Ok so far this week , might change as the week goes on.

Very sweaty last night and it's only going to get worse

RareRubyRobin · 22/06/2026 17:46

Nearly naked like a starfish with fans pointing at me from both sides and the hubby banished to another room.

Its hotter than hell in our house!

BridgetJonesV2 · 22/06/2026 17:48

We've got a small portable air con unit (mainly as we've got an elderly dog) and our living room is so lovely and cool that I may well sleep in here tonight and take a chance with leaving the window open for the vent. Our bedroom was horrific last night, even with a Dyson fan on full choke and the windows open in every room upstairs.

MiddleAgedDread · 22/06/2026 17:49

In bed as normal

MigGirl · 22/06/2026 17:51

With a fan and the windows wide open. It has been cooling down at night so I haven't really had a problem. The only issue is waking up at 4am and having to shut the blinds.

Wishing14 · 22/06/2026 17:53

We have a 250 year old house - they made homes much better then, solid walls and lovely and cool inside…

Ooohletsgo · 22/06/2026 17:55

I have a fan next to the bed on full power so not really struggling in regards to actually sleeping. I’ve only woken up with swamp ass once.

KnittyKnotty · 22/06/2026 18:01

Move to Scotland, I'm sleeping like a baby 😀.

SleepingisanArt · 22/06/2026 18:21

Fine, but we do have proper aircon in the bedroom. (I'm very smug when all the people who said it was a waste of money when we had it installed complain about the heat at night!)

catlovingdoctor · 22/06/2026 18:28

Poorly!

doitwithlove · 22/06/2026 18:29

Not to bad, have a small fan.

Rituelec · 22/06/2026 18:30

Downstairs

tinyspiny · 22/06/2026 18:30

2 fans facing the bed from different angles , windows open overnight ( we have fly screens ) not had an issue yet .

shellyleppard · 22/06/2026 18:31

Just a sheet and a blanket.... just about comfortable so far

fedexxxxx · 22/06/2026 18:34

In the living room with 2 fans pointing at me

QuinionsRainbow · 23/06/2026 11:08

Hardware:
All windows upstairs closed during day, curtains drawn.
Once sun is off our bedroom window, and temperature has started to drop, fan at open window sucking cooling air in through the night. Rinse and repeat from breakfast time next morning.
Software:
100% cotton sheets top and bottom. Birthday suits in between.
.

1989STAR · 23/06/2026 11:11

With a portable air conditioner we have had for about 3 years. Honestly the best thing we ever bought!

SadiraOfTyr · 23/06/2026 11:15

Fine. Cellular cotton blanket (old baby blankets) and a fan. All the windows open and curtains drawn. Temperature in the bedroom was 25C which I can cope with.

Got bitten to shit by mozzies of course but that's part for the course for me. They love me.

EarlyRun · 23/06/2026 11:16

Sleeping well with portable air con units on all night! We bought them a few years ago as none of us were coping well with the heat.

SleepyLondoner · Yesterday 19:11

I'm actually lucky - our bedroom faces north so it stays a few degrees cooler than the rest of the house. But even so, I've had to make some changes this week:

  • Swapped my memory foam pillow for a cooling gel one - game changer honestly, my head was getting so sweaty at night
  • Bamboo sheets - they genuinely feel cooler than cotton
  • Shower right before bed, just lukewarm, then air dry in front of the fan
  • Kept the curtains closed all day to keep the heat out

The pillow swap made the biggest difference for me personally. I found this guide really helpful for choosing one: www.sleepreview.co.uk/pages/best-cooling-pillows-uk?utm_source=mumsnet&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=rep

Stay cool everyone!

Meadowfinch · Yesterday 19:14

Like a log. Naked, with all the windows open and without covers.

Heat doesn't really bother me, apart from wanting to drink more water.

mondaytosunday · Yesterday 19:20

Fan on all night and with nothing on.

Fizbosshoes · Yesterday 19:22

Im not really!!
Trying to keep the house cool and close doors /windows/blinds etc during the day, but DH is constantly undermining it by opening a window here or there. Downstairs was a lot cooler last night so I slept for a few hours down there last night, with the back door open. Gonna do that again tonight but its barely been more than 2 or 3 hours sleep/night this week 😫

Petrine · Yesterday 19:26

All windows wide open and no bedclothes.

Owninterpreter · Yesterday 19:30

Ive slept ok but im having to go to bed much later than normal. We've followed all the advice but our bedroom is 33 degrees right now and outside it dropped to 35.

It didnt cool down much overnight despite all the windows open once the temperature dropped. It was 22 outside at 6am but my room had only cooled to about 27. The house seems to want to keep hold of any heat.

Downstairs is cooler.
