We are still in the 8 month regression.

On a good night (usually the nights his dad is on baby duty) he wakes up every two hours then comes into the big bed from 5 or 6.

On a bad night (usually the nights I have him) he wakes anywhere between every half hour to every hour and comes into bed with me at 5 or 6.

On a really bad night he will also be awake for an hour at a random point for no obvious reason...

@Haypanky he knew you'd parted with your money. He was laying there last night rubbing his hands together and evil laughing. Hopefully my DS will realise I've parted with mine, not as much but still, and sleep through at some point. I don't even care if he sleeps just one night..it's enough to make me feel normal. I've got an actual night shift at work this week aswel, I don't know what's worse.

UtterlyConfused111 · 08/04/2018 20:12

@haypanky
If you don’t mind telling who did you use? Did they seem sensible?

MummyCuddlesSolveEverything · 08/04/2018 22:20

Well done baby haypanky I hope they carry on sleeping through. They must know that you spent money on getting them to sleep!

It's been a mixed few days. Ds hasn't slept any better but I've had a bit more energy (run out of energy now!), and dh's mental health has been bad (issue with medication).

On first wake up of the night, took a long time to settle him. Hoping it's not too bad tonight.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 08/04/2018 23:04

All the lols baby @haypanky! Not sure whether to applaud or tut Grin
I'm in the grip of a fever. Proper shakes and aches. Too ill to sleep. Have a 5 month baby to keep alive! Oh fuck. He's waking lots too. I'm singing 'Fever' at him, it's a distraction of sorts...

I have them both on my own tomorrow. Oh fuck!

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 09/04/2018 01:21

Have self diagnosed and reckon I've got a UTI. Which is quite a relief as it means I'm not infectious and the babies won't get it.

DS woke at 11 and would only settle on me. But it was agony as my kidneys and lower back are so achy! So he's now on his front in bed next to me. I know that's not good but he's sleeping so soundly. And there's no way I'm going to get sleep as I feel too restless. So am just keeping an eye on him.

He's five months and very strong neck control, he's easily rolling both ways and has been for a while. I'm thinking he might have found his preferred sleep position? But obvs it's in no way recommended!

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 09/04/2018 01:21

Sent too soon. Not sure what to do but right now I'm just very relieved to be able to lie on my side and get a bit of relief. Will call doc tomorrow.

Jellybean2017 · 09/04/2018 01:32

Sorry to hear you're ill @whoateallthepercypigs. I'm also up, feeling rotten with a cold. Ds is sound asleep in his cot and I am wide awake. Dh is snoring. The cats are snoozing. So unfair 😔

Jellybean2017 · 09/04/2018 02:34

Ds woke up for a feed so at least I wasn't awake for nothing 😋

Catscatsandmorecats · 09/04/2018 04:38

@whoateallthepercypigs my DS has started sleeping on his front so I looked up the recipient on the lullaby trust website. They say if your baby is rolling both ways on their own then it is fine for them to chose their own sleeping position. So I've stopped worrying and let him carry on, and he's sleeping better, win. I hope you can see.the Dr quickly, it sounds like you need something to clear the infection. And why oh why do these things always happen when you have both kids on your own the next day?

On feed 2 for DS2 here so a pretty good night. But when I finished feed 1 earlier DS1 had gone into our bed again and was cuddled up with DH so I had to move him to his own bed again and wait while he properly dropped off. It didn't take too long but by us allowing him to keep getting in our bed it goes against trying to teach him to go back to sleep on his own if he wakes. Problem is, he won't let DH put him back to bed, he'll just scream if he tries until I come, not very easy while I'm in the middle of a feed. I think we'll have to work on prepping him in the day that DH will put him back to bed. Also I need to.staet using a monitor again so I wake more quickly when DS2 does as I think the crying wakes DS1 and I really struggle to wake up 🤦

Meepmoop · 09/04/2018 04:41

@WhoAteAllthePercyPigs once they can roll either way it's fine for them to sleep in any position as they will be able to move themselves if they need to. DS sleeps on his front, there's no way I would be able to keep him on his back

onone85 · 09/04/2018 06:47

@WhoAteAllthePercyPigs yep, if he's rolling both ways let him choose. I totally panicked the first time I walked into DS room and saw him on his front but he started sleeping so much better for a while then nights went to shit again.

