  • I wish.

Morning all,

Hope you find this!

for your rough night Amber.

After a few good ones, we had a crap one too. Up at 1.30, 3, 4.30, 5.30, 6.15........
I think she was a bit overtired last night. Hope we can get her napping better today .

So how were all your nights?

OP posts:
tibsy · 01/10/2007 17:02

sorry amber, cant help on either of those Q's

have just watched the trailer for run, fat boy, run....love simon pegg and really used to like spaced, think i may have to watch that

hope we see some good nights tonight x

MegBusset · 01/10/2007 18:36

Amber, we have got the BabyDan portable bed rail, and our bed has slats.

LO has got another hospital appt tomorrow morning about his eczema. Unfortunately the appointment is right in the middle of when his morning nap should be, so the day's routine will go right up the spout

Do you think it's OK to just give him milk tomorrow and not bother with lunch, or will he miss it? Would make it easier not having to plan around that too... (as last time we waited 90 mins to see the consultant, so we'll likely be there til lunchtime).

gingerninja · 01/10/2007 20:33

Amber, my DH made our bed rail so 'fraid i can't help. on the aubergine front, i have given them to DD but rarely (she doesn't like them anyway). They're related to the tomato (nightshade) family along with potatoes and she has a sensitivity to tomatoes so I don't bother. sweet about the arm sucking. Bless him

Meg, you're in the early stages of weaning aren't you/ In which case I wouldn't worry if he skips a meal. You could always give him some finger food, rice cakes or something while you're waiting instead. Meg, My DD took some coaxing with a bottle but you may find he takes it from someone else. If desperate they could always syringe, cup it or spoon it.

Tam for Dublin for your DS (and mum for being so upset)

Skirmish, for your early morning. As you know we have early mornings. Today it was 4.20 for the day i said to DH, "No it is not" so I turned the night light off, gave her her bottle and she went back to sleep until 7.30. Let me tell you that is a very very rare thing. She very rarely goes back to sleep once she's done the tummy push out stretch!

Anyway, I'm off for a bath. Hi to Tibs and any one else I've missed.

skirmish · 01/10/2007 21:14

tibs - if you thought august was an expensive month for you, spare a thought for my dh & family...ds's birthday mid nov, mine 4 days later, and then this one is due 2 days after that - so, a week between the two kids! Never thought i'd actually pray to go the max 2wks overdue, but would like it that way so they aren't right on top of each other Starting to think I may only be fertile round feb/mar times!

ginger for your early start - why oh why oh why, and don't you work as well?! at least i can just mooch around looking like crap! thankfully, the 5am wakings seem to be on the way out (say, 2 a week) but I would love it if he went back to sleeping til 7 - how i would kill for a lie -in!

megs - can't help you on the aubergine front, not that keen on them myself (it's the texture ) Maybe take 'snackish' type food for ds - would he sit in the pram and have a yoghurt/fruit pot? or, just give him milk

Hope everyone had an ok monday

Amberjee · 01/10/2007 21:38

megs, i wouldn't worry about just giving him milk. it's just one meal anyway. ds didn't get breakfast this morning as i was in bed and dh was running late , and the other day i just missed lunch as i knew he wouldn't really eat it anyway. usually if we're out i just try and give him a few sticks of something or a bit of fruit. don't stress though, i hope the hospital helps with the eczema.

MegBusset · 01/10/2007 21:39

Amber, we are not allowed to have aubergine in the house as DH hates it I love it though! The only time I get to indulge myself is if we're out for an Italian, I always go for melanzane parmigiana

LO does like to suck a rice cake (about the only finger food he has got the hang of so far) but not that much seems to 'go in' yet, so don't think I will worry about taking food tomorrow, he's still very much a tit man

Amberjee · 01/10/2007 21:43

thanks meg, is this the one
and does it fold down if you are not using it?

