Cindy: very useful explanation, I might try it. Something similar worked for DD a few nights ago, shushing and tummy rubbing, it does require a lot of patience and she only slept for an hour, but at least fell asleep without the boob in her mouth.
DD wasuch easier to settle for naps today, she's currently playing instead of eating, hmmm.
Sending good sleep vibes to all!
Thank goodness for grandparents who are crazy about DD, I had a nap today and time to chat to my mum when my dad took DD for a walk (lots of snow here and it's -5 :)

soupmaker · 17/01/2014 21:58

I've tried shush pat in the middle of the night and it hasn't worked at all for us. PUPD results in a very wide awake squaking baby!

I'm not up for any sort of fight tonight so will be co-sleeping once DD2 wakes. She went to sleep okay tonight, but she was very physically tired having been swimming today.

DD2 is way too wee for any sort of CC, and I'm not up for it anyway.

DH can take the strain tomorrow. He arrived home early from work today so I was able to leave DD2 napping to go and do school run. Then me and DD1 cuddled up on the sofa and watched her Bagpuss DVD until I fell asleep.

Of to bed now. Hears hoping for a better night.

cindyrella · 17/01/2014 22:31

She went down like a dream.
Awake at 10pm. Same as every other night. I heard why too. The restaurant next door thru their bottles out.
Tried to shush but no luck. Had a good strong drink. If shes not hungry, shes a good actor!
Out of desperation im thinking i might express feed a few nights taking away the comfort & ill be able to see how much shes having. I know they drink different from bottle but will be able to see if it makes her go longer

marushka82 · 17/01/2014 23:04

Tried shushing and tummy rub after feeding tonight. DD fell asleep and woke up 10 mins later. Fed to sleep, slept an hour, now on my boob again...
Seriously, will she ever sleep longer?!

cindyrella · 17/01/2014 23:42

I know. We're up hour & half after last feed. Soul destroying

ArtemisTheHunter · 18/01/2014 00:14

Similar story here. Went down around 8.30 without too much protest, but been up since 11 trying to settle her again. Tried feeding, rocking/shushing etc, each time I get her to sleep but she wakes within a few mins of being put down. On boob again after screaming fit. Surely not hungry again 45 mins after last feed. I went to bed when she did so at least have had a few hours. DP just came up and is making pissed off noises but quite frankly can fuck off after having a nice relaxed evening watching a film with a beer while I'm stuck upstairs with dd like every other sodding night. I'm a mass of resentment at the moment, not pretty

cindyrella · 18/01/2014 00:50

X post there. Tell him to f off! Hehe.
Dd awake again.
At wits end
Going to give her away to goblins

marushka82 · 18/01/2014 01:19

Uh, DD awake fucking again after an hour! Since 9 pm she had 2 hrs of sleep. How is she a) not tired and b) still hungry!? At wits end here too. On top of that I have a cold and my nose is itchy inside AND need to pee desperately :)

marushka82 · 18/01/2014 01:21

Oh, Artemis, what Cindy said!

ArtemisTheHunter · 18/01/2014 04:37

DP woke me up with his snoring an hour after I got dd back down. FFS. Cindy could you send the goblins over? It's their lucky day...

Marushka I don't know how these babies survive on so little sleep. Or what evolutionary advantage they gain from driving their carers insane. Hope the cold subsides, not fair

alex344 · 18/01/2014 05:49

Hi all, we are much the same as last I posted. I am yet to not see each hour on my phone sequencially when I wake each time, its 1something, 2something, 3something....

Drowning in a sea of well meaning advice making me want to kill my friends&family. How do you tell people nicely to f off and that you've tried every textbook 'trick' thanks. Makes me feel they don't really believe in sleep regression and I'm just a crappy mummy who's getting it wrong :(

Well done to tired for hopefully getting your bub back to happy sleeping ways. Gives is hope xx

alex344 · 18/01/2014 05:57

Goblins also required to me please.... And a troll swinging a big club to deal with my advice filled loved ones!

marushka82 · 18/01/2014 06:53

Weird... She finally fell asleep around
1.30 and I think she slept until 6am... There is just no pattern!

cakebaby · 18/01/2014 08:42

Bring on the goblins. Free listing on eBay this weekend too....

