I haven't ventured into town to do any shopping. Will probably stick to online! Hot chocolate sounds so tempting!

Where can I buy salted caramel cake?'

sleepycat13 · 16/11/2017 19:53

@Jellybean2017 why did you have to mention salted caramel cake. I can't stop thinking about it now! I never sent the dh out on a late night pregnancy craving run, think I can get away with that now?

Jellybean2017 · 16/11/2017 20:01

It's definitely worth a try sleepycat!!

HashtagTired · 16/11/2017 20:18

Oh man. So tired. Need sleep. Catch you later. Night 💤

sleepycat the salted caramel cake is my fault Blush
I get mine from Asda Grin

Why my FIL thinks now is a good time to call???? He knows very well it's DD's bedtime Angry

mummarosie1 · 16/11/2017 20:29

Posting message re relaxation earlier has resulted in extreme punishment for DD who has been inconsolable since 4pm... started on gaviscon at lunch time today, wondering if it could be related and causing her discomfort or if it’s just her being a grump

Jellybabie3 · 16/11/2017 21:12

I'm so tempted to try to get to town next week for some shopping....

Is it wrong I'm worried about bf out and about? What do you do?

Jellybabie3 · 16/11/2017 21:13

Ds is feeding. I'm not sure this counts as feed #1 as i havent tried.to sleep yet

AMagdalena · 16/11/2017 21:26

Jellie I say go for it! I don't have a problem bf in public as such. I just get my boob out and Bob's your uncle 😁 I do like to make sure I will have somewhere to do it fairly peacefully, so a quiet cafe, mother and baby room (apparently John Lewis have amazing changing facilities) or a local museum 😁
I must admit I was slightly put off going into town in the early days as DD fed sooo frequently and a quick trip always ended up lasting ages...And she hated the pram and screamed...and screamed...and screamed again

AMagdalena · 16/11/2017 21:27

DD is asleep on me. Dare I put her down?

sleepycat13 · 16/11/2017 21:31

@Jellybabie3 can relate to the being nervous about bf out and about as felt very much the same at first but having a wedding to go to very early on helped me get over that to a large extent.
it's just feeding a baby. if people don't like it that's their issue, not mine.
I tried a cover but found ds got too hot. i like a light scarf instead. can be used to help avoid flashes and great for hiding sick and leakages too!!

AMagdalena · 16/11/2017 21:35

Honestly, get your boobs out, ladies! If someone doesn't like it, it's their problem.
I haven't had a bad experience yet or noticed anyone stare at me.

NinaMarieP · 16/11/2017 21:41

I second that @AMagdalena

Honestly it’s fine, @Jellybabie3. I unbutton/open my top, get him roughly aligned before I pull the bra out of the way and then focus on getting him latched. That way I’m busy and not looking at anyone else so I’m oblivious should there be a look or anything. Obviously once he’s on I’m not constantly staring down. It’s more for while my boob is waving about as he doesn’t always get on first time or very quickly. I don’t bother with a scarf or a muslin or anything.

I’ve fed him in loads of busy cafes (hungry baby is a great excuse for a sit down with cake😁) and also in the library at rhyme time and at my baby group. Oh and at a bus stop and my drs surgery.

One problem I have is breast pad etiquette. I always take it out and then it’s sitting on the table or my change bag. Never seen anyone else do that so I assume they all fold it down with the bra?? Am I letting the side down? 😂

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 16/11/2017 21:41

I have an 'udder cover' (hate that term) which I use out and about; I've never been very good at discretely unfastening my top and popping boob into a hungry mouth! I've never had any problems and yes, John Lewis do a good feeding room, as do big shopping centres. I live in Glasgow and everywhere I go there's access to brilliant facilities. But with DD as I got bolder I didn't even bother with them, just got my boob out wherever I happened to be! I'm always amazed when I hear about people having a hard time accepting it, it's just such a natural thing!

GingerHanna · 16/11/2017 22:06

Feed #1 and lordie I struggled to accept the call. Soooo sleepy.

GingerHanna · 16/11/2017 22:09

Planning our first trip out with DS tomorrow - it will be his EDD (born at 37+2) and fully expecting some whipping of boobage.

By whipping I mean the an outward motion of visibility for the purpose of placating the baby warthog. Rest assured I will not be taking a mini cat-o-nine tails and giving them a good seeing to in the middle of M&S.

Jellybabie3 · 16/11/2017 22:45

😂 ginger

Thanks ladies. Its just a new thing for me to get head around i guess. I obviously dont have a problem with it, its just wierd it being me! I havent bf in front of anyone but ds (and hosp staff!!) So need to be brave. Not sure i could with family though....

Ds is a pain in the butt if i am not actively pushing the pram so God help if there are queues...and why would there at xmas!! But I'm gonna give it a crack. As much as snuggles on the couch are great, after finishing work 6 weeks early and then ds being 2 weeks late plus a week in hosp i feel like I've laid down and watched tv forever!!

I'm just about to attempt to put ds down in his bed as I've been cuddling and feeding him in ours....wish me luck!

GingerHanna · 16/11/2017 22:52

How did it go putting him to bed Jelly?

Jellybabie3 · 16/11/2017 22:55

Failed

Jellybabie3 · 16/11/2017 22:56

My crooked neck this eve isnt helping....i scooted out and bounced the bed too much. Damn it. Gonna be tricky!!

Jellybabie3 · 16/11/2017 22:57

Ds is knackered though so dont think it will take long to get him back to sleep she says

Meepmoop · 16/11/2017 23:09

Hi everyone,

I think I’ll be joining tonight!

Started ‘bedtime’ at 9pm, haven’t managed to get DS to stay asleep yet so currently staying awake with him on me

Ohb0llocks · 16/11/2017 23:31

Feed number 1 here!

NinaMarieP · 17/11/2017 00:17

Feed #1 as well 😩. It’s so hard when we’ve had a few really good nights (first feed nearer 2 am and sometimes more like 3) and then we go back to midnight.

The midwives were closing the curtains round my bed when they helped me latch but once I got the hang of it to hell was i getting up and dragging my catheter around. I just got on with it for the next two days, made it so much easier to then get on with it at home. Also helped that he wanted fed at most visiting times as well so my family and in laws had already seen it all.

Jellybean2017 · 17/11/2017 00:20

Also feeding here. I have just had an hour of sleep as DH took baby in the sling when he got home as I was so knackered!