Amberjee · 01/10/2007 21:47

ginger, thank god she went back to sleep. i don't accept anything before 6am as up for the day!

MegBusset · 01/10/2007 21:49

Yep, that's the one. It would fold down, except that our bed frame is a 'bucket' style where the mattress sits an inch or so recessed into it (er, hope that makes sense).

Amberjee · 01/10/2007 21:51

oh yeah, i think ours may be bucket too. oh well. guess i'll be locked in bed

skirmish · 02/10/2007 07:33

morning ladies

can't believe it is still raining - hate going out and faffing about with raincovers on the pram, on/off, up/down...pita!

meg- hope all goes well at the hospital today . Has ds just got ezcema or other allergies too?

ok night here. Ds is becoming very unsettled about half hour after going to bed, really screaming sometimes, so much so that we have to take him out of his room (can't do the 'leave them to cry it out' thing). Usually calms down fairly quickly and goes back to sleep easily, but has a couple more grumbles- any words of wisdom?

Up at 6.10...tried unsuccessfully to bring him into bed, but he just kept rolling/poking/chatting so figured we may as well get up

What's everyone got planned for the day?

EffiePerine · 02/10/2007 07:49

Amber: we have the babydan bedrail as well and it does kind of fold down despite the mattress being a bit recessed.

Quick one today as have a first aid course for the rest of the week and need to get dressed and out!

Am: hope DS is better otday. Did youtake him to the docs? It's scary when they aren't their usual enthusiastic selves .

mber: yay for your night out Had the day off yesterday and DS was at the cm, so DH and I went out for lunch and to the pub to read the paper. V nice but prob confirms that outr lives pre-baby weren'ty actually that exciting . Have just got a bumper lot of dvds from Amazon so we don't need to go out again for a few months...

Ourt nights have been a bit odd, thoughDS has stayed in his cot till about midnight, He;'s v unsettled (can hear him squeaking now) - I suspect teeth again. Calpol tonight.

hope everyone else's nights were good. Ginger: did yours improve? Oh and good luck with teh docs today Meg

MegBusset · 02/10/2007 08:20

Morning all. Have woken up with DS' cold

Good night for us, though, with just two wakings at 11 and 3 (in bed with us after that). However, was not best pleased when he woke for the day at 6.30 in pitch darkness!

Skirmish, I hate the rain too, but always get out for a few walks anyway or I'd go stir crazy. Luckily I live near local shopping centre so can while away an hour in Mothercare...

MegBusset · 02/10/2007 08:21

Oh and EP, your day off sounds lovely. I sometimes think, "What did we DO with our days beforer DS?", and I think 'going to the pub and reading the paper' pretty much covers it

skirmish · 02/10/2007 08:26

i agree...think we spent quite a bit of time in the pub before ds! i miss those days

megs - tbh, think i'd rather be stuck indoors than visit mothercare - that place drives me mad, and i always leave in a bad mood! so, i try to avoid it! I'm like you, and try to get out at least once a day, even if it is just round the block or quick trip to sainsburys!

Tamdin · 02/10/2007 09:01

morning all

meg for your cold. hope hosp apt goes ok

skirmish that's no too early but still 7 would be nicer

EP cot until midnight is a good start. ds only managing until 11 or midnight at best atm

our night wasn't too bad considering.
ds wouldn't settle for me in his cot so after 30 mins dh took over,
after 5 mins there was silence through the monitor and i thought 'god that was quick'
Dh had put him in our bed and he went to sleep in seconds!
Now if i wanted that to happen i could have done that myself! i was trying to keep him in his cot. men!!

anyway......... he woke sporadically through the night crying because of his throat but don't feel too bad and didn't wake until 8 this morning

He's too sick for music group this morning so it's a cosy morning at home for us today then sainsbury after lunch. how exciting

