PavlovtheCat · 11/03/2007 11:07

personal stuff - 29, almost 30, have one fab daughter 8 and a bit months, slept well until 6 months, then it all went to sh*t, but slowly slowly getting back on track . I used to be thin, and {Sorreeee] still am, but a little less toned than before. I live in Plymouth, work as a Probation Service Officer, am due to be back at work well, now! I am getting married in September to my DP of almost 8 years. I love being a mum!

PavlovtheCat · 11/03/2007 11:13

OMG have the clocks changed? [shock} what time is it?

bampa · 11/03/2007 11:13

PavlovtheCat · 11/03/2007 11:27

Keira - I just read your post about losing your little daughter. I am so sorry. It must have been awfully hard for you, I cannot begin to understand how you must have and continue to cope, but just wanted to say sorry, and to send you [[hugs].

PavlovtheCat · 11/03/2007 11:32

Bampa - oh cool as forensic psychologist, thats the kind of job I want! I am expected to psycho-analyse and 'cognitively re-train' offenders, just without the qualification and pay to match!!! Which probation board! do you know where in plym your BIL lives? Its a small world isnt it?!!

Phew about the clocks! I just called my DP to see if he got a bo**ocking at work for being late! ROFL

PavlovtheCat · 11/03/2007 11:33

I go surfing from time to time, last just before finding out i was pg, used to sail a bit too, just been offered position as crew with local saoler wanting to race, really want to butu dont know if I will have time or energy .
Your DH is right about who does the hard work!! hehehe .

lori21 · 11/03/2007 20:22

I can't keep up with all these posts but thought I would respond to a few.

We've been doing a bit of baby signing. In my job I sign with the children all the time and really believe that everyone should learn sign langauge. It is great that baby signing is becoming popular especially when people use signs based on British Sign Language. As the sign language used with children with learning difficulties is based on BSL then most of the signs are the same (although BSL is regional so there are always variations) anyway back to the point 'Something Special' on CBeebies has loads of signing on it and is enjoyed by both children with and without learning difficultes. It is also great for learning new signs and has a website. There is another website with video of signs on I think it is www.totalcommmunication.org.uk

Well we had an OK night except he decided 5.30am was morning and is not keen on daytime naps. He refused to lie back in his pushchair for a nap and was so tired he fell asleep forwards into his bear.

I'll try and keep up better with the posts in the future and hope everyone has a good nights sleep

MaeBee · 12/03/2007 09:01

well, my night was absolutely pants again!
i feel so fretful that not only me but he is sleep; deprived too. i was hoping to take the babywhisperer and just follow the sleep points, when we put him in his own room, but not up for following the whole ideology!!
re: signing...two useful signs are for pain/sick...a waggle of the hand over the bad area, and sleep or bed...an obviuos one of course, in a couple of months he will be able to tell me he/s tired and wants to go to sleep

x

gingerninja · 12/03/2007 09:16

OH MY GOD DD (nearly) SLEPT THROUGH. I on the other hand was awake all night because a) I have a cold and can't breeth and b) was wondering why she hadn't woken up.

Well, the story goes thus. Decided to try DD in her own room last night (she always spent the first part of the night there anyway just joined us when we went to bed.) Anyway. I went to bed at 10 and didn't bother giving her her dream feed thinking she'd be awake before I'd even opened my book (as per normal) however. I fell asleep and woke up at 12 in a panic that she hadn't woken. Me and DH decided we should check on her which must have disturbed her because she woke about 12.30. Put her back in her cot (she was wide awake) and she played with the tag on her teddy for a while. Then when she squeeled DH rolled her onto her side and there she stayed until 5am!!!! Then she came into bed with me and slept until 6 when I fed her. I kid you not.

On the other hand I was awake a lot as previously mentioned. I also heard her cry out twice in the night but by the time I'd sprung out of bed, found the torch and put on a dressing gown she was fast asleep again. Maybe all those times when she laid next to me and I jumped at the tinyest wimper I hadn't needed to.

Wonder what tonight will bring.

Pav Your DD has the most beautiful name

bampa · 12/03/2007 09:20

morning naebee. My night was pretty good. Only up twice (5 mins each time) but don't forget he'll be 14 months next week so there's hope for you all yet! My morning however was a bit crazy...put ds in his playpen while i made the bed etc only to return to find he'd done his morning poo and somehow it had come out the top of his nappy gone all over his pj's and he had smeared it (accidentally) over his toys/books, the sheepskin in his pen. You name it, it has poo on it! The look on his face was priceless. Anyway we're all cleaned up now but not the most relaxing morning i've ever had!

bampa · 12/03/2007 09:22

soory morning ginger too. You hadn't posted before i typed mine. Brilliant night. well done.

tibsy · 12/03/2007 09:32

mornin ladies!
maebee
ginger and i too have a cold, tho the sore throat and sexy voice variety, just as dd starting to get over her snotty nose.
bampa and [urgh]dd thinks smearing poo all over the place is the new art form too! am sure somebody somewhere would pay a lot of money for it!!

our night was rubbish with regard to wakings, too many to mention, however, i dont feel too bad as i went to bed with dd at 6.30pm so got some zzzzzzz's. 6.30pm!!!! what am i, a pensioner? anyway, i feel i can cope with the day, which always helps.

OP posts:
bampa · 12/03/2007 09:44

Morning tibsy. don't worry i've been known to go to bed at 6.30 before too!
On differnt subject anyone doing anything nice for mothers day on sunday?

cruisemum1 · 12/03/2007 11:50

pav - wot is yout dd's name? cant find where you typed it

lori21 · 12/03/2007 12:28

I was going to wish everyone a good morning but it is a bit late.

maebee - sorry about your bad night and lol at your idea of teaching your lo to sign when they are sleepy and want to go to bed. My friends ds does ask to go to bed and he is 2yrs so perhaps it wil come to us all in the end.

ginger - wow that is very impressive, people keep asking me why I don't try him in his own bed / own room and I say I do but like you used to he ends up with us when he won't settle, which is usually about 10pm.

bampa - what a nightmare, I thought cleaning up the spaghetti, couscous, or grated carrot that my lo had thrown around was bad enough.

Well our night was OK.

7.15 asleep
10.00 crying - had a feed went back to sleep in cot
11.00 crying - had another feed then back to sleep in cot
3.30am - I certainly realised that I wa sat up in bed feeding ds - not sure what happened - that's sleep deprivation for you - put DS into our bed
5am - crying - so i fed him
6am - crying - so I fed him
7am - alarm went off, DS and DH asleep.
7.15 - DS woke and I fed him

Well I know I feed him too much in the night but I do try sssshhing, patting, rolling him, and he just crys louder.

So do you think I should get The Baby Whisper?

tibsy · 12/03/2007 12:39

lori, my night was very similar to yours last night. i dont usually feed dd that often, but shes been unwell and needed the comfort. also, as she was in bed with me, it was easy to do that and then fall back asleep.
havent had any experience of the baby whisperer, but have got the website and may look at it later as i'm not familiar with the ethos. www.babywhisperer.com
