Any of this familiar?

1 baby needs to be constantly held
2 feeds frequently during the day
3 feeds or comfort sucks through the night
4 won't sleep alone
5 HATES the pram and/or car seat
6 takes short naps
7 doesn't like being held / left with others
8 gets bored or over stimulated very quickly

Feeling exhausted and want some support from others with spirited fussy babies

If so join the club Smile

Started weaning with the mush, with a view to do both. She grabs the spoon and chomps down on it, so I think she'd probably do better with blw. My mum doesn't like the idea! I need to get one of those nibbler things!
HFM is soooo shit but I think we're improving slowly! I'm mainlining ice cream which is helping.
nails I hope you have a better night tonight!
how was the napping today yarp?

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 08/01/2016 21:12

What's a nuby nibbler?

Ignore MiL she's from a generation where they weaned ultra early so babies probably did choke!

I've bought a blw book but not had time to look at it yet. I did read that there's a difference between gagging and choking but how you tell the difference I don't know. Blush

Yarpyarp · 08/01/2016 21:25

Good grief! sounds like everyone's having a bit of a shocker for various reasons.. I hope you all get some rest at least. HFM - sounds awful, hope you get better soon!

Naps today. What naps?! There was 10 minutes in the pram under the extractor fan, and a 10 minute power down while on the boob but that was it. Generally pretty jolly thankfully, but got grumpy by 5ish so daddy went off and put her to bed without too much protest.

This 'going to bed' thing is so strange....having spent up to now with her on my lap all evening. Im a bit twitchy and have that impending sense of doom that whilst she is sleeping now, I'm going to be up all through the wee hours. We will see.

Had a very short car ride today - fair to say zero improvement on that department but one step at a time!

have a good evening (if you can!) everyone.

LittlePixieMa · 08/01/2016 21:26

Llama gagging they make a noise, choking is silent. This is a nuby nibbler -

You can put anything in it and they chomp on it, the food comes out the little holes. Love it!!

Yarp is you LO asleep alone in a cot? I'm impressed! And proud!!

Yarpyarp · 08/01/2016 22:06

Yes pixie she's in a beside cot thing upstairs and we've got a video monitor thing that I was dead against the idea of to start with but it's fab. Anyway thanks! I actually can't believe it myself.

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 09/01/2016 07:54

Today started at 5:25am. It's practically frigging lunchtime and its still dark.

deathb4decaf · 09/01/2016 07:59

Same here llama zzzzz

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 09/01/2016 08:11

I shouldn't moan really cos we didn't have too bad a night, I could have ust done with it lasting a bit longer. I fed him every 2 hours but didn't have to get out of bed and do any rocking or shushing so pretty awesome really.

DH is now making me listen to fecking David Gray though which I could do without.

deathb4decaf · 09/01/2016 08:17

What time did he go to bed? Noooo not David Gray! my DP has gone back to bed while I do sling nap!

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 09/01/2016 08:21

We had a lie in until 7 BUT he did go so totally crazy (can only think night terrors) in the middle of the night that I was sitting downstairs while he sang along to Snow White at 1.30 this morning. You have to laugh!

Yarpyarp · 09/01/2016 09:18

Awake every 2 hours here. Ditched pram nap this morning-went for the sling to guarantee more than 10 mins..currently pacing...

LittlePixieMa · 09/01/2016 14:33

This is so funny

He went to bed about 7:30 which was v civilised. I think this evening might be carnage though cos my parents are coming over which always excites him. Plus we took him for first swimming lesson today (great fun he enjoyed it after being a bit unsure to begin with). His naps have been haywire today. Think he's had 5 mini 10-15 min kips. Not quite sure why. Think swimming made things go a bit weird! Currently quite happy on play mat though.

Gin sorry to hear about night terrors. Sad

I've got to make a roulade cos got friends over for lunch tomorrow. DH is cooking lunch but I stupidly volunteered to do pud.

LittlePixieMa · 10/01/2016 08:28

Good bloody knackered morning all! How is everyone. I'm soooo tired I want to sit and cry! Haha! Up countless times last night while DH rolled over and snores which really pisses me off

Llama how was your night after swimming? So tired he slept through......?! How your roulade goes well!!!

deathb4decaf · 10/01/2016 12:32

Afternoon everyone, how are you all getting on?

