Yeah I suppose I do need them @theotherendofthesockportal, I haven’t taken them for nearly 2 weeks now, I mentioned it to my hv and she didn’t seem too concerned but suggested I eat more iron rich food.

AMagdalena · 01/12/2017 14:07

@Sakura I meant the ones that come in a tin in juice! It's the prune juice that makes you go, really. Don't ask my why but nurses in a hospital I used to work at would give it to patients.

Sakura03 · 01/12/2017 14:34

@AMagdalena oh right, haven’t tried them will give them a go thank you😊

theotherendofthesockportal · 01/12/2017 16:09

@Sakura03 the hospital only gave me a 2 week supply or iron tablets. I started to feel unwell again - light headless etc. I mentioned this to my GP and he was horrified that they hadn't given me a longer supply. He said that you should take them for 3-4 months! I have to admit I have felt better since starting them, except for when I forget to eat

GimbleInTheWabe · 01/12/2017 16:49

Thanks for the pumping advice everyone. Managed to get s total of 12.5oz in the end. Just on the way home from my job so don't know if DP used it all. DS is 7 weeks but going through a cluster feeding phase atm so wouldn't be surprised if he'd scoffed it all!

@Sakura03 I'm using the Haakaa which someone else recommended on this thread. It's really great and you don't even have to pump as it uses suction. And I also use a medela hand pump, can't remember its name but it's the yellow cheapest one in Amazon. It's pretty good and depending on how full my boobs are I can get 4oz in 10 mins maybe of pumping. Also if you're feeling s bit bunged I was told that bananas are quite constipating and a shot of prune juice before bed can get things moving. I'm in the same boat as you tbh and it's not nice, especially after a 3rd degree tear Confused.

On the train home after being away from DS for nearly 6 hours and my boobs are raging!!! They are rock hard and stinging!

Lovingtyrells · 01/12/2017 17:55

I would like to go to my work Christmas party which is mid December. However the amount of biscuits and chocs being eaten in the night means I can’t fit into anything nice!

I’m suprised I still have an arm left as every night it goes dead from having to lean on my arm to co-sleep in a half decent “safe” position.

AMagdalena · 01/12/2017 17:56

@Sakura No problem. I can recommend beetroot, too! Even better than prunes.

theotherend Strange. I got a 3 week supply of iron tablets and had a blood test at GP's at 3 weeks pp. My results were fine, so was never any need to take the supplement for longer. Maybe the length you should take it for depends on severity of your deficiency?
I lost over 1 pint of blood during labour.

Takes me back to the early weeks after having DD. Felt absolutely horrendous. Could barely move.

sleepycat13 · 01/12/2017 18:47

@GimbleInTheWabe do you find the manual or electric pump the most effective? I'm using the medela swing electric. it's easy to use but I find I can only get 3-4 ounces in a session depending how full i am and that can take anything from 10-30 mins

Ceesadoo · 01/12/2017 18:49

@GimbleInTheWabe Will be interested to know how your husband got on without you!

AMagdalena · 01/12/2017 20:14

Quiet on here...

Have your DC's gone down like a dream or are they fighting sleep like fire-breathing dragons?

Lovingtyrells · 01/12/2017 20:19

Mines not asleep, totally hyper !

Jellybean2017 · 01/12/2017 20:25

It's been the school Christmas fair here so just got in, well almost 2 hours ago! But put dd to bed and had a quick tidy up downstairs before getting ds ready for bed and leaving him with dh. I'm now showered and in bed ready for sleep! I'll be back here again for the usual midnight, 2:30 and 5am feeds.

Ds had his 12 week injections today. So far, so good.

Hope everyone has a good night tonight.

Ps. When your little ones are old enough for weaning, my top tip is to keep a tin of prunes in juice in the cupboard! 👍🏻😉

HashtagTired · 01/12/2017 20:36

I don't bring snack to bed, just 2litres of squash!

NinaMarieP · 01/12/2017 20:44

A grumpy afternoon has turned into a raging evening. He has screamed at me for the best part of an hour, refusing to feed because he's too tired but refusing to sleep probably because he's still a bit hungry.

GimbleInTheWabe · 01/12/2017 20:44

@sleepycat13 I've not tried to electric medela pump I just bought the hand one as I didn't think I'd be doing much expressing but now I kinda regret not investing in a better one. The hand one isn't bad I'm just lazy and I still get enough milk out. I used an electric one when I was in hospital with DS and it was fab! It was a big boy one though so I can't remember the brand.

@Ceesadoo DP and DS both survived without me! DP seemed a bit out of sorts when I came back, as if something had got him down, so I don't know if it was just a bit overwhelming being with DS all day by himself and having to deal with any fallout alone too, especially as DS isn't that great at taking milk from the bottle yet. I think it may have been a little worse than he made it out to be as 'yeah it was fine' was his response to 'how was it?!' But hey ho, they survived and there's still 3 bottles of milk in the fridge so I think he drank about 7.5oz in the end. It's good to know that it can be done as it means I can accept more work (I wfh usually) and actually it was quite nice being a normal human again and only carrying my lipstick and the metro and not a bag full of wipes and muslins etc ha. Getting home to him was just the best though 💙

AMagdalena · 01/12/2017 20:45

@Nina You have just described my day

NinaMarieP · 01/12/2017 21:20

Two hours since we started the bed time feed and I think I'm finally winning... bloody knackered though.

Jellybabie3 · 01/12/2017 21:23

Hi all. My ds looks suspiciously over tired after a busy day. He's 8 weeks tomorrow and at the point that he has to look at everything meaning he fights sleep. Went shopping today after MOT (Passed!!) and met some friends. Was nice but i feel like i may pay for it tonight. Christmas tree is up Smile what a lovely time of year to have a baby.

Glad all turned out well @GimbleInTheWabe. That's an impressive amount if milk to express. I was going to express for spells over Christmas but can only get about 1 oz after a feed.

Ven83 · 01/12/2017 21:27

DH is with the baby so I'm trying to have a nap, but I can't seem to unwind Sad

Meepmoop · 01/12/2017 22:03

@Ven83 it’s so frustrating when you can’t get to sleep isn’t it.

DS hasn’t had an evening nap so is overtired so I’m predicting a rough night

DH is snoring away next to me, I’m kicking him as hard as I can but to no avail. Does anyone have any miracle cures for snoring?
