DS! Sleep deprivation overload

HashtagTired · 14/11/2017 20:08

Ok. Wish me luck, ladies. I’m going to attempt what most of you already do. I’m in bed now and just put ds to bed next to me in the snuzpod. I normally sleep on my own until midnight but my dh looked so tired I said I would take ds providing he got an early night. It just means I won’t get my guaranteed 4 hours sleep and it may mess up his routine a bit because he’s asleep now, but is normally awake now with dh downstairs. So who knows what will happen tonight!! 🤷‍♀️

ooh good luck @HashtagTired let us know how it goes.

AMagdalena · 14/11/2017 20:15

Good luck, Hashtag@

Jellybean2017 · 14/11/2017 20:19

Hope it goes well Hashtag! We are in bed already and hoping DS will sleep soon so I can too!

HashtagTired · 14/11/2017 20:52

He’s tired but not been able to successfully put him down yet. He’s startling a few times and it’s waking him up. He wants cuddles. He’s got a bit of wind too. I suspect I’ll be up for the next few hours until our normal routine kicks in at midnight.

Thanks everyone.
He’s down but he has one eye slightly open and I need a wee. I’m thinking if I move it’ll catch his attention and wake him up. Might try and hang on, but I do need to wee. If I stay and he wakes up I’ll have to dash to the loo and risk him waking up dd if he cries. Oooh decisions. I’m playing with fire here!!

Ewan’s left leg is powering on. Ds has drifted off but he’s only light sleeping so he’ll no doubt wake again soon.

Come on, Ewan 💪💪💪

This is a late night for me. Sod’s law this will be when the baby sleeps for longer than usual while I’m sitting here assuming he’ll be awake soon anyway.

theotherendofthesockportal · 14/11/2017 22:00

DD is asleep, I’m sure this means a rude awakening for me in a few hours!

sleepycat13 · 14/11/2017 22:11

DS usually takes a bottle of expressed milk to give my boobs a break before we all get to bed by about 10pm. except tonight he has decided he doesn't want a bottle and instead is wrestling with my boob. i suspect it will be a while before he settled

HashtagTired · 14/11/2017 23:41

Feed #1
It’s 20-30 minutes earlier than normal. I probably could have stretched it out a bit longer if I were downstairs with him by as we are upstairs I don’t want him to wake up dd.
He went 3 hours, so I’ve just st had 2 hours sleep! That’s not bad at all. Less than my usual 4!but happy with 2. I just hope he keeps to his normal routine, or better, now for the rest of the evening.

How you are all getting plenty of sleep!

Feed #1 here. Think I have just had three hours (sitting up 🙈) we have been referred to paediatrician re. Reflux but Dr just looked at me like I was an idiot during the GP appointment, especially as DS did his best perfect happy baby impression!! GP also suggested it was our fault he won't sleep alone as we keep cuddling him and we would be better to leave him crying 🙈 he's only 14 weeks old!

k567 · 15/11/2017 00:58

Well he’s 13 weeks old and was sleeping from 21:30-05:00 now something has changed and he is waking often during the night and won’t settle in his cot. He’s been up 4 times already tonight and will only sleep on me. I’ve tried putting him down but he won’t tolerate it. This is an exhausting phase.

Jellybean2017 · 15/11/2017 02:00

Sleep regression K567? Poor you though, must be frustrating when you've been having good nights previously.

We are up for another feed. I'm so sleepy, DS not so much...

HashtagTired · 15/11/2017 02:22

Feed #2 here.
Pretty much not on normal schedule. He went 2.5 hours this time.
I’m very sleepy tonight. Loosing those 2 hours at the beginning of the night has really had an effect.

I'm up. Ds was writhing about for about 30mins before waking. I'm guessing wind again. Had a feed, a change and some gripe water. Hes now back on boob.

He seems to gulp like a bloody fish. I'm sure that's why he gets wind. Calm......calm....nope.....drinks like someones gonna whip the boob off Hmm

Jellybabie3 · 15/11/2017 02:33

I've tagged in ewan....

Jellybabie3 · 15/11/2017 02:50

Massive poo. Back to square one...

GingerHanna · 15/11/2017 02:58

And here we are. DH did both the late and witching hour feeds last night to let me sleep. The sleep is great but it seems that having milk from a bottle gives DS awful trapped wind (even with Infacol) so he screams in his sleep which then screws with my sleep. Need to find some new bottles.

Day one of demand led feeding. Four hour stints during the day, three hours at night. Fucker.

Toonewtobehaving2 · 15/11/2017 03:05

Not sure what's going on here, but I'm on fed #1 of the night. I actually had to wake DS to feed at 0230 as he last fed at 1900!! It was his expressed bottle as usual. I woke him as I was worried thT 7.5 hours was too long to go without a feed at 4 weeks? Did I do the right thing??

Jellybabie3 · 15/11/2017 03:26

Yeah i reckon so toonew. Think hosp advised no more than 6 hours at that age.

Ds went down for 15mins. Awake and on boob again. Ffs. No idea what happened. He hasnt done this in ages Sad. Can only assume he woke himself dreaming.

Jellybabie3 · 15/11/2017 03:28

That said toonew I would always be reluctant to wake a sleeping baby - but purely because I spend so much time trying to not wake it up haha!

I remember hv saying that at some point i would wake up and realise ds had slept best part of a whole night and not had a feed but to not worry. So same for you I would say. You did the right thing and no reason to worry Smile

Toonewtobehaving2 · 15/11/2017 03:38

Thanks jellybabie3, it seemed totally wrong waking him, but he was stirring anyway. I was concerned about supply issues this early on too. As his last feed was an expressed bottle, so I hadn't used the boobs except to express back at 2000. I'm paranoid about supply as with my DD I had a few issues at the beginning and she lost a lot of weight.

However I woke DS and he went straight on, fed for 10 mins but think he got quit a lot as my boob was understandably full! Then he faffed around and wouldn't really go back on, switched sides and he fed for anther 5, but now I think he's totally full as he's hiccuping and been a little sick.

How old is your little one Jellybabie? Poor you re 15 mins!! That's just teasing!

HashtagTired · 15/11/2017 03:47

Toonewtobehaving2 yeah I think you did the right thing too.

Feed number #3 here, 1 hour and 20 after the last one.* I actually think it’s feed #2b as he fell asleep so quickly whilst feeding and I tried to gently wake him but he would barely open his eye, let alone feed, even after I was winding him so I just thought he’d had enough. Clearly not.*
I did forget to do a nappy change at feed #2 though so I’ve just corrected that.**

Not long until morning now 😊
