Feed #3 🙈 although last two were lying down so I went back off to sleep quickly. Suspect this is a feed where he is actually hungry and not just trying to get back to sleep.... I am really hungry and have no snacks within easy reach... Day(night?) dreaming of cookies...

Jellybean2017 · 14/12/2017 02:39

Strikethrough fail 🙈

Meepmoop · 14/12/2017 03:02

@WhoAteAllthePercyPigs It's so frustrating when you think you've finally cracked it and then they go back. DS is being the same, last couple of nights he went back in his cot straight away. Tonight if I move he starts crying.

Sorry your DH is not being very helpful or understanding. They forget we don't have any time to ourselves either and also get the joy of no sleeping on top.

ValentineFizz · 14/12/2017 03:20

@WhoAteAllthePercyPigs hang on in there mrs, you are doing a great job Flowers Sounds like your DH needs to grow up a bit though - no time to himself? FFS what did he think was going to happen with a baby in the house, mary poppins was gping to appear? They are as much his DC as yours so he needs to up his game, man up and get on with it. Please don't put too much pressure on yourself and try to get all the rest you can honey.....

Feed 1 here, about to do nappy change then finish the feed and get back to bed 😴

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 14/12/2017 04:00

Thanks both. Yeah I'm very let down by DH. Normally he is very good, it's just the sleep thing that is a bone of contention. I just don't feel he has any right to complain about being tired when he is getting an uninterrupted 7 or 8 hours a night! He's actually sleeping better since DS arrived because DD is. Which I'm pleased about and obvs at least one of us is getting sleep so that's good. But I wish he could be more understanding sometimes.

Still awake here! DS did sleep for an hour but awake and feeding again. And I couldn't sleep of course. I'm getting angry with the whole situation and with DS which is of course not right. But why is it getting worse with each night?? Surely that can't be right?

Anyhoo. Resigned myself to no sleep for the rest of the night. No way he'll go down after this.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 14/12/2017 04:01

And thank you for letting me whinge on! Its the only place I can vent and have my pity party and know that I'll be understood...

Meepmoop · 14/12/2017 04:09

I think they have no concept of what it's like to not sleep properly. I keep reminding DH that I haven't had a decent night sleep in 4months!

I find DS seems to cycle good nights and bad nights. The last couple of nights he's been good. Tonight it's not happening at all, he just won't stay asleep,

I'm just waiting for him to fall asleep then he's coming in the bed with me. DH is working nights so might be able to squeeze an hour in before he gets back. The beds not big enough for all of us. (Especially when the dog and cats decide to join)

actino · 14/12/2017 04:16

I'm there with you, PercyPigs. I've been up since 1230 and don't expect to sleep tonight, Dd squirms and cries everywhere but my chest, so I'll have to wait until sunrise to get any sleep.

I have similar struggles with my DH, he complains about being tired yet gets at least 6 continuous hours per night and could get more but he sometimes stays up after giving Dd to me for her feed. We have family at ours for Christmas, so he'll have to sleep in the room with me for 4 nights which will be a rude awakening for him as ill be putting him to work doing nappies and settling Dd to sleep.

Meepmoop · 14/12/2017 04:22

Soo he won't sleep in my bed either.

Looks like it's a 2hour night for me

I wonder if he slept to much on the day

HashtagTired · 14/12/2017 04:23

@WhoAteAllthePercyPigs I haven't had that argument with dh but I know he thinks it. It's a different type of work, isn't it, one that is done with little or no sleep. The tiredness and change in routine is probably getting to you both. Try not to let it take over your relationship Thanks

HashtagTired · 14/12/2017 04:29

Feed #2
He's very fidgety tonight.
I couldn't do his nappy change because I've run out upstairs and couldn't leave him as he was crying and I was afraid he'd wake dd (who had already been woken up tonight. She's so overtired with school and Christmas etc that it wouldn't take much for her to not go back to sleep). I thought I'd feed him a bit then get a nappy but that didn't work out, so now I'm hoping he doesn't leak before the next wake up which will be in a couple of hours max. Fingers crossed!

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 14/12/2017 04:33

Thanks Actino and Meep. Sorry you are suffering too although selfishly glad I'm not alone

With DD, we were both taking it in turns to do the bad nights with her (once I'd stopped breastfeeding) so he was experiencing sleep deprivation along with me. But overall (and I know they say it shouldn't be a competition!) I've taken the hit for over two years now (starting in pregnancy with DD). Although there's been ups and downs, I can safely say that the amount of nights I've done more than a 5 hour stretch I can count on one hand. Which I was coping with...just about...until this week when it's all got worse with DS.

I remind myself that I am so lucky, so many people would kill to swap places with what I have, there are others suffering much worse (a good friend has just been diagnosed with cancer, I feel bad for even thinking of complaining when I think about what he's going through). But I'm afraid sleep deprivation does not make me a very nice person!

