Any of this familiar?

1 baby needs to be constantly held
2 feeds frequently during the day
3 feeds or comfort sucks through the night
4 won't sleep alone
5 HATES the pram and/or car seat
6 takes short naps
7 doesn't like being held / left with others
8 gets bored or over stimulated very quickly

Feeling exhausted and want some support from others with spirited fussy babies

If so join the club Smile

Llama we went out and bought a frozen chocolate pudding which went straight in the oven, we were all in dire need of something rich and chocolatey! Grin

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 07/02/2016 11:57

Yay, I'm relieved to hear you got your chocolate fix!

LittlePixieMa · 07/02/2016 16:12

What is that pixie?

LittlePixieMa · 07/02/2016 16:56

A plastic tub. He sticks his head in it for ages!

Haha love it. Ds's favourite toy is an empty water bottle

deathb4decaf · 07/02/2016 19:51

Thanks star I need stories like yours!

I'm sooooo tired. DD has had us up at 4am the last few days. Urgh I thought 5 was bad! Also, she bit me quite hard the other day and there's a visable puncture in my nipple! It feels bloody sore Confused.
purple has your DD got teeth yet? My DD was latched on a lot throughout the night until her teeth came through, now it's eased off so she was obviously comfort sucking. It provides them with pain relief so it's a good thing! Hope you're feeling better.
llama your night in the pub sounds great! Your DS sounds a very sociable chap!

CaptainWarbeck · 08/02/2016 07:41

How're we all doing today? DS had some kind of mental nightmare yesterday evening poor thing and took lots of rocking and pacing and shushing to calm down... and then he slept til 7am!

Granted he had a few feeds between that but that is a seriously long lie for us. Now he just has to do it again tomorrow Grin

Db4d I hope your nip is better today!! Ouch!

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 08/02/2016 22:36

Hi everyone. Just quickly checking in to say I hope everyone has a good night. DS is asleep on his side for the first time (he put himself there) I'm hoping this means he is going to sleep better!

3sugarsplease · 08/02/2016 23:00

I've had to leave DS with dad tonight. I put him to sleep at 7 and got a message at 9.30 that he was wide awake.. Hoping DP can somehow settle him until i return in the morning, it may be a long night for them...

deathb4decaf · 09/02/2016 08:27

How is everyone this morning?

I'm having a nightmare with breastfeeding at the mo! where she's bitten me isn't healing Angry

Purpleboa · 09/02/2016 10:08

Morning all! Check ing in from the rainy Lake District, so have some Kendal Mint Cake to go with that coffee 😀

Better times here. Have had two nights of actually quite good sleep! Still wakings and bit of co sleeping, but less. DD always sleeps better when we are away! does that mean she'll sleep well in our new house?

Finding it hard to be in the same house with 6 other people and a baby though. Very noisy and annoying! They're all leaving today apart from me, my parents and DD. So it will be more relaxing.

My dad just got DD to nap in her cot!! Dunno how long that will last but fingers crossed!

How was everyone's nights?

Purpleboa · 09/02/2016 10:10

Oh no death, that sounds horrible, you poor thing. Can you express or wear a nipple shield for a bit?

deathb4decaf · 09/02/2016 10:36

That sounds good purple! I think your DD will sleep amazingly in your new place!

I'm sending dp out to get nip shields now as it appears I've thrown mine away Hmm it's sooo painful, like going back to the early days of bf.

The 4am wake ups are still happening but thankfully I've been able to get her back to sleep til 5.30/6 which feels like a lie in!

HalfStar · 09/02/2016 10:51

Death - this happened to me when dd was 9 months. Are you bathing your nipple in salt water by any chance? If not start doing it religiously now! Hope it heals soon.

CaptainWarbeck · 09/02/2016 11:10

Ouch db4d feeling very sorry for you SadThanks

Biting is horrible! Luckily I can see when DS is about to do it as he gets a sly grin on his face. I've started squirting him with milk when this happens and it stops him in his tracks. Saying no has not been working, he just laughs! Envy Feeding feels like a bit of a leap of faith at the moment.

Glad your holiday is getting a bit better purple. Yay for more sleep and cot naps.

deathb4decaf · 09/02/2016 13:13

Oooh salt water is a brilliant idea! Thanks star

I am so anxious feeding her which isn't good for either of us!

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 09/02/2016 19:35

Ouch Db4d that sounds horrible. Hope it starts to heal soon and the nip shields help in the meantime.

I've started weaning ds. I'm more terrified about choking than I thought I'd be. He wants to self feed already which is great. He's a week off 6 months. I've been spoon feeding him and he's gobbling it up but I've given him a stick of pear and toast as well and he noshed on them straight away. Is it ok to do both?

nailsathome · 09/02/2016 21:24

Llama I do both, it's ok to do whatever you think is best. I don't feel as though ds actually eats enough when he self feeds so I tend to have something spoonable e.g. Mash so that I know he's had something

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 10/02/2016 11:19

nails that's my worry with doing BLW alone, that he won't actually eat anything for months! This morning he had some porridge with banana which I spooned in, then I gave him a piece of banana which he did try and get into his mouth but it mostly ended up in smushed up pieces all over the place.

Major event occurring here right now. I just boobed him to sleep and put him in the buggy STATIONARY in the kitchen and he opened his eyes while I was putting him in but then went straight back to sleep. That's almost a cot nap right?!

LittlePixieMa · 10/02/2016 20:50

Llama that so counts as a cut nap!!!!

little Pixie has decided that his bed time is not 7.15, which means I'm stuck in bed early these days. Arghhh. Seems pointless trying to roll away as a. He usually wakes. b. He stirs every half hr and if I'm not there he freaks!! Hopefully at some point he sleep deeper so I can reclaim my life!!!'

OP posts:
EssiesInvisibleLlama · 10/02/2016 21:18

He slept for 30 mins in the buggy without me having to intervene!

pixie I know the feeling. I've gone back to slinging ds to sleep in the evenings cos it means I can stay up and watch some tv and have an evening of sorts.

deathb4decaf · 11/02/2016 18:41

How's it going everyone??

I've still got an open wound on my nip! It's horrible, keeps trying to heal but then DD feeds and it's back to square one! She was NOT impressed with the nipple shield. She got so wound up. I had to grit my teeth and carry on letting her feed.

llama I'm afraid of choking too, you've done better than me with toast etc. I'm too scared still and DD is 7 months. I'm going to try her on some blw things tomorrow though as she's very keen to do it herself!
Sounds like your DS has made lots of progress with his sleeping!

Purpleboa · 11/02/2016 20:34

I'm doing BLW. Had a panic at first as she wasn't eating anything. So tried to introduce the spoon. She wasn't having any of it! Much prefers to feed herself. Looked it up and it seems it's very common for them not to actually swallow till 8 or 9 months! In the meantime they are getting their nutrients from milk. So I chilled out a bit and now at 7 months, she's starting to swallow a bit and seems to know what to do with food. Slow progress and it can be frustrating, but she much prefers to do it herself. Plus from what I've seen on here, it doesn't seem that full bellies make that much difference to sleep!

Looking forward to the day when she is fully weaved though. I do feel very envious when I hear about babies who have taken to food with enthusiasm. My DD is still more interested in playing than eating...
