I've cracked and on advice from the HV have started gradual retreat tonight. Forty five minutes and still whimpering/crying. Sigh.

How's it going?

Trenzalor · 07/05/2014 19:46

Asleep in under ninety. The relief! Now, for how long?

Six wake ups, the first took 45 mins for her to resettle and the others mere minutes. No milk given and she stayed in the cot all night.

Well done! That sounds really promising. How old is your DD?

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 08/05/2014 07:11

Excellent!

grainmum · 08/05/2014 09:58

I'm impressed trenzalor. When your DC was awake for 45 minutes what did you do? Are you doing this for naps too?

Trenzalor · 08/05/2014 12:42

She's ten months on Saturday.
I sat with my iPad and headphones and watched tv! I patted her and said 'sleepy time' occasionally but I think touching her made her cross so for her other wake ups I just whispered 'sleepy time'. I was going to try this for naps but I've just fed her in the living room and she's fallen asleep on me. I'd rather she napped than didn't so will try not to disturb her as I slide her from arm to sofa!

Trenzalor · 08/05/2014 13:02

Ah she woke so we are now in the cot but not napping (or crying).

OP posts:
Trenzalor · 08/05/2014 13:08

She's asleep without crying. She only has one nap a day (just the way she is) so I made sure she was good and tired for this one.

Wow! When you put her in cot and when she wakes overnight does she lie down or sit/stand? My problem with DS is that he likes to sit/stand in cot and resists lying down!

Trenzalor · 08/05/2014 18:33

At first she would sit but I think she was really tired and it was too much effort in her gro bag!

Night two begins.
Routine followed and she's in her cot fidgeting and rubbing her eyes. No tears yet.

OP posts:
Trenzalor · 08/05/2014 18:46

Fifteen minutes the tears commence.

Good stuff, OP. It's bloody hard but keep reminding yourself that you're doing this firstly because it's what DC needs and secondly, it's what you all need.

I went all out Dr Ferber on DS' first birthday and at 17months now, I wish I'd not listened to anyone and looked into it earlier. He sleeps 7-7 now.

grainmum · 08/05/2014 19:28

How's it going? Just put DS in bed. I've moved away a bit tonight. He's cruising round the cot!

Trenzalor · 08/05/2014 19:33

Sixty minutes and asleep.

OP posts:
grainmum · 08/05/2014 19:46

My resolve has cracked and.I've already moved closer and put my hand through the bars. He's got a.temp so I don't feel like being mean!

Trenzalor · 08/05/2014 19:52

No, she banged her head at one pint so I lifted her out for a hug and kiss before popping her back in.

OP posts:
Trenzalor · 09/05/2014 06:18

Her best sleep so far: five hours, a little crying break and then another four hours.

OP posts:
grainmum · 09/05/2014 12:42

Great! DS slept until 2, awake for 30 mins then awake at 5 - sadly that seemed tp be him up for the day!

Trenzalor · 09/05/2014 18:50

And night three begins. I'm told this is the worst one...

Trenzalor · 09/05/2014 19:13

Wow

  • 23 minutes!

grainmum · 10/05/2014 12:13

Brilliant, how was the rest of the night? DS settled in less than 10 mins but had fever again so rest of night was very disturbed, and he spent large chunks sleeping on me or DH in rocking chair.

Trenzalor · 10/05/2014 17:20

She almost made it to seven hours but a bloody beep from the crappy monitor woke her. She then did four hours and then another one. Also got her napping today after a twenty minute protest.

Trenzalor · 10/05/2014 20:34

Night four, at the other side of the small room. She's being quiet tonight apart from one small cry.
