Ah yes. We use gro bags here too. Awesome idea! Because he’s windy he also kicks a lot when he farts so the blanket used to keep falling off him. At least I know he’s snug all night with a bag on him.

If it gets really cold, I might give this heat pad idea a go. We don’t need it just yet so I’ll see how it goes.

Had a feeding frenzy all night here ! Also got a bad back now from having to lie in the same position each night not able to move ! Has anyone tried to edge away the baby slowly into cot ? I feel like lifting into the sleepyhead is too much movement however the cot is still quite big for him even at 10 wks.

AMagdalena · 10/11/2017 09:31

Lovingtyrells No chance of moving my DD from that position.
She's got 6th sense, I swear!

She just self-settled for 2 small naps and I don't get why she only does this in the morning...

HashtagTired · 10/11/2017 09:40

I can move ds when he is in a deep enough sleep.

He’s currently napping in the Moses basket next to me, dreaming like dogs do, kind of woofing and squeaking 😂

I'm so jealous of those able to move baby when they are asleep. Mine won't even lay next to me in bed now, has to be laying across me with boob no less than a centimetre away in case he fancies a quick snack Hmm he has never slept in his own bed for more than about an hour and that was a one off. He won't nap unless I vigorously bounce on the birthing ball with him in a sling. Even that doesn't always work anymore. He screams in car seat and pram. He won't accept any of the tempting array of dummies I spent 15 quid on yesterday! Aaaarghhh! When will I sleep again?!?

mummarosie1 · 10/11/2017 09:54

Jellybean2017 have you done the happiest baby on the block techniques? I would really recommend the DVD from Amazon, seeing how he does it was much more effective for me than reading descriptions of the techniques... it’s super cheesy and at £7 for 45 mins worth of recording it’s pretty pricey but it really helped us with some techniques for soothing our DD to sleep. :)

HashtagTired · 10/11/2017 10:04

@Jellybean2017 that’s what my dd was like. Ds is a bit more chilled.

My only advice is this: embrace it, don’t fight it.

The day you accept that he is going through this ‘phase’ is the day you’ll feel less anxious about it. That really worked for me. I was feeling anxious that my dd would only sleep on me; that she wasn’t sleeping in cots like other babies; wasn’t self settling/sleeping through/etc etc. Every time she woke at night it was torture as I sooooo wanted her to sleep through. I was worried I was ‘breaking her’ by allowing her to sleep on me.

I then just gave up hoping and just accepted that’s the way she was. It meant I had zero expectations of improvement and so if she woke me in the night 5 times for a feed I just fed her. It meant that I went to bed early expecting her to wake. If she didn’t or woke less, it was a bonus. I changed my benchmark and it helped me psychologically immensely.
She grew out if it soon enough, as I said in my pp, in years to come he won’t be like this so it’s just a moment in time.
I don’t think I have done a very good job articulating my point but I hope you understand my point!

@Hashtagtired

My oldest DS was exactly like this - I thought he would never sleep on his own and people were always giving me helpful 'tips' that didn't work. In the end he slept on his own all night when he was ready, at about 9 months, and hasn't looked back since.

Currently going through the same with DS2, eight weeks old. I think I just make clingy babies!

DollyLlama · 10/11/2017 11:59

I spoke way too soon. 3 day old had me up all night! I just couldn't seem to shift his wind Sad oh this takes me back!

NoNoCharlieRascal · 10/11/2017 12:20

Sleep regression is killing me. Ds is 20 weeks but feeding and sleeping like a newborn atm. Except in the day, he is fighting every nap hard. The only way I can get him down is to ride the bus with him in the sling.

It's only a phase, it's only a phase, it's only a phase....

GinUnicorn · 10/11/2017 17:59

Repeat phase!

Btw personally I prefer the sound sleeper app to Ewan the sheep.

Right thinking positive - tonight will be better :)

HashtagTired · 10/11/2017 18:04

We can do this 💪💪💪

A question for you all. If dh works a 9-5 job and never gets up in the night, can I beat him with a bag of angry badgers when he complains of being tired? Grin

Jellybean2017 · 10/11/2017 19:21

Thanks Hashtag. We will get there. Positive thinking is definitely needed! Haha my husband just came home saying he is tired! Although he did come and attempt to settle baby in the night so I will let him off Wink

AMagdalena · 10/11/2017 20:27

Jellybean I do sympathise.
Although DD will let me put her down in her cot on the odd occasion, I feel like she is getting worse... Could be the 4 month regression.
Each nap time is a battle. And she naps on me! Fed to sleep 80% of the time or rocked for ages in a very particular way. Very rarely wil she self setle for 15 minutes, only in the morning.
She only just recently started allowing me to put her in the pram without screaming blue murder.
Our LO's WILL get there...EVENTUALLY Grin

Lallypopstick · 10/11/2017 20:38

NoNoCharlieRascal you definitely can! Also if he gets ill and says he probably shouldn’t go near the baby, you can also do that (pointed look at my partner).

Lovingtyrells · 10/11/2017 20:44

How long is it ok to let them scream in the pram !? Sometimes I need to go out and can’t wear the sling but feel embarrassed walking with people looking at a screaming baby. Especially when they don’t know that he is full and clean and winded!

Deffo agree accepting the situation helps a lot psychologcally. I was very upset around 8 weeks as people said the baby should settle for long periods and in cot by then and I just knew mine wouldn’t so now I don’t expect anything at all and don’t assume anything is the start of a trend.

NoNoCharlieRascal · 10/11/2017 20:54

loving my ds hates the pram, and car seat and well anything where he is lying down or he is strapped in. I used to walk short distances and then pick him up to my shoulder and push an empty pram. I'm afraid I gave in and he now lives in the sling. I couldn't bare him crying all the time. I'm hoping with age and being able to sit properly, be distracted by food and facing forwards he will accept it better. Who knows.

Also don't be embarrassed, babies cry. They all do it. Anyone who judges or looks down their nose is a tool.

AMagdalena · 10/11/2017 21:14

I couldn't bear my DD crying for long either...So I wouldn't go very far.

As for sleep, I am sure sone people think I am off my head when I tell them there is no point putting DD down for naps as it'll only wake her up.

mummarosie1 · 10/11/2017 21:34

Glad I’m not the only one with a baby who hates pram and car seats, I was under the impression all babies slept when pushed in pram or driven in cars... I was shocked when my newborn screamed endlessly with both! Slightly inconvenient for... well life haha. But sure they will all get used to it with time

NinaMarieP · 10/11/2017 21:37

We are trying a dreamfeed tonight for the first time.’t OH has a bottle of expressed milk so I have my fingers crossed.

AMagdalena · 10/11/2017 22:12

The unputdownable is next to the boob in my bed 30 mins after being put down Hmm
She definitely got a lot worse at 12 weeks!

GinUnicorn · 10/11/2017 22:13

Good luck all!
