So my usual American site has now been blocked, any suggestions?

I've been trying melatonin recently as I bought some when I was in America last year, but as others have said, it doesn't keep me asleep all night. The only thing that has helped with that tbh is Nytol . Although you're not supposed to take them long term. I hate not being able to sleep, it's such a curse!

caterpillary · 07/02/2026 19:11

I break 2mg in half and it gets me back to sleep at 2Am until morning, without them I would be awake for at least two hours and sometimes until morning

I only take 1mg on the whole and find it helps, could be a placebo of course!

There must be something wrong with me!! I take 30mg. I should be sleeping beauty with all that. Instead im like a wide awake gargoyle 😪🤣

Have you tried a really low dose? I know it sounds odd, but if you read online about melatonin dosage it seems that it’s more effective in lower doses. Failing that, have you tried combining it with valerian? Or if I’m desperate I take piriton which always works.

dancingcs · 07/02/2026 20:27

Biovea seems to have stopped too!?

Oh no! Gutted piping rock is gone. Looks like it's more holidays to to continent now to stock up.

Going to the canaries soon, anyone know if you can buy it there?

It’s Spain so yes. I get mine in the supermarket but if you don’t find it try a pharmacy.

Thank you ❤️ I have a large suitcase worth of luggage and only going for 3 nights. So I can grab a few!

InLoveWithAI · 08/02/2026 00:46

I've just ordered from biovea! Still working. More expensive than piping rock though!

TooOldforThisSh1t3 · 08/02/2026 01:02

Me, my kids and my SIL/.BIL all use Natrol melatonin gummies. Sleepaids.com
Seeing this made me panic, so just went on and bought another 4 months worth of 1mg (£23.99) which all went through ok. SIL uses 10mg so I know they do different strengths

GreenGodiva · 08/02/2026 06:42

For help with sleep it’s magnesium glycinate you need, not just plain bog standard magnesium. I actually tried a 5 day trial of a magnesium glycinate powder drink called healthy metals and I found it helped more than my normal magnesiumGlyc supplement. These days I’m try anything and everything though. Calm app for relaxing sleep stories ( didn’t work) hypnosis ( worked for 90 minutes then wide awake) hrt ( prog helps a bit) sex /orgasm ( cba 80% of the time) electric blanket ( too hot) windows open ( too cold). I am the Goldilocks of sleep and consider myself lucky if I sleep well 10-12 nights out of 31

ilovefrenchfancies · 08/02/2026 07:14

i’m going to France soon. Will I be able to buy them off the shelf there? If yes I assume I’d need to go to a pharmacy for them?

You can sometimes buy it as a supplement in Spanish supermarkets, not sure about France.

Flymetothemoonplease · 08/02/2026 07:29

Biovea website has just worked for me .

CharlotteSometimeslikesanafternoonnap · 08/02/2026 07:41

I got some gummies before from Piping Rock and when I was running low happened to mention it to a (Polish) colleague. She bought me some melatonin tablets from a local Polish shop, they just have them behind the counter.
I stock up when I/anyone I know go to America, there's a particular one from Target that really suits me, not all are equal it seems. The only other thing guaranteed to get me to sleep is a coffee or a Red Bull before bed, but I can't cope do that at bedtime anymore due to needing to pee all night.

I started at 2mg and ive gradually built up. I will try again with a lower dose and see how i go, valerian root? I haven't tried that but I will add it to my Holland and Barrett basket now.

Thanks for your help xx

dancingcs · 08/02/2026 21:37

Sorry not sure what I was looking at! Have found them. But wow they are a lot more expensive than Piping Rock!! What a shame haha.

HappyNooYear · 08/02/2026 23:49

Omg thanks so much for this info!
biovea is the only one of the websites mentioned that has allowed me to purchase. Devastated that piping rock is blocked.

Crispynoodle · 09/02/2026 00:52

Dunno if this helps at all but I was able to stop taking the dreaded Z medication that I’d been on for 10 years by getting HRT then once I formed better sleep hygeine I stopped the HRT (after 3 months I think)

Oh i know... I feel like im running on fresh air. I go to my bed at 8pm and im up at 6 to get the oldest up for school then sort the wee one. I am gubbed 😔. When the legs start I could honestly cry, I literally swing the legs for hrs and hrs wishing I could cut the bastards off 😆 🤣 😂. That would be so good if you could let me know what you get, I actually just got an email from Holland and Barrett this morning telling me I had 5 quid to spend on my awards card. Guess what im buying? Xx

Apologies for delay.
these are the ones I use. Currently using the h&b one more. This one is better than their old one. But I think my friend still uses the betteryou one, as that’s the one she used at mine I think. But both are good, but definitely preferring the new h&b one. I know that she’s said a couple of times that it has helped her restless legs so much. I would definitely give it a try. I always use more than they say but you’d need to see how much works for you. Definitely worth trying.

Also, love the word “gubbed” (autocorrect wanted to use gunned!), have never heard that before 😄

They've stopped shipping to the UK 😬

Oh no that’s really crap. I got mine from there for me, my 18 and 14 year olds. We just used the dissolvable tablets. Luckily I bought a couple of spare tubs last time, so I have time to search for an alternative.

I wonder if the Amazon US website might sell them. I have used the German site before to buy B12 injections so it might work on the US one for melatonin!