That was a joke before any bosom hoiking occurs.

Well last night the same, off ok, 2 hrs, then an hour to settle and 20 mins sleep after the shush pat ends, despite continuing it for 20 mins after he is asleep.

Waved white flag, co slept, he fed every 2 hrs them woke at 515 for an hour, then nodding off for a last hour.

At least I got some sleep after 4 weeks of this hell (but has never slept more than 3.5 hrs EVER and that was only twice)

Agree with pp (sorry on phone can't go back to name check) dreading the Grandparents visit later with their Hmm looks about the sleep issues. And DH with his helpful, so when is he going to be better? Oh fuck off back to the spare room with your fucking duvet and fucking ear plugs. DH, have this Biscuit

Bah.....

cindyrella · 18/01/2014 12:01

Aye. SIL: " if i had her for a night, she'd have a dummy in her" do u not think i'd have tried that by now? She'll suck it but no sleep.

marushka i should have said thats where the patience, time & icecream comes in. You need to sit by the cot, wait for the stirring & shush back to sleep. Only for a few days...she stopped stirring eventually!

Goblins said they didnt wamt her. Guess im stuck with her :)

cindyrella · 18/01/2014 12:26

Re dh/dp's & well meaning friends. Mine sleeps on sofa & looked after her last fri night to give me a break. She woke twice! I swear its a conspiricy!

ArtemisTheHunter · 18/01/2014 12:30

No bosom hoiking here, cakebaby, I've felt the same Smile

A weird thing happened last night. After 90 mins of trying to settle dd I finally gave up, put her down and crawled into the bottom of the bed where I lay curled, whimpering, in the foetal position. DP shuffled across and lay a hand on her and she immediately stopped whimpering. 15 minutes later she was asleep. I have lost count of the number of times I've put her down 'sleepy but awake' only to result in crying but clearly she can self settle. The only difference this time is I wasn't lying next to her. Maybe it's me... Thoughts welcome! Confused

cindyrella · 18/01/2014 13:12

artemis do you breast feed? Maybe your dd can smell you & you smell too yummy??

ArtemisTheHunter · 18/01/2014 14:25

Yes we are EBF. Maybe it's time to end co sleeping, I'm sure she will protest but the all night buffet needs to close

cindyrella · 18/01/2014 14:29

Can you try a night where dh feeds with expressed?

ArtemisTheHunter · 18/01/2014 16:27

Would love to but she's always refused to take a bottle. We've tried about 4 different types of bottles and different teats but no go. She doesn't really need to wake more than once in the night to feed though, I think it's habit now, and the comfort factor. Maybe I should move to the spare room! with the earplugs and a bucket of gin

cakebaby · 18/01/2014 21:36

OMFG so I spend an hour trying to get ds to sleep, he does, wakes after 20 mins HOWLING. I go back up, he's crying REALLY hard poor little thing. He is as shattered as I am. No calming him, so knight in shining armour dh says, oh i'll do it you are clearly incompetent wife

I sit back and wait for the yelling to start up again.....but oh no.....giggling, babbling for 5 mins....then silence....then dh comes down dusting hands...peek at monitor, ds fast asleep.

FFS, brilliant and a kick in the gut at the same time. Ds clearly associates me with feeding to sleep still. Shame dh works shifts and will not be here tonight or tomorrow night.

cindyrella · 18/01/2014 22:50

Oh

cindyrella · 18/01/2014 22:55

Oh cakebaby how frustrating!

I tried feeding expressed milk. Took a whole 170ml. Up as usual at 10pm, 2 hrs after going down, unable to settle (sucks dummy furiously but no sleep & eventually spits out) so give her more expressed milk. Drank 100ml. FFS.
