Is there any thread on here for those who have trouble sleeping at night? Just to keep each other company and feel less alone? Would be great if there is x

I don’t think there’s a specific one but you could ask Mumsnet HQ to create one, maybe suggest some titles. I think most people just use the chat board at the moment.

I'm still awake because I was hungry, debated walking 3 minutes down the road to McDonalds but decided to make a chicken sandwich instead, mainly because it’s chucking it down outside and I don’t want to get wet.

I did the 5 minutes walk to McDonald's and got Bigmac and fries. It's my weekend treat at the moment. Not bad for £3.50.

I’m so sorry to hear that. Lots of people here who are happy to help, if you need it…. Sending big 🤗 x

Awake and currently watching old QI on a tablet in bed.
I've been away for work all week and have just got a new matress which is v comfy but not as molded/ familiar to me as the old one.
Also have insomnia but tired at 10 so many hours awake. As its the weekend ive given up and watching tv.
Would love a macdonalds my nearest one is 15 miles away.

Thank you for making me laugh though

Me. My small person is medically complex and tonight his O2 and heart rate are hovering around the figures at which we need to phone the ward to be told to head in. I was thinking earlier how long and lonely the nights can be.

Oh, I’m really sorry, that’s horribly worrying. I hope things stabilise soon. My youngest DS is epileptic, and the nighttime seizures seem so much worse. I hope things improve and you get some rest…. x

Tiddlywinks63 · 30/08/2026 01:41

No particular reason to be awake, I have given up trying to sleep.
Made a coffee and will try reading my book.
I hope you all get some sleep soon.

Fatiguedwithlife · 30/08/2026 01:47

a knitting owl sounds more like a fever dream haha. Still not asleep so have had a marmite sandwich and a good laugh. Sorry for those having rubbish times 😞 hopefully they will pass soon.

ChristmasLightsLover · 30/08/2026 01:54

I’m here. Reading the thread. Just up to the knitting owls…

Away from home with the family. In the UK. Had a nap in the danger zone (after 3pm) because we were out tonight and then had an upset stomach so have been ‘home’ and am wide awake.

Thistooshallpsss · 30/08/2026 01:56

I’m awake because it’s my first night alone as my husband passed away a week ago.

ChristmasLightsLover · 30/08/2026 01:56

Non MN hugs to you, @alwaysanxious And love to you @seawolvesx

ChristmasLightsLover · 30/08/2026 01:58

Oh @Thistooshallpsss All the love. How are you doing? Do you want to tell us about him? Or do you want to hear about owls trampolining while doing their knitting? x

Seawolves · 30/08/2026 02:07

I am so sorry @Thistooshallpsss, I was in your shoes four years ago and I remember the pain so well.

Thistooshallpsss · 30/08/2026 02:22

Thanks everyone reading the kitten thread. Determined to master nights on my own my lovely children (grown ups ) are very supportive. We had been married for many many years and this was unexpected.

TheLifeOfReily · 30/08/2026 02:28

I’m awake too. Falling out with DP over adult SS. Pluse I drank a latte at about 8 which probably wasn’t a good idea! I like to lurk on MN when I can’t sleep. Hope everyone is okay. I’ve also been playing Pokémon lol

Or a John Lewis Christmas ad!

I've been struggling with anxiety for the last 10 days or so. Three nights ago I had a horrible nightmare, woke up, fell asleep and went straight back into it. I'm kind of scared to go to sleep at night now.

I've got a lot coming up over the six weeks -back to school next week but changing jobs in three weeks time - don't know if they've recruited my replacement over the summer hols and there's no one else that does my (non-teaching) job. New job is amazing and I'm a sector I've been wanting to work in for years but the induction process is pretty hardcore. DD's been home for the summer after graduating and is away atm then moving to a new city/uni, and my elderly mum is a bit of a worry.

It will all blow over. I've been having a good sort out in my room and will try and do the whole sleep hygiene thing for the next couple of nights.

Sending thoughts to those who are grieving or have poorly little ones 💐.

BeardySchnauzer · 30/08/2026 02:43

I’m up because DD at reading called as she’s unwell and in the medical tent. Luckily her dad is nearby.

big hugs to everyone

Sorry for your loss.
Perhaps others on here that have experienced same can talk with you.

There is a bereavement board I don't know how much traffic it gets.

You're having a right time of it with those meds
I recall your thread about starting them.