Hope you manage to see a doctor today and feel much better soon.

Lallypopstick · 09/04/2018 06:51

I only had 4 hours last night. The worst night for months. I knew that sleep isnt linear but I've been so used to him sleeping through since sleep training.

MummyCuddlesSolveEverything · 09/04/2018 18:39

Ah strikes again. He's annoyed at me because saying I'm tired is being over dramatic and guilt tripping him into staying downstairs. Apparently I just keep going on about it. When I said I'm fine by myself I was "implying he always leaves me on my on". I've been trying to cut him a bit of slack because he's been struggling with his mental health but there's a limit to how much one person can manage.

DiscombobulatedWomble · 09/04/2018 20:15

Holy shitting hell. LO had her 4 month vacs today at 2. I thought she was fine as she'd been fine with all the others but OMG she's screamed for the last hour & a half, & threw up her last feed everywhere! She's finally conked out but I'm afraid to put her down :( no temperature so I'm not sure what it is hurting her but it's horrendous :(

Haypanky · 09/04/2018 20:28

Utterly, I'm really sorry I've only just spotted your question! Using 'sleepy moon keeper', she'll come up if you Google. She seems very pragmatic and to know her stuff, quite sciency, very good at keeping in touch. Bear in mind that she didn't rule out cry it out, so does depend on your ethos.

Haypanky · 09/04/2018 20:32

And, she's offered unprompted to refund us some of the money if the sleeping streak continues! So if we only use a week of support instead of the 2. My fingers are so crossed. Today I actually feel like a human!

Meepmoop · 09/04/2018 20:36

@DiscombobulatedWomble DS was awful with his vaccines, he cried for hours and hours afterwards. He was okay the next day.

Can I ask a gross question? Those that are weaning what's the constituency of your nappies? I'm not sure if ours are too thick. Really sorry if tmi.

NinaMarieP · 09/04/2018 22:00

@Meepmoop they vary. Definitely a lot less runny though. Some days it's like real grown up poo, brown and smelly and firm.
Other days it's squishy and the colour of whatever he ate - so orange for sweet potatoes and green for avocados. Or it's brown and squishy with whole peas in it...

@haypanky
Thank you. I’ll keep it in mind for when her sleeping goes to pot again....
So far, we have had 5 nights of sleep till 5/6am (two nights with poos at 3am that required intervention - a nappy change but nothing too horrific).
She has been uninterested in her morning bottle though for the last few days which I think might mean the dream feed at 10pm isn’t necessary anymore. So I’m going to drop it and see what happens tonight...,
Fingers crossed!!!

UtterlyConfused111 · 09/04/2018 22:05

@meepmoop
Pretty much spot on what ninamariep said. Depending on what she ate - maybe chunky peanut butter is my best approximation

Meepmoop · 10/04/2018 00:55

Thank you! We're around the same so that's reassuring.

DS is wide awake, I'm so annoyed

Catscatsandmorecats · 10/04/2018 04:19

@meepmoop yes, we're the same as NinamarieP too, all sounds very normal (and gross, depending on what they've eaten).

On third feed here with DS2 but have been up again in between with DS1 - when will it ever end?! And I've just dropped the anbesol in the dark 😩

FrozenMargarita17 · 10/04/2018 07:39

Well I went away for the weekend and since I've been back dd has shown a little improvement. She's waking a couple of times after going down (except last night it took 1.5 hours to actually get her down) and then waking at 1ish just for the dummy. Then at 4ish I'm taking her in with me because she's usually a bit more awake and/or freezing cold. Then she sleeps til 6:30-7. So from the hourly wake ups that's actually quite good I suppose !

Jellybean2017 · 10/04/2018 08:02

Weaning nappies sound the same here. They take a bit of getting used to 😂

Fairly good night here. Couple of wake ups and one time he didn't settle when I left the room so I had to go back in. Then I went into his room at 545 and we both woke at 745.

Thinking about taking him to baby cinema today but depends on when he has his first nap! If not it will probably just be a wander around town instead. Hope you've all got something nice planned, and time for naps where needed!
