New thread for night (and daytime!) chatter for those awake more than they'd like with a non sleeping baby/child 😊

My DS is five months. First baby likely to be only baby if I don't start getting more sleep He is a nap and sleep fighter but incredibly cute so I choose to forgive him 😂

Chocolate or sleep is quite the dilemma 😀

Tmgc123 · 23/01/2018 18:26

I went for chocolate 🤣 planning on going to bed straight after dinner haha last night killed me!

Jellybean2017 · 23/01/2018 18:29

Hope tonight is better for you 😊 and all of us!

Zampa · 23/01/2018 19:40

How did your los sleep overnight after their 8 week jabs? DD2 has either been asleep or crying all afternoon after hers. Apprehensive!

xxrealistmumxx · 23/01/2018 19:58

Hot chocolate then sleep would be my choice :)

utterlyconfused I'm with everyone else on this, DH seriously needs to step up! Will LO take a bottle?? If so I suggest you get away for a night and leave him to it.

Let's see what's in store tonight....

Good luck everyone

Catscatsandmorecats · 23/01/2018 20:11

Mmmmmmm chocolate.

The more I read of this book the more I realize I'm not doing anything wrong in particular, just DS2 is who he is. If DS1 continues to improve then I will just work on better naps for DS2 until he is a bit older.

Just doing his final feed now and have already eaten, win!

AMagdalena · 23/01/2018 20:12

Anyone getting the urge to smack their DH with a frying pan or another blunt weapon?

DH had nearly 4 weeks to clean house, buy I feel like I walked into a war zone last night! To him, cleaning the bathroom means wiping the sink and cleaning the bath tub twice in 4 weeks!
And don't get me started on the kitchen or living room!

POO QUESTION ALERT
Is it normal for baby to poo a lot during a cold? DD's poos are green atm. I thought I had seen it all, but this is a new one...

We are co-sleeping, btw (what a suprise). DD has outgrown her crib and since she's not quite 6 months, I am keeping her in our bedroom.

Jellybean2017 · 23/01/2018 20:16

@zappa DS was grumpy after jabs but sleep no worse than usual

@AMagdalena I read green poos during cold are normal. DS had them during a cold. But sometimes can be allergy related I think.
Sorry to read you've arrived home to a mess. Hope the frying pan is out of sight for your DH's sake! 😊

OP posts:
AMagdalena · 23/01/2018 20:39

@Jellybean Not sure it's allergy related as nothing in my diet has changed. I have been eating the same stuff for years, to be honest 🙈
We're seeing the consultant on Thursday and I am nervous he will mention allergies and going soya free 🙈 I know it's all in my head, I know.

Jellybean2017 · 23/01/2018 21:23

Hopefully it's just down to the cold @AMagdalena 😊

DS has been asleep less than an hour and already awake 🙄 does not bode well.

OP posts:
WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 23/01/2018 21:40

@AMagdalena DS is doing green poos and he has a cold so could be that?

Not expecting great things from tonight. DS is at the peak of his cold and is so congested and snotty, poor lamb. Going to see any sleep as a bonus.

We've taken to him sleeping on me for the second half of the night. It means more sleep for him...and I get some sleep also. But I'm feeling guilty and worried about how risky it is. I'm propped up in pillows and he's not under the duvet but wrapped in his blanket. It's not ideal though, but he will not go down in his cot after the first feed.

GinUnicorn · 23/01/2018 21:41

Well mine had been grumpy all day. Am trying to think positive for the night but not holding my breath!

NinaMarieP · 23/01/2018 22:12

Re: green poos I think it's all the mucous/snot they swallow when they've got the cold that does it.

We get the odd green poo now and again for no apparent reason.

Envy(not envy).

We made it to bed without LO waking 45/60 minutes after being put down so I'll call that a success and hope that his better bedtime feed (13 minutes instead of 7) will help him last past 2 am 🤞🤞

Good luck all.

Meepmoop · 23/01/2018 22:26

Doing bedtime feed at the moment, way later than normal but we went to go see my friend I haven't seen in a while. Concerned about the amount of sleep I'm going to get but it was nice to catch up.

