membership and not pay twice. But only once I contact head office and get a voucher... so next week for the weigh in, and proper 'registration'. Was all very friendly and actually quite a large group. Have been totally on plan today (and yesterday actually) and can see how actually going to group will encourage me to stick to it properly and not half heartedly.

Cycled there and back (10 miles in total) in quite frankly some stinkingly unpleasant rain but at least thought to myself, we'll, if I can cycle there in this mess, I can cycle there in anything. Though I think I will invest in some waterproofs as I felt a bit sorry for those around me as having a damp person sitting next you gently steaming dry is probably not that pleasant Grin

I feel really pleased that I have done the first meeting and excited about the possibilities of the future! We'll done to everyone else also kicking off on the journey.

FirConesAtXmas · 04/01/2014 22:24

Hi please can I join you? I started sw on Thursday, I've done it before, but I'm crap at sticking to any sort if plan for more than about 3 weeks.

But this time DD has a big event in April and I want to be at least 15 lbs lighter by then.

Castlelough · 05/01/2014 01:02

Of course you can Fircone Smile.

My DM is visiting and I am going to blame my synful day on her.... cake (twice), plus some other naughty items... more than 15 syns... BUT probably still better than a normal weekend.

She leaves tomorrow and I will have NO excuses. Would really like to lose something by the end of the first week...

Castlelough · 05/01/2014 01:03

Badlands good for you with the cycling! I'd love to get a bike. Maybe this will be the year! Smile

Goldensunnydays81 · 05/01/2014 08:55

Can I come and join you! I have just signed up online as I can't get to any meetings but I have got so much to lose Hmm but i am determined. I have hurt my back at the moment and I am sure most of that is down to weighing so much Hmm I even feel to embarrassed to go and see someone about it as I know it is down to my weight!
Plus I have just been asked to be a bridesmaid in August and all the other bridesmaids are size 10 Hmm.
What do people have for breakfast as that seems to be the thing that I am struggling with then if I started the day off bad I just continue in the same cycle!
Good luck everyone with weigh ins this week.

FirConesAtXmas · 05/01/2014 09:10

Castlelough thank you for the welcome. I always find it difficult to join a thread, but often lurk!

Goldensunnydays hi! I'm embarrassed by my weight too. In fact, I asked the 'weigher-inner' at sw not to tell me my weight, just record it on her system Blush

For breakfast I've been having stewed fruit (2 syns), fresh blueberries, & muller light yogurt, with a half portion of apricot wheats broken into pieces and sprinkled over the top. Then saving the rest of the cereal to snack on later on in the day. It's very tasty, but I think I may need something more substantial tomorrow before work.

fruitpastilles · 05/01/2014 09:24

Golden that's the same as me! I was a bridesmaid in June for my cousin and was the fattest one! I'm maid of honour for another cousin in June and am determined not to be the fat bridesmaid this time! all the others will also be sizes 8-12 so I'm hoping to be at least a size 12.
I've been quiet since my first post on this thread, I haven't started yet........ Got my healthy shop coming tomorrow but I'm not actually joining until Thursday, so will start posting properly then.

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 05/01/2014 09:29

Hi everyone its filling up nicely in here :)

Golden breakfast is an issue for me too, I like a big breakfast and it can often set the pace for my day too. This morning I'm having toast and scrambled eggs followed by a banana. The eggs are free, 1 slice of toast will be my healthy B and a second slice bought in at 4 syns. This seems to be work for me :) I'm also feeling your bridesmaid pain, it happened to me a couple of years ago Blush

Good luck everyone.

Badlands · 05/01/2014 18:11

Breakfasts I have include:
Lots of chopped up fruit/berries with either mullerlight or plain yoghurt (with sweetener) and topped with 35g Dorset Cereals simply delicious muesli (HEXB)
Same but with 50/50 quark and 0% total Greek yoghurt with lemon zest grated and lemon juice mixed in
Leave out the muesli if you want save HEXB for later (I don't always like to use syns first thing in the morning)
Scrambled eggs on top of back bacon with mushrooms/tomatoes or I eat a banana first
Poached eggs and baked beans with mushrooms
Boil short grain (pudding) rice in water till cooked, drain and grate over some nutmeg. Stir through sweetener and quark and mix loads of berries/chopped fruit. This is really filling, yummy, can be made ahead, and completely free.am also going to try similar with quinoa.

Badlands · 05/01/2014 18:21

Also just to share I made this today

www.slimmingworld.com/recipes/beef-bourguignon-with-swede-mash.aspx

(Hope link works)

Added some flour with syns attached (3 tablespoons but I was making double the recipe for freezer, so not much per portion), used knorr rich beef stock pot and put star anise in with the bacon/onions (pick it out before you serve it along with bay leaves and herbs) and it was really delicious. No different at all to how a stew would taste if made 'normally'. Would recommend!

littlemefi · 05/01/2014 18:29

Can I join too?
Have done SW twice before, got to target second time and stayed there for a year until got pregnant with dd, now aged 4.
Rejoined in sept but have been fart-arsing about on it, lost ten pounds but probably put 5lb back on over the last 2 weeks!
Am back to group tomorrow and plan to do a big SW shop tomorrow, as well as browsing the latest magazine to get some thinspiration!