Oh god it's only 430. Now I've accepted no sleep is happening I just want to get up.a2bd fire up the coffee machine...

Ha Actino that will be a challenge for your DH!

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 14/12/2017 04:34

Thanks also hashtag - have just seen your post!

HashtagTired · 14/12/2017 04:41

What's worse about these nights at the moment is that you never quite know what you're gonna get. If you get a run of good nights you feel great. In control. Got your shit together kinda stuff. Feel like you're 'owning' this parenting malarkey. And the house is in good order, then all it takes is one shut night to feel it was all just an illusion.

And what's worse, when they regress you KNOW they CAN sleep longer, but are choosing not to. Little buggers.

But all in all, like you say @WhoAteAllthePercyPigs we are all blessed. I have three close friends at work who, have suffered loss. An unimaginable pain.

I just paused for a moment and looked over at a resting, sleeping ds. And he farted right on cue 😂 Nice.

We are blessed.

AccrualIntentions · 14/12/2017 04:49

I can't wait for the Christmas holidays so I can force DH (teacher) to do a bit more to bloody help me. DD is bottle fed, there's no reason this should all be my responsibility every day and every night. Her latest thing is making grunting gulping congested noises like she's choking, but when I actually look at her she is perfect fine. Have had to admit defeat and put her back on my chest again because I can't bear to listen to it.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 14/12/2017 04:55

Accrual DS is making those sounds too in his sleep- not exactly restful to listen to!

😂 hashtag, even their farts are cute at this stage! Blessed indeed!

You're so right about how perspective is linked to sleep or lack of. I'll admit to feelings of smugness, when I had guests over and they were full of praise for the tidy house and how well I'm looking caked under three layers of make up Well, tomorrow I'll be letting it all hang out with no make up and no pretence! Need to let my standards slip and accept it's totally ok to admit I'm not coping too well and that is entirely normal.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 14/12/2017 04:56

Lol today that is not tomorrow!

AMagdalena · 14/12/2017 05:01

DD refused to sleep in the cot. What a suprise! She onlg had 1 wake-up so far, though.
I am awake as DH has brougt me breakfast. DD still asleep.

actino · 14/12/2017 05:14

So, I just woke up from a 30 min nap with Dd on my chest. I didn't intend to fall asleep like this because i know it is risky, but it was 430 am and I just dozed off! What do others do in this situation? What can I to make it safer? Ive tried to get her to sleep both in her cot in bed with me, but she won't and screams.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 14/12/2017 05:44

@actino I don't know but it is looking like the only way I am going to get any sleep at all tonight. Still awake. DS sleeping aboit 45 mins max then wanting feeding again. I'm so tempted to just get him some formula, breastfeeding is clearly not touching the sides.

I prop myself up with pillows, wrap him in his blanket so he's on top of the duvet and that's the best I can do. It's happened a few times this week. I know how risky it is but what the fuck else can you do?? I have tried everything- dummy, white noise, swaddling, sleepyhead, next 2 me cot. None are working. He's 5 weeks so too small to co sleep. So what else do I do? apart from go insane with no sleep

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 14/12/2017 05:45

AMagdalena can I have some of your breakfast?? Starving over here Grin

Jellybean2017 · 14/12/2017 06:05

@Whoateallthepercypigs sorry you're still having a tough time Flowers it's so difficult with one baby so I can only imagine what it's like with two dc. You're doing a fantastic job so just keep on going through the hard bits and know we are all sleep deprived and grumpy with you!

I spent the last few hours propped up with baby asleep on me. I make sure he can't slip down anywhere and that he is in a position where his chin is not touching his chest. And then I doze off as if I didn't I would be even more exhausted. He is nearly 20 weeks though. In the first few weeks I stayed awake all night...

GimbleInTheWabe · 14/12/2017 06:52

I've also gotten chest sleeper here. DS used to be pretty good st sleeping in his cot but since his jabs on Monday he has only wanted to sleep on my chest and wakes up immediately if we put him in the cot. I'm hoping he'll revert back to his old ways because I worry a lot about him suffocating, but on the slip side he sleeps so well on my chest and we both have got 6hrs sleep until he just woke for a feed.

Jealous of your brekkie @AMagdalena. I'm desperate for a pee but don't know wether to run the transfer risk!

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 14/12/2017 06:54

I just tried a fornula feed out of desperation. He threw it up. So I'm sitting here in tears, baby sick all over me, with a screaming baby. I don't know what to do it what is wrong with him. I need to sleep desperately. I hate this stage so much.

HashtagTired · 14/12/2017 08:26

@WhoAteAllthePercyPigs might he have drunk it too quickly? My ds is a guzzler. When he has a bottle feed dh has to keep stopping to give him a break. Big hugs Thanks
