  • I wish.

Morning all,

Hope you find this!

for your rough night Amber.

After a few good ones, we had a crap one too. Up at 1.30, 3, 4.30, 5.30, 6.15........
I think she was a bit overtired last night. Hope we can get her napping better today .

So how were all your nights?

OP posts:
Tamdin · 16/09/2007 09:46

dh drinking until 3 or working?

MegBusset · 16/09/2007 09:54

Morning all.

Baz, bet you feel like a new woman!

Amber, those pesky DHs.

Tam, sounds like a good night too.

Ours was not bad, bed at 7.45, up at 11, 2.30, 5 then in with us til 8.15. Loving these lie-ins!

Tamdin · 16/09/2007 09:59

morning meg thst sound like an ok night. the lie in makes all the difference doesn't it. maybe it's because the mornings are darker!

Where's tibs?

Amberjee · 16/09/2007 10:55

Tam - definitely not working! prob drinking.
today he blames it on the lack of cabs

Tamdin · 16/09/2007 11:08

ah the famous taxi didn't show/couldn't get one line. Good practice for when ds is trying it on you!

EffiePerine · 16/09/2007 16:24

Baz: that sounds fantastic So glad it's working for you.

Slightly better night last night, we had one long stretch from about midnight to 4, but another waking at nine and not going back into cot night. Eventually asleep again at 10 (in with us, of course).

Am planning to get a bed rail as I can't see DS moving out any time soon. Not sure what I feel about it - it's much easier for me, but I would like my bed back at some point.

EffiePerine · 16/09/2007 16:27

Meg: we were in London Fields today . Didn;t get to the Lido though.

I was thinking about a poss meet-up on a Wednesday: what about the Geffrye Museum? They have some good exhibitions and a nice garden out the back - think they may have a cafe as well but would have to check. It's an easy journey from Liverpool Street:

www.geffrye-museum.org.uk/

MegBusset · 16/09/2007 16:44

EP, that museum looks nice. I can't do this Weds as have a friend visiting, but could do next week maybe? Is it walkable from Liv St, or a bus ride?

EffiePerine · 16/09/2007 16:46

Map here:

www.geffrye-museum.org.uk/visiting/map/

prob is walkable from Liverpool Street, or you canhop on the 149 which is a bendy bus or the 242 (which isn't) - both leave from outside LS station.

Amberjee · 16/09/2007 17:52

is good for me, can catch overland train to old street. let me know when.

EffiePerine · 17/09/2007 08:53

What about Wednesday 26th (next week)? Hopefully the weather will cooperate, but there is a restaurant . From what I remember it's a lovely museum.

When is best for people's naps etc.? Late morning/lunchtime/early afternoon?

Last night: late nap and therefore late night, bit restless but not TOO bad. DH still not happy with the co-sleeping. I'm inclined to go with it until we move. Tried again (yes, I know) to put DS in the cot last night when he wasn't up for it, cue lots of yelling. Am planning to get a bed rail which should help - DH still worried abut squashing him so he doesn't sleep deeply.

We also went to Hackney City Farm yesterday so DS got to see some hens and things. Not that exciting!

Hope there were some good nights out there.

ImBarryScott · 17/09/2007 09:04

Morning everyone,

EP - can I gatecrash your museum visit? At the moment we're pretty home based as we're midway through project dummy wean. But we need to get back out there soon, so I can get DD used to napping in her buggy again. Hope the bedrail helps DH, and all of you, to sleep better.

Last night - 10 mins crying, slept til 1, self-settled at 1 and 4, needed 5 mins soothing at 5.45, up at 6.45. Just gone down for am nap with 5 mins crying.

The length of crying is not long, but it's still proper loud, amps up to 11 crying, rather than a gentle whimper . I'm really hoping this improves over the week. BUT - no night feeds, (she was only taking 3oz nightly anyway) and no dummy .

Hope to hear of some good nights.

OP posts:
MegBusset · 17/09/2007 09:16

Baz, that sounds like progress re: the dummy. Are you still swaddling her, or ditching that at the same time?

Next Weds is good for me re: museum. Personally it's tricky to get out before the afternoon because of naps and meals -- so best time for me is after his lunchtime nap.

OK night for us - bed 7.45, woke 11, 2, 4.30 and in with us til 7.30. We seem to be stuck in this three-waking rut, but it is so much easier than the zillion-waking rut we were in a couple of weeks back that I'm not inclined to try to change anything right now -- too busy catching up on some of the last few months' sleep deficit!

Also, his second tooth has come through with no trouble at all. But did nip my, er, nip during this morning's feed -- hope that doesn't become a habit!

Must go and put him down for morning nap...

Amberjee · 17/09/2007 09:32

there seems to be no good time for us to go out, around naps etc, so i'll do any time, throw naps to the wind, etc.

gingerninja · 17/09/2007 10:33

Oh, horrid night here. Not DD but me. We're all ill and I spent the night wanting to vom. Actually vomming and not sleeping. DD has had a very upset tummy with three dirty nappies at night and DH went to bed at 5pm even more ill so today I'm feeling very sorry for myself.

