So my usual American site has now been blocked, any suggestions?

I just go to a chemist and buy sleep aid over the counter, costs about £6 for 30 but it really works.

No-one use these! I thought the prices looked a little too good to be true so I googled them - loads of 1* reviews saying they take your money and don’t send the items. Preying on desperate people it seems!

Ive had an email saying there dispatched. Oh god I hope ive not been scammed 😫😫😫😫

I hope not too and that it turns up ok. Have a google of that site name and put reviews after it - you can then read for yourself to see if others were told it was dispatched etc.

Can anyone give a name of the pills or a link on Beovia? I tried their search for melatonin and it's showing no matches. Please🙏

YES GET IT FROM THEGP

You say that as if it’s really easy. I had to fight to keep B12 injections, that I need to stay alive (and are dead cheap). Previously doctors could only prescribe it if first prescribed by a consultant. That may have changed, but it’s whether or not doctors know that - whether or not they’re the sort of doctor happy to prescribe it (many more traditional doctors won’t even consider it).

Also, it was really rude of you to shout at everyone like that.

I’m curious since you are shouting at us to go the the GP , have you been prescribed Melatonin yourself . The NHS guidelines if you have a willing doctor appear to be a 13 week course taking 2 or 3 times a week and it still states for over 55 when looking at adults . If you want more you would need a specialist referral.

Thank you so much for this.

I did think they were very cheap but then I didnt pay much on piping rock, always got them on the 50% offer.

I hope my desperate need for hem hasn't left me 30 quid out of pocket!! ❤️

sunflowerdaisies · 10/02/2026 08:26

@Tillow4everi don’t understand all the tracking but currently says held with an exclamation mark so not feeling hopeful. But the customs notes on there don’t appear to be problematic! Will see if they turn up today.

EDIT: now seems to be on its way again!

Seriously I just told my gp that I had tried some from Canada and they fixed my insomnia and he agreed to prescribe them for me. Have you even asked?

Depends on the GP, NICE guidelines say for adults prescription should be for those aged 55 and over only, there are reasons for this I just can’t remember why. Both dh and I have spoken to different GP’s at our surgery about prescription melatonin, and both told no you’re not >55 and they have to follow NICE guidelines.

I am 48 and have been taking melatonin 2mg from the gp for two years now. I’m sorry everyone’s gp is not so helpful. It actually changed my life to be able to get back to sleep now

KitseyBarbour · 10/02/2026 10:06

I was recently prescribed a month of melatonin by a specialist but they won’t prescribe any more as they aren’t allowed. I have insomnia induced by my cancer treatment. GP also can’t prescribe. I can’t take herbal remedies due to cancer drugs.
I ordered from Biovea yesterday. It still says order pending.

Biovea website has just worked for me .

I can’t find it on there. Nothing comes up under sleep aid? Which section did you use?

sunflowerdaisies · 11/02/2026 16:28

Mine arrived today from Biovea.

Was just gonna suggest that after a friend said that’s what she does!

I started buying mine years ago on holiday, usually in France. Then I found the same ones on Amazon, so bought there for a while, maybe couple of years, and then they stopped selling it and so was buying from a French pharmacy online the last few years. Went to buy my next 12 months supply in 25, when I ran out, and suddenly you couldn’t get them. I tried to get round it by making sure I was buying from their “French” site (I’m sure before this there was no English side to it, it was just the French one that shipped everywhere), so could then find them in search but got to the basket and blocked again. It’s so annoying! I think we did find somewhere else after that but for whatever reason we didn’t get them at the time. I’m considering asking my gp, although I don’t expect he’d prescribe whilst still prescribing the sleeping tablets I also take.

eta: I shall try and find out which site it was that we found and shall come back if it still works, in case anyone else is still looking.

@midwalker i think it was you that mentioned the melatonin helps you get to sleep but didn’t keep you asleep, the melatonin I used to take had some kind of two phase thing, so will also help you stay asleep. I think one of them was something like Mela-sommeil. That was the brand I used mostly. I do also take magnesium anyway, although not necessarily for sleep. I’ve been taking 5-htp (has griffonia seed in I think), that helps convert to/increase melatonin as well.

I bought some at a pharmacy in Seville. They were 2.5mg but didn’t do much for me. I read that small doses were more effective though, should I go up? Going abroad again next month so will try again.

Yes, everything I’ve read on the effects of melatonin say that smaller doses are more effective - around 2mg. The ones I’ve taken for years were 1.9mg. I’ve bought and taken higher doses but they absolutely haven’t worked any better than the 1.9 ones o I’ve always gone back to those. I had been taking the same brand for years, after first buying in France years ago, ocassionally also buying others alongside to see if increased dose or a different brand with different make up would be more effective but I always came back to the same ones. They had some bi-phasal thing with other ingredients that helped you stay asleep as well as helping you get to sleep.
(Honestly, if you’re going away and are able to find some, I don’t suppose you’d consider messaging me and getting me any? I am a real person and recently met up with another couple of mumsnetters to be random, stranger witnesses at their wedding, after they posted on here, so I could prove I’m a real person 😄)

Itsasecretnow · 12/02/2026 12:33

After seeing other posts on here I have now placed an order on (I don’t think it’ll let me post a link) biovea . com. Not the . net domain, that doesn’t seem to have it on there. As they're new brands for me I’ve ordered a couple of different strengths to see how they are.
It seems they do a refer a friend type thing where you both get £10 off your order. If I’d have known that I’d have posted asking if anyone on here that had an account could’ve sent me their link 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ But I guess if anyone else is considering ordering from them I could send you my referral link at least. I also had a money off code as well. A couple, actually. A 15% off code does pop up when you’re on the site so I used that. Then a 20% off code pops up after you place your order for your next order…now that would’ve been more useful.
I’ll report back with how they are on delivery (I got free 2 day over £50) and how effective the capsules are. I got different strengths plus time release ones as well. 🤞🏻🤞🏻
(no, not affiliated, purely giving it a go due to the pp having used it before, but hoping they’ll be as good as the usual brand I’ve used for years from the French pharmacy)

I've been buying liquid melatonin from biovea for years, no problems. I don't know about gummies, but biovea are definitely legit and very good to buy from. They very often do buy one get one half price or similar offers. I haven't done an order for a few months, so of course I don't know if anything has/will change with customs

It’s Portugal I’m going to so I’ll scope out the pharmacies there and see what’s what. I see you’ve placed an order with Biovea so hopefully you’ll be fine with them. I might go down that route too!

Has anyone tried the Well Gummies melatonin? They seem to still be shipping to the UK.

I tried magnesium oil, but it made my skin prickle and sting- anyone else had this?

Mine did too but I think I went a bit mad in desperation when I first started using it. I’d also shaved my legs in the shower an hour before applying- not recommended!!! It does help loads with my restless legs but I use less now and definitely don’t shave my legs as often 😱