Still got sore throat from hell, but we're over the worst! Was in bed asleep with DD at 7pm. She was latched on all night again I think?! woke up at 3.30, got her back down til 5.30. Given up on the cot while were ill!

What's everyone doing today?

LittlePixieMa · 10/01/2016 16:44

Db4d glad you're on the mend.

I made DH have DS for a few hour today so I could get on with bits and bobs. First time he's had him for longer than a few mins! DS winged a lot, DH does do much with him, walk around with him under his arm, or shoves him in the Jumperoo with the TV on. Annoys me he doesn't interact and play much. Then he started going on about how tired he is after having DS 'all day'!! Arghhh!!!

What is everyone's DH like with the baby?!

deathb4decaf · 10/01/2016 19:02

I can sympathise pixie. Every time I go in the shower and leave DD with DP, as soon as I turn the shower off I can hear her crying. Every time. Why can't you keep her amused for 20 mins ffs! He does pram walks with her sometimes which is my only break as I do all the other naps, bedtime, night wakings.... My fault for breastfeeding eh?
A couple of times when she's woken early he takes her downstairs for an hour or 2 so I can sleep then we swap. He puts a film on. This (irrationally?) winds me up as I cannot imagine attempting to watch a film! I could go on.

I need sleep Confused

LittlePixieMa · 11/01/2016 08:27

Coffee everyone?

OP posts:
nailsathome · 11/01/2016 08:56

Yes please! Although now I'm pg again I'm going to have to limit that! I'm slightly addicted to the Nescafé double chocca mocha.

We've had a very eventful few days. I said before DS has a cold and so was more grumpy. On Friday he had a seizure! Hospital said it was due to a fever caused by a urine infection. It was so scary and I feel awful for not noticing that he had an infection rather than just being his usual miserable self.

He has fed every couple of hours since then, I think the antibiotics have suppressed his appetite because he is off solids. So still no sleep here.

I'm sorry that some of the OH's aren't being too helpful. Mine is wonderful and got up at 4 to doze on the sofa with DS on his chest.

LittlePixieMa · 11/01/2016 10:08

Aww nails that's so scary, soooo glad he's okay. I doubt anyone would have noticed, so hard to know whether they're ill, grumpy, teething etc. Sending you all hugs xx

OP posts:
deathb4decaf · 11/01/2016 12:31

Coffee, yes!

nails that must've been horrible, sorry. Hope he feels better soon. It's so hard to know what's wrong, don't feel bad. Easier said than done I know!

Last night I felt a bit more alert and managed to stay awake past 7! so I got dd to sleep in our bed and just watched to see what was waking her up. She kept flipping onto her tummy then waking up confused and crying! She's so active now, nappy changing is getting to be impossible, she flips around like a fish! Anyone else got a major wriggler?

LittlePixieMa · 11/01/2016 13:37

Db4d yep mines I right wriggler! Started crawling at 5 months, so nappy changes are difficult! He's had crawled into a poopy one before which was just lovely!! Difficult to do them up properly when they flip!!

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 11/01/2016 19:38

Hi everyone.
Last night was half decent so I've had two consecutive nights of fairly decent sleep (i.e asleep by 8 then waking every 2 hours but feeding back to sleep and not up before 5am!).
Roulade went well. Tasted lush and looked not unlike the picture in the Mary Berry book.

nails you poor thing that sounds traumatic. Glad you know what caused it. Don't beat yourself up. It's so hard knowing what's wrong sometimes.

Re OHs with the baby. Mine is great on the whole. He doesn't do any of the night or early morning wake ups cos he's shite without enough sleep but he entertains him so I can have a shower or pop to the shop up the road. He does have a tendancy to wind ds up by playing mad games which is especially annoying right before bed but I guess I have to accept that's what dads do! I do feel a bit unappreciated at times I have to be honest. He never says or does anything to suggest he is grateful for everything I do (producing and caring for his son, all house work, laundry, grocery shopping, cooking, admin, blah blah) but hey ho. Think that's something else I guess I just accept.

As a treat I took my car to be valeted today. Omg it's like having a new car. It only cost £25 and as an added bonus ds went to sleep in the buggy while it was being done as I walked up the road to the post office. I felt quite chuffed to be out in public with my baby asleep in the buggy! Haha!
