Is there any thread on here for those who have trouble sleeping at night? Just to keep each other company and feel less alone? Would be great if there is x

but you only posted that before 7.00pm! I have been known to read/respond to MN stuff at crazy times.....usually whilst waiting for the cat to turn up. Recently been sleeping a little better, but doubt if I'll sleep tonight as had big row with DH and feel so wound up like a taut spring. It's our 35th wedding anniversary next Sat (5/9) and the way I'm feeling at the moment I doubt if we will be partners then!
I think I can hear his bath running, so I'll leave it until I know he is in the bath and make a tea and possibly do a bake (I can feel brownies calling) and try and calm down. But perfectly willing to chat if you wish?

I’m sorry I missed this post last night! I am hoping to catch you on here later tonight - interested to hear about your sleep problems as I’ve just started having them? I hope you made up with your husband and the brownies turned out well!

I'm awake because I'm trying to get to sleep on the sofa and it's uncomfortable boo!

rivalsbinge · 30/08/2026 00:16

I’m sure there used to be a night owls board or thread maybe? I’m around haven’t been to sleep yet as (TMI) my consultant w ate me on laxatives, long story so I’m up and down like a yo yo trying not to disturb the family, so staying away for a while longer but no doubt will be back later.

Whats up OP how come you can’t sleep or keep waking? Are you in the house alone?

Seawolves · 30/08/2026 00:47

Me. My small person is medically complex and tonight his O2 and heart rate are hovering around the figures at which we need to phone the ward to be told to head in. I was thinking earlier how long and lonely the nights can be.

Hycosaneyedrops · 30/08/2026 00:52

I don’t think there’s a specific one but you could ask Mumsnet HQ to create one, maybe suggest some titles. I think most people just use the chat board at the moment.

I'm still awake because I was hungry, debated walking 3 minutes down the road to McDonalds but decided to make a chicken sandwich instead, mainly because it’s chucking it down outside and I don’t want to get wet.

rivalsbinge · 30/08/2026 00:58

@Hycosaneyedropsas someone who lives in the middle of nowhere the thought of being able to walk and grab a McDonald’s is crazy for me and I would totally have gone!! My nearest is 30 minute drive 😂

Wonkywalker · 30/08/2026 01:01

I often lurk at night when my leg bothers me and I can't sleep with it. Tonight is one of those nights. Currently trying an ice pack and physio exercises to see if they help

FatterthanBarbie · 30/08/2026 01:03

I'm awake because I'm just feeling rubbish mentally

warmombre · 30/08/2026 01:03

Ha, similar here @rivalsbinge - 20 minutes from the nearest MacDonalds! Although I only ever fancy McDonald's when I'm recovering from flu, so I'd definitely be on Team Chicken Sandwich.

I should be sleeping but I'm awake worrying about my teenage DD and whether she is eating enough and googling all the advice etc - started out as a productive exercise but now I'm wide awake and feeling stressed and wired.

Fatiguedwithlife · 30/08/2026 01:06

I’m awake because of a really loud screeching noise outside waking me up. I went out in the back and a massive Owl was sitting atop my trampoline netting staring at the cat . After a quick Google and listen on YouTube, I think I have identified a short eared owl!

MurphysColeslaw · 30/08/2026 01:07

Well I would have gone to McDonalds if it was 3 minutes away.
A Big Mac might go some way to soaking up some of the wine I’ve had this evening.
sad and lonely as I am this evening

It only recently opened and has had a detrimental impact on me ever since. My bank balance has gone down and my number of chins has gone up.
I walk past it every morning on the way to work. It’s also open 24/7.

MurphysColeslaw · 30/08/2026 01:10

As mentioned in my post, I have had several wines this evening but I have to clarify in case my brain is completely buggered.
An owl was on your trampoline knitting?

warmombre · 30/08/2026 01:11

I think @Fatiguedwithlife wins the prize for the nicest reason to be awake, although I can imagine that being woken up by screaming may not have felt that nice!
Unmumsnety hugs to everyone in physical, mental or emotional pain.

warmombre · 30/08/2026 01:15

@Hycosaneyedrops I used to walk past a McDonald's every day and after a while I went totally off them - perhaps the same will happen to you.

Loving the idea of an owl knitting on a trampoline - sounds like something out of a Julia Donaldson book!

CalmFairy · 30/08/2026 01:20

Netting. Trampoline netting not knitting (although that would be one cool owl)

Seawolves · 30/08/2026 01:25

Sod it. I am going to make toast (my nearest Macdonald's is a 40 minute drive away).

MurphysColeslaw · 30/08/2026 01:25

Oh dear God I have properly lost the plot.

AlwayAnxious · 30/08/2026 01:27

Knitting owls 🤣

Really hope things improve and you dont have to go to the hospital

Sisublondie · 30/08/2026 01:34

Nearest McD is about 30 minutes drive away! 🙀.. jealous!

I was waiting up to pick DS up, but he’s going to stay at his mates ( been out on the razz!). I’m happy as I’m warm in bed, and it’s bloody windy and torrential rain outside…