Baz glad the cc is going well for you

ep, definately recommend the bed rail. It really helps. We've resorted to cosleeping again but in DD's room and we take it in turns so one of us gets some sleep. You will get your bed back eventually.

Tamdin · 17/09/2007 11:07

morning all

Ginger sick
nearly every child that starts nursery goes through the entire range of cold viruses and then the gastro ones. it usually peters out after 2-3 months.
Hope you get some rest today.

crappy night here.
ds sick again too (back at playgroup this week so no surprise)
coughed so much last night he was sick (cue chnage of bed linen etc)
settled back down to sleep and he was sick AGAIN!
wanted to cry
anyway at least it happened at start of night so he was asleep by 11.30 and didn't wake unitl 7.30 this morning so i don't feel as horrid as i could do.

Ep have given up on cot. have decided to try a proper bed when we move and until then co-sleep.

Baz glad you're making progress
meg 3 waking lasted for quite a while for us then went to 2 and then 1.can cope with 0ne no probs.

Hi amber not sure how your night was?

where's tibsy?

MrsThierryHenry · 17/09/2007 11:19

Hi all, long time. I'm really to see that so many of you are still suffering even though it's been months since I last got on this thread.

My dh was made redundant and is now a freelancer, working from home at the mo, which means I can't get on the computer till you're all in bed!

Also looks like I might be made redundant too... but that's another story.

Ginger - huge sympathy for your voms and big hugs to all you exhausted mums. My ds (now 10 months) has been steadily improving since I banished all parenting experts from our household. Now am mostly able to get him to fall asleep in his own bed - from wide awake through to crying, and then I leave him once he's sound asleep. Was also waking just once a night and had completely weaned him off bfing at night.

And now he's teething. Oh, lordy.

Tamdin · 17/09/2007 11:40

hey mrsTH.
to hear about your dh's redundancy and your possible one. very stressful

sounds like your ds is making great progress though so well done all of you

tibsy · 17/09/2007 12:23

hello to all you lovelies....

have been a wee bit busy, so no real chance to get to the 'puter
had a great day on sat, thelocal council asked us (at work) to be part of their healthy living event, so we were therapising everyone from 10am til 4pm had a really good response and met some lovely people then i went out on sat night with a friend and we got rather merry on bacardi and coke went to a club and danced our arses off....didnt get in til 3am

sleepwise, we've had a good couple of nights, best one was when dp had dd

its so lovely to be back and to read your posts

ibs, about the crying, but really for your sleeptastic bubba. You're doing a grand job my lovely

ginger, sorry youre feeling crappy. i hate that nausea feeling, a huge relief when you do actually upchuck imo (although not very pleasant obviously) hope you feel better soon x

hi tam, glad you had a good night out too and for poor lo feeling poorly

hi mrsth, for hubbys redundancy and your threatened one, hope something else comes up for you. yey for the sleeping improvements and night weaning (am of that one!) ....but teething, arrrrggggghhhh!!

hi to amber, hope your little piranha has found better things to nibble on

for your ok night meg, what is it with these nipping nippers?....ouch

and hi to ep bed rail sounds like a good idea

MegBusset · 17/09/2007 13:24

hi Tibsy! Thought you had run off to the land of the sleeping and abandoned us!

Ginger, sorry you're all feeling rough. And for poorly Tam's DS too.

Hi MrsTH, glad things are going so well for you (apart from the teething, obv). How did you wean off BF at night?

tibsy · 17/09/2007 13:52

oh gawd, i wish!!!

EffiePerine · 17/09/2007 13:58

Great to hear from you, Mrs TH . Great progress on the sleep.

Ginger: hope you get some rest today - are you at work? It's awful when you're all ill. Tam: hope your DS recovers soon as well. I suppose we're now in the illness season and our LOs are more likely to get ill as they're socialising with other kids.

Re biting, DS has started to bite quite hard (ouch!) generally at the end of a feed. I say firmly 'no biting' and stop feeding. He's started grinning at me after he's done it which is cute and irritating at the same time!

Meg: def sounds like progress to me

Baz: that sounds like a great night. Hope the crying calms down soon.

EffiePerine · 17/09/2007 13:59

Oh and Baz, of course you're welcome to come, as is anyone who's in London/general vicinity next week

tibsy · 17/09/2007 14:56

dd has been asleep for almost 2 1/2 hrs ....... had to go and listen at the door, but she was breathing so lightly, i had to walk over to check on her she looks so peaceful , ahhhh......hope this means i'm in for a good night

ImBarryScott · 17/09/2007 15:40

ginger - sorry you're so poorly. must feel like really hard work today.

tam - your poor DS! hope he's much better today.

meg - glad that tooth was not too much bother. we've ditched the swaddle as well as the dummy. Hoping to kill two birds with one stone!

mrs. th - glad to hear that the sleep is improving, but sorry to hear of all the other changes. must be rather stressful. hope it all works out.

tibs - lol at you checking on dd. dh did this the other night when dd sslept 7.30-7. apparently he awoke in a blind panic at 4am.

DD settled down to her nap with 5 mins faffing around in the cot, and about 2 minutes crying. still really full-on crying though, then silence. am starting to think that this baby only has one volume .
