Overlay/ pop-up advertising on mumsnet

Hello all,
We usually say no to pop-ups on mumsnet because they're irritating but we've been offered a campaign to run for the next two weeks which is capped at one view per user per week. In other words, so long as you've not disabled cookies on your machine, you will only see it twice maximum in it's lifetime.

What thinks the mumsnet jury - can you live with it? How many of you have disabled cookies and will get cross? Can we accept and earn a bean or two or shall we deny and go hungry ?

I can live with it if it helps mumsnet tbh.

fastasleep · 11/05/2005 15:05

Is it for something very annoying? I can live with it I guess.... as long as I don't mess up the cookies again!

Gwenick · 11/05/2005 15:05

Accept it.....

fuzzywuzzy · 11/05/2005 15:07

Fine by me, my puter has been set to block pop-ups,.......although I do tend to then allow pop up from sites because I am just downright nosey..defeats the purpose really I should get a grip I really should!!!

WideWebWitch · 11/05/2005 15:08

Oh, my pc will block it too so that's ok!

fastasleep · 11/05/2005 15:09

You should get an Ann Summers pop up I think Justine...

JustineMumsnet · 11/05/2005 15:12

It's for Disneyland fastasleep.

OP posts:
GhostofNatt · 11/05/2005 15:13

Exactly how hungry are you?

fastasleep · 11/05/2005 15:13

Awww boring.

JustineMumsnet · 11/05/2005 15:14

Quite - but then I had a salad for lunch.

OP posts:
GhostofNatt · 11/05/2005 15:15

You see, salad is pricey, if you ate cheap carbs wouldn't need popups! ah go on have the popups then..

JustineMumsnet · 11/05/2005 15:17

You've got a point GhostofNatt - and salad ingredients from Abel and Cole - pasta no sauce for me tomorrow.

OP posts:
GhostofNatt · 11/05/2005 15:19

Or crisps, if you all ate crisps at Mumsnet HQ would be no need for any advertising at all.

fastasleep · 11/05/2005 15:19

I just thought that maybe the pop-up would get clicked on more if it was Ann Summers.....knowing the dirty lot around here.

I don't have a problem with it ... don't go hungry on our account!

milge · 12/05/2005 00:09

I have disabled my cookies ( sounds very interesting!) and it will truthfully bug the hell out of me having blocked pop ups go "ping" everytime i swap pages on MN but i can happily live with it for 2 weeks if it helps the poor church mice at MN towers. When is it going to start?

hunkermunker · 16/05/2005 21:51

Well, you know how I feel about pop-ups (because I mentioned it once and I'm sure you have nothing better to do than remember anything I say ), but since you asked so nicely, no I have no problem with it. Just don't go making a habit of it

katierocket · 16/05/2005 21:53

was going to say an emphatic NO but if only twice then fine. FEED MN I say

pixiefish · 16/05/2005 22:10

no probs justine

Willow2 · 18/05/2005 22:30

Do it.

wasgoingto · 20/05/2005 09:20

well I have had it twice - yesterday and today - does that mean I won't get it again. Its very annoying.

morningpaper · 20/05/2005 09:24

I'm getting it once a day (yesterday and today) when I first log on, but it's not a problem.

JustineMumsnet · 20/05/2005 09:29

yes I got it yesterday and today too, will check that as it is definitely supposed to be capped at once a week.

OP posts:
WigWamBam · 20/05/2005 11:20

I've had it both days too.