Amberjee · 02/10/2007 09:25

ep, dvds sound grand - what did you get? and also the lunch + pub sounds great to me- what's wrong with that
skirmish, that seems quite common that wakeup after half an hour thing, no idea how to combat it though. and blerrrgh for your early waking.
meg, glad you had a decent night. and i'm also similar when it's raining, scouring the aisles of waitrose or similar
for your dh's quick solution tam!
we had a difficult night. ds is waking up and absolutely screaming until he's gets boob. and a lot of boob. so much for nightweaning, we've totally gone backwards. he didn't used to be like this, but the times dh tried to settle him he screamed like mad and when i took him in bed he just lunged on my breasts
not sure what this is all about to be honest. he's very climby at hte moment, wants to stand up all the time. i'm not looking forward to the standing up in thecot as i'm sure that's coming soon. i can so see some tears ahead and i'm not looking forward to it.

tibsy · 02/10/2007 09:27

morning all!!
crap night for us ....a 3 hr interlude in the middle of the night
dd slept in til 8.30 thank god, so dp got ds up for school and i stayed in bed

ginger thank goodness lo went back to sleep... 4.20am start, i dont think so!!!

skirmish - i know, i'm thinking that will have to make a concerted effort to get pregnant next time any other month apart from november!!!! its not even a birthday month glad to see a slightly later start for you

meg - for your cold... sending positive thoughts for the hospital appt x

EP - staying in the cot until 12 is brilliant. more of those nights i say!!

Hi tam, for your dh 'wimping out'!!! for poor lo.

dont think we're going too far today either. cant face the outside world atm. think i'll have a nice nap later with dd.....right, off to get my brekkie and have a shower

tibsy · 02/10/2007 09:31

amber X posted, for your booby baby and for your night... could well be the dreaded milestone. i think i'm giving up trying to find a reason for dd's sleeplessness

Tamdin · 02/10/2007 10:22

looks like we're all going backward atm. Maybe that means we're in for agood run next week
amber must be a growth spurt for ds if he is genuinely needing/wanting milk. fingeres crossed lie everyhting it passes

Amberjee · 02/10/2007 10:44

i'll hang onto the growth spurt thing at the moment - hope it will pass soon. am a bit suspect its a separation anxiety thing (from mum). he is just all over me all the time.

tibsy · 02/10/2007 10:58

amber - hes about the age for sep anx to kick in i remember (there are still days like that tho) that if dd wasnt on my hip, she was on my boob.
i worked out that due to crap sleeping last night, i spent a total of just 4 1/2 hours out of dds physical presence in the whole 24 hrs. i love her to pieces, dont get me wrong, but sometimes, arrrrgggghhhhh

Amberjee · 02/10/2007 11:08

yeah, it's really hard. all day he just climbs all over me. he's not too keen on dad at the moment either.
my friend the other day asked me what was the longest stretch i'd ever spent away from ds, and excluding a few decent nights sleep (very occassionally), it's a max of 4 hours. ever. it's amazing isn't it. i never realised a baby would change my life to such an extreme. i thought i'd be a different parent to this, but i guess the parent you are is dictacted by the person your baby is.
feel terrible as LO cried himself to sleep for his nap this morning as i thought i'd fed him to sleep, so got in the shower, then he started crying, and i just couldn't bare to get out of the shower [bad mummy emoticon]
on the bright side i scored a cute noppies winter jacket on ebay for £2.50, it just arrived today and is lovely, so i'm very pleased with my bargain shopperness! esp after looking for jackets on the weekend and hte ones i liked for LO were £60 or more !!!!

Amberjee · 02/10/2007 11:10

actually i yelled at dh the ohter night when he got back from his retreat, as ds had been on my boob all weekend, and then dh started touching my boobs and i just got mad. i just wanted my boobs to myself for once!!

tibsy · 02/10/2007 11:14

amber youre the best mummy
i know what you mean re. boobs...dp commented the other day, 'when you give up bfing, i'll have your boobs back' he's not normally that insensitive... hello, theyre my boobs actually
