tibsy · 15/05/2007 11:13

ginger for poorly dd. hope she feels better soon.
its amazing what a shower and a brush of your teeth can do for your sanity too. dd still not slept yet this am, but rolled around happily on bathroom floor pulling my breast pads out of their box whilst i showered bless her. it is all worth it. and its a good job theyre cute and can make darth vader noises
will have a look at that book amber.
hope everyone has a nice day, its stopped raining here so am off to put dd in her swing outside and tire her out even more
forgot to say, hi to chocolatte

tibsy · 15/05/2007 11:14

ooops, missed my after look at the book amber
ta ta x

Tamdin · 15/05/2007 12:14

hear hear ginger! amber all books ever did for me was exactly as you describe. I felt so much better once i boxed them all up (not being a weirdo we're moving so I'm slowly boxing up things that don't get used!)
Ginger for poorly dd. it def makes you realise how small and vulnerable they are when they're not well.
Hi tibs. lol at dd and breast pad play
Hi chocolatte

Amber: I think I am doing what's best for DS. He is a happy, sociable, healthy and rapidly growing baby. I thini the books on sleep habits can get a bit screwed - there is a world of difference between a baby waking a few times at night and an older child not going to bed till 10pm and then having to get up for school. As far as I can see, frequent wakings are normal for babies, it's just that we have difficulty adjusting to them!

Think NCSS says that sleepp patterns tend to adjust at about 8/9 months - has anyone else found this?

Nights slowly getting a bit better for us, but I'm still knackered. Crawling of bed at 6:30 to get to work is a struggle!

Tamdin · 15/05/2007 12:44

swizz yes ds got better at around 9/10 months. Big pat on the back for you for managing to work. think i could now but not when ds was same age as yours

tibsy · 15/05/2007 12:49

hi tam
swizz, i really admire you and getting up to go to work outside of the home as well. i dont know how i could do it some days. i guess you just have to get on with it re. the sleep patterns changing. dd is nearly 9 months and her 'regular' naps have changed, she generally naps for longer, but has definitely spaced them out recently. she woke at 7.30 this a.m, and has only just gone down now. evening and bedtime really dependent on how many naps and at what time the last nap was, but generally 7 - 8 pm. i agree with you about the fact that most babies need to wake several times for milk or whatever,............. but that doesnt stop me hankering after a solid 8 hours sleep tho

Swizzler · 15/05/2007 12:55

Not sure about being at work being that impressive - I'm sat at my desk ahving had lunch and no-one has interrupted me for an hour. Apart from the early starts, my days at home with DS are more difficult (but also more rewarding )

Tamdin · 15/05/2007 12:55

hi tibs. ds still asleep although can hear rustlings on the monitor. got him some new sandals for the summer this morning and he wouldn't take them off so he's sleeping with them on....so cute! [barf at loved up mum emoticon]

Tamdin · 15/05/2007 12:56

x posted swizz. what did you have for lunch?

tibsy · 15/05/2007 12:58

tam, thats so cute!!!!
swizz, in want your job!!!!!

chocolatte · 15/05/2007 12:58

Hi Tam and tibs!

I also need a book on 'how to make it look like you've done something when you've been hanging around on the internet"

tibsy · 15/05/2007 12:59

i meant i want your job, of course

Tamdin · 15/05/2007 13:00

lol chocolatte...sometimes when Dh comes home from work i jump up and pretend like i've been doing the dishes or the like. not that he would care in the least (have been blessed with a saint of a dh)but i feel so guilty if i don't look busy

tibsy · 15/05/2007 13:04

choc, normally i'm a bit of a lazy arse, but have been quite productive today, cleaned the house and made a banana bread loaf with some mouldy auld nanas
..................have now come out in a rash, think i may have developed an allergy to work

tibsy · 15/05/2007 13:05

cos looking after a bubba 24 hours a day, 7 days a week is nothing like hard work is it?!

Tamdin · 15/05/2007 13:06

yummmmmmmmmm for banana loaf. i don't know how to bake

chocolatte · 15/05/2007 13:06

wow, tibs dont overdo it! hee hee. If the house is messy and iv been lazy I sometimes pretend dd has been very grumbly when she hasnt really. How bad is that! (I wont do it when she can talk, honest!)

Tamdin · 15/05/2007 13:07

been there done that choc

Tamdin · 15/05/2007 13:08

i'm very today aren't i! must turn the heating down

chocolatte · 15/05/2007 13:12

My dp doesnt really seem to mind either. (I did point out early on that its MATERNITY leave not Housework-leave.)

When my mum was staying and we went out at 5pm she asked if DP would be annoyed that dinner wasnt on the table. I said he would be surprised if it was and had to explain maternity leave to her as well. (She helpfully pointed out how easy she found it to look after 3 young kiddies and look after hubby, grrr.)

I've found some things make him really grateful though (apart from the obvious) like tidying his sock + pant drawer. He was gushing over that one. Strange bloke.

Tamdin · 15/05/2007 13:14

lol choc. dh is the same. i do make dinner most nights but every night he'll still say 'oh this looks lovely' even when it's just boring old spag bol. you gotta love 'im! x

tibsy · 15/05/2007 13:18

lol choc and tam, its nice when they appreciate us for the fabulous vixens that we are

chocolatte · 15/05/2007 13:18

i hav started trying to get dinner ready in the last couple of weeks actually. but he gets fed AK baby recipes so not very exciting! i dont eat meat so no idea wot they taste like. i question thepoor soul afterwards to findout if its cooked properly and demand truth as its for the baby! he has confessed its a bit bland!

tibsy · 15/05/2007 13:20

how old is your lo choc, i didnt do dinner, or anything much else, come to that for months after dd was born.