DH has an interview for a promotion at work tomorrow so needs dropping in at 8 so early start to

Meepmoop · 23/01/2018 23:05

Baby asleep, DH is doing press ups in the bedroom. Anyone got a shovel I could borrow. I think he's anxious about the interview so I shouldn't be mean

Catscatsandmorecats · 24/01/2018 00:54

On feed 2 here, we seem to be getting into a pattern of a feed every 2 - 2.5 hours overnight. It's not ideal but at least it's easier if you know what is coming?

Meepmoop they do say exercise is good for stress! I hope the interview goes well and your DH lets you sleep Grin

Catscatsandmorecats · 24/01/2018 02:12

And I've just been up with DS1 for the last hour since I got DS2 down. He was really unsettled and upset as he was going back to sleep, in the middle of the night I find it so hard to cope with, I worry about what is making him so unsettled and sad. I'm glad there's the sleep behaviour clinic tomorrow to go to, hopefully they can help. I can cope with DS2 needing loads of feeds overnight if DS1 is ok. Sad

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 24/01/2018 02:26

It's hell when they're both unsettled isn't it @cats. I really hope the clinic helps you both. After me boasting about DD's sleep, she's been waking the past few nights due to a cold and teething. Went into to the sound of her crying at 11 and she'd got out of bed and was crouched behind the chair!

Bit annoyed as DH is meant to be on DD duty but I've been going in quite a few times as he's just not waking up.to it.

DS woke for first feed at 1.40 but thanks to DD waking I didn't get much sleep. Now he's wide awake after a napoy change. I'm sitting here with sore bleary eyes and I think I've caught their cold.
.

Jellybean2017 · 24/01/2018 03:19

DS did a poo at 2.30 and I'm still trying to resettle him 😶

Sakura03 · 24/01/2018 03:48

On feed #2 here, so far the night hasn’t been too bad sleep wise but I was so tired yesterday due to lack of sleep that ds and I had a nap in the late afternoon which really helped. During the day Ds was very clingy and sleepy (had injections done Monday afternoon) and would only sleep on me so we stayed on the sofa all day... didn’t go to baby massage class.

Catscatsandmorecats · 24/01/2018 03:48

Oh no jellybean2017 night poos are just the worst for waking them up.

Whoateallthepercypigs it's horrible isn't it, you just end up waiting for the next wake up. I still haven't gone back to sleep, I'm just too wired. I know what you mean about your DH sleeping through it too - although DS1 will only be comforted by me, DH can resettle DS2 in that time I'm out of the room, but does he wake? Not quickly enough, I usually hear DS2 from DS1'S room and come in to find a still snoring DH! I hope the disruption with your DD is only temporary, colds never help.

DS2 feeding again now but has almost gone three hours, hopefully he'll go that long again and I'll actually get some sleep after he's fed.

theotherendofthesockportal · 24/01/2018 05:19

It's my first visit back here at the his time in a while. DD has been unsettled since 3.30. Got up to feed at 4ish and discovered she has managed to give herself a scratch across the nose.

I really hope this isn't the beginning of the 4 month sleep regression. Trying to get her back to sleep now.

user1489931797 · 24/01/2018 05:25

Morning everyone had a nice long sleep whilst DH did a shift I got to sleep 11pm -3am only woke at 1:30 because I think I was in shock at being able to sleep longer than 2hrs! DH heard me wake up as he text me from downstairs saying hi back to sleep bless him!
When I took over was great to hear from DH that not once did DS get fussy or cry or grizzle and had either been asleep or contently feeding and being winded with minimal fuss!
Yesterday we were prescribed ranitidine for DS reflux and been using wedge under mattress, so far fingers crossed seems to be helping but we shall see as been here before with gaviscon and Nutramigen and positive results have been fleeting so watch this space.
Off to try baby massage later this morning for First time so that'll be nice!

xxrealistmumxx · 24/01/2018 06:43

Morning everyone. Sounds like a better night for most. I was too tired to read / post. Had a better start to the night but pretty much been awake since 3amish with just s few snatched mins here and there. Really feeling it today :(

AMagdalena green poo is highly likely to be due to having a cold. Sorry to hear the house was such a mess. DH is the same here, I dread to think what the place would be like if he was left to his own devices for a month!

Right , best get up and at it. Wind howling here, would so love to stay cosy in bed! One day

Tmgc123 · 24/01/2018 06:59

Not a terrible night...5 wake ups but all reasonably easy to settle.

However on wake up 6 because my idiot partner forgot to put his alarm
Under his pillow and also was the last one in the room to wake up when it went off. I am furious.
